So no. Looking forward to it though.
well the missus has.
I've been burning logs throughout summer though to "take the chill off".
it feels too early for this.
(although quite possibly it has come on automatically without me knowing)
Still have the windows open 24-hours a day.
It's starting to feel a bit autumnal isn't it?
Probably will in a week or so unless the temperature lifts back up a bit. Still a chance of a late burst of summer isn't there?
The trees are full, but they're not ready yet. Saw some kids trying to scrounge them down at the weekend. Patience, young padawan. I was once like you.
But no. I'm sure my gf will be hovering around the heating panel thinger soon enough, though.
I didn't even have a jacket and I was walking.
Who's had their boiler serviced this year? I usually get it done about now. Then a few days later I usually turn it on. Then a few days after that the boiler fails. Then I have to get the man back out and pay him more money to fix the boiler he's just serviced.
What is the point of a boiler service?
mine is insured for breakdown, but I'm scared if I get the corgi man out (or whatever they're called now) to service it, he'll deliver it the death knell that I suspect is due. And I could really do without having to pay for a new boiler right now. I'm going to re-read my insurance policy actually- I wonder if it's un-repairable, if I get a new one lie is the case for the white goods.....
Corgi is, ridiculously, still used as a brand for stuff related to inspections, insurance and gas work, though.
Absolutely fucking stupid licensing/branding failure going on there by whoever is in charge of this sort of thing.
Just bits and pieces like socks and maybe write. A note reminding me to wear jumpers. Will need a pen for that.
It's really mild up here, the weather has been (comparatively) good the last few weeks and it's muggy.
It does feel nippy outside when there's a breeze, but the house is like an oven- had to open the patio doors last night as it was so stuffy.
I suspect when we come back from holiday at the end of the month it's going to feel a whole lot different, and I'm tempted to set the thermostat (or rather get my bf to do so as I would have no clue where to start) so that it comes on the day before we're due back.)
I could quite happily never have the heating on
I like it chilly, but I'd never been woken up from being too cold before. It was unpleasant.
and should be brass monkeying it all the time, but for some reason it's like a pressure cooker (I guess perhaps because we live in the top half, and heat rises, innit).
We've got flats above, below, and on both sides - barely ever need the hea ting on. Snug as a bug in a rug.
Have lived in a flat on the first floor where the commercial/retail unit underneath wasn't glazed - coldest home on earth. Maximum time spent in the cinema/pub/gym.
Your housemates are quite right in calling you a lunatic.
That's what has inspired this thread, right?
they tell me to put it on for when they get home!
(Our house is big and freezing!)
that these specific days: when the temperature drops just a bit, but it's still not cold, the air's fresh and a bit damp, but not wet, and the leaves are starting to go brown, that that might be my favourite few days of weather in the year.
Then it goes to shit quickly.
which means that the stairwell is boiling hot.
But no, we haven't turned the heating on at home yet. We've still got the windows open and today was the first day of the autumn where I could walk in wearing a shirt and not arrive to work all sweaty.
but it's at the end of my walk in, which means it's like walking into a sauna.
I think I've got a cold now
but quite pissed last night, so
Really revel in it. Slightly damp but still able to walk to work without a coat? Amazing. Answer: No heating.
We usually have a fire before the heating goes on. Need to get the chimney swept actually.
I was absolutely astonished, it was literally August this week. Not a chance, she'll have to put a jumper on until the clocks go back at the very earliest.
I know my female housemates will clamouring for it soon though. My other housemate and I are normally happy to leave it off until the inside of the windows have ice on them but we'll bow to the girls here.
i'm still enjoying the sun having fucked off for a bit
i warm up by drinking 10 cups of tea in a row
sweating in a t-shirt and shorts, m'gnome trundled out in pj's and asked about the heating. Aghast, i just blurted out a chunter or two, before she sighed and said, "I'll go and put a jumper on".
