Might pop over the bridge to have a look if I get round to it.
What d'you reckon?
i cut myself on that edgy satire
I do not like Banksy and I'm struggling to judge this on its merits
which I also believe to rubbish
could at least have had the courtesy to work out how to not be facing away from the microphone when delivering half the report.
hope it's a mistake
What was the gist of the comment?
then changed to
"North Somerset Council hopes the show will draw in crowds and boost tourism"
It wasn't on at all
did he get this idea from Private Eye or something?
It's just very London isn't it.
and like this. I think it would be an interesting exhibit to walk round.
yeah, tbh I'm baffled at the instant backlash he gets these days. I wouldn't mind going along to this - if, y'know, I lived near to it.
it would have been wonderful had you just been attracted in by its actual physical title 'Dismaland' outside the building.
so half of the entertainment (the novelty, the ideas) has gone.....I'd now what to expect now.....so I'd be less likely to go.
If I had just been visiting Weston (Its where I was as a toddler) and come across a place called 'Dismaland' ...then my interest and curiosity would have been piqued and I would no doubt investigated, and (without any foreknowledge) then I would have been absolutely fucking delighted to have found what I did inside. It would make my day and my curiosity would have been given a huge shiny medal.
As it is with the foreknowledge of this publicity, I can't be arsed.
THIS is how famous art becomes weak art and just something that marketing/the media deals in.
It is depersonalised by publicity which is required to recoup the costs and to generate profit, and in doing so becomes something that I won't be bothering with......which is such a shame
(Its like when they depersonalise teaching maths....they tell you how to apply principles, rather than allowing you to discover them yourself...the indescribable fucking killjoys......fucking up the quality of the experience of our lives......god how I hate The Man)
But now I know about it, I will not be going there
previewing this or any other filming of what is in here will halve whatever you might feel from going into the real thing without foreknowledge....so if you are the sort of person who would go to such a thing, then hide from the spoilers
it would still be good if you were a teenager and you were bored with family holiday to Weston and found this
or does he go araound masked? or is he in fact just a concept that is now a marketing device? If then can keep him a secret, couldn't they have kept the cameras out of here?
weak as shit.....something any art student could come up with
plus it looks like it could have someones eye out
I guess all the signs were there, we just chose not to see it.
That "theme parks should have better themes".
Is missing the point.
A lot of artists seem to have a problem with escapism and fun.
from reading this thread
but as creaky said, would be far more effective as something you just "stumble over"
I like his work and I really like that he's managed to maintain his anonymity.
I think this looks a bit weak compared to some other things he's done but far from shite. Also £3 entry is nothing to grumble at and apparently that's what it costs to get in to see all the bands and comedians that are performing at it too, which is cool.
I would go if it were near me.
But I do think it'd be quite a cool place to go see bands, not a bad list of acts announced so far either. I'm sure it'd be more sinister at night and in person than these photos convey.
you don't like it? don't go!
but £3!!!! that's a great price - and will get some more people seeing jenny holtzer's work so that's good
...rushing to squawk that all of JJ's negative adjectives could also apply to The Guardian/JJ/JJ's piece/Britain/Labour/art/people in general.
Several layers of things to get depressed about there.
This article seems accurate though.
Looks like the kind of thing that's good for a brief glance at and smirk, but wouldn't want to actually absorb and think about for more than three seconds. Y'know, like everything else Banksy's ever done.
fucking hell it looks shit, it must be A W F U L
that it's curated by him - there are only 10 of his pieces there,
50 artists have contributed to this in total
I take it all back, this sounds amazing.
...is going to this, went to that Back to the Future thing, cycles, and owns a rucksack.
That, ladies and gentleman, would be the ultimate cunt.
after all the try-hard posts in this thread
where it was Banksy's flatmate or something like that and Banksy would be drawing on his toilet paper? very humorous. can never seem to find it
"If a picture paints a thousand words, these pieces are Molotov cocktails for the mind."
to show that the calendar is definitely in fact a jpg
They just genuinely sold tickets online, using the Seetickets platform. I had the opportunity to grab some but can't be bothered at the minute. A few left for Wednesday when I just looked:
(and be honest with us if it's really rubbish)
thinking about going to see Kate Tempest at this.
on Run the Jewels night.
and made the papers it seems.
I wish that plane had crashed into them
Didn't see that they were your friends. Please don't tell them. Sorry meths.
They are the type of people who won't really give a shit, don't worry honey.
on neatly summarising the Internet in two posts.
(think that suit looks good on him)
at appraising art. like not leaving the country because Mcdonalds are bringing out a new burger in the uk
0/10 appraising art points
The KLF guy's model village exhibition is by far the best bit. The gallery is great too. The rest of it felt a bit like Vice journalists waking into a copy of AdBusters.
at appraising art
I'll take my points via cash or cheque
Theyre all doing art wrong. AGAIN!!!!
Hello jailcell my old friend
