Morning DiS. How the Devil are you?
Today is my Saturday. Just sayin'....
Couldn't sleep at all last night. Please send all of the coffee.
Kind of. Got the week off beginning tomorrow but I have an interview tomorrow morning.
I'm good thanks. Had a 10/10 weekend I think, featuring pizza, non-league football and lots of beer in my favourite pub.
Yesterday I went on my first (very slow) ride with a cycle club. Was really really excellent. Today I hurt slightly.
Highlights of the weekend:
1) checking on him after putting him to bed and finding him mid-jump from his windowsill into the middle of the room
2) turning round to see him jumping off a bouncy castle right on top of another little boy. Flying through the air like Jeff Hardy he was. Good job there was a crash mat
Split it with one of the guys and the thing was absolutely covered in pepper. I ate it and it was really nice but it burnt the mouth off me.
Got it in our current local which is looking like this at the moment:
Bar making a twat of myself via text message on Friday night that is. Got to go on the razz with one of my favourite bands on Saturday and spent Sunday watching the football and coordinating a trip to Ikea with my housemate.
Got to put up the record shelves I bought when I get home. Really looking forward to that. Currently recommending London record shops to another housemate who's over there at the mo'. Any suggestions?
Rat Records for second-hand (Camberwell), aldo Flashback (various locations).
Phonica for dancey stuff I guess (Soho) though the shop irritates the fuck out of me.
Banquet is my fave but it's all the way down in Kingston.
Tell your housemate to stay clear of Rough Trade. HATE that place.
I've pointed her in the Berwick Street direction so she should be able to find Sounds of the Universe fairly handily. Have also recommended Flashback.
Banquet looks like my type of spot. She won't be around that area but it's on my list for my next visit.
What's so bad about Rough Trade? Never been myself.
always worth popping into. But unforch because of all the "development" happening in Soho a lot of the nice second-hand ones are gone :(
I can't ever find anything in Rough Trade because of their utterly stupid genres. Also they almost always put a couple of quid onto the price of everything. Sometimes more.
Banquet is lovely. The staff are dead nice.
Have already recommended so she'll have loads to go on.
Yeah, I've been reading about the "development" in Soho for a while. Sounds awful to be honest.
Cool, Rough Trade sounds just like Tower Records here so. AVOID.
Banquet is definitely getting a visit in January so!
It's currently my Tuesday afternoon as we're off to Ambleside for a few days later in the week. More on that nearer the time.
Had a great weekend at Hevy Festival. with the exception of a few food queues and them running out of Ale early on the first afternoon, it was a very well put together little festival, topped off with some cracking bands.
to celebrate getting drunk on the way home yesterday we indulged in both a Macdos AND a curry, of which we have leftovers for dinner tonight. all in all, given how much I've drunk of over the last 4 days, I'm feeling not too bad right now. good day.
I wouldn't be able for that.
although we skimped on our Macdos and didn't order multiple burgers each.
Shouldn't really be in work. Struggling.
But actually just bin it off.
The kind I'll be found negligent for if I don't meet them.
Also, I've got a cool £1.5k bonus riding on meeting my billing targets this month. Papa needs a new... giant bottle of paracetamol because I'm dying on my arse here, tbqfh.
Going full mental
Had a reasonable weekend. Saturday saw Berberian Sound Studio, went for a bike ride with my offspring, rewatched a few episodes of lost, went to an art gallery and last night watched Upstream Color with a friend. Film makes no sense, even less than Primer (which I love).
Today is most definitely my Monday but it's a good day because our prepayment meters are being replaced. No more coming home to find the electricity off.
but then I read this and thought maybe I should give it another chance.
I'm still not sure how you're supposed to deduce all this stuff from just watching the film though.
Most of the effects of this is now out of my hands, so.
In other news my work is having a dress down week for charity or whatever so I'm rocking all my lame ass studenty badges and patches IN WORK. So liberating.
Nice weekend in Cheltenham. Aunt and uncle on good form, ended up drinking some strange saffron liqueur and listening to to Lute music. Kind of accidentally bought a load of stuff this weekend that I can't really afford. Incredibly broke until next week now but w/e.
Actual genuine normal night in with not much to do tonight. 'S gonna be nice.
Was feeling shit on Saturday so bought all the LPs that were on hold for me at the shop, then bought stuff in Ikea.
Penniless until Thursday and then my rent is due and I'll be penniless again. Life, eh?
spent all day yesterday drinking a variety of bloody marys, riesling and beer.
went to watch the chelsea game but was too nice a day to spend inside a pub.
oh and played golf on sat, best i've played in fucking ages.
I am achey. Have been called in to a crisis meeting (via video conference) with Global CEO, EU CEO, Global Marketing Director, EU Marketing President, and EU Business development officer this afternoon.
Bricking it somewhat, as it's basically them wanting to hear my opinion on things.
(obviously things related to my role, not just what I think about who will win the Premier League or something)
'hey EmO, thought's on this years premier league?'
go get em EmO! :)
I'm hoping it will be fine. I haven't prepared anything or been asked to prepare anything, but am currently looking up some details for case studies to support any advice I might give.
Go armed with a sideblinder :)
Or have a monkey :()
does that mean I'm going to be fucked?
+ feel much better than last week
- gerbil may have had a stroke yesterday :/ he seemed a bit better in the evening but he's not even 2 yet and he's so tiny and lively that it was horrible seeing him puffy, disoriented and sluggish :(
glad you're feeling better but sorry about your gerbil. Hope he perks up soon <3
I hope he'll be OK, just a bit worried that his brothers love to chase him and he's not up to it at the moment.
prancing about in a bikini enjoying the scorching weather, anmd watching the sport.
I am convinced by my need to be in work today.
and lovely today.
a week on thursday and ill be in pollensa, woo-hoo!
it'll be snowing soon....
Went to a wedding this weekend in Wolverhampton, some great people watching (don't think I've ever seen people wearing jeans to a wedding), had a good laugh catching up with people though. Didn't get much else done, really need to put my head down and do some work this week, going to try and avoid DiS except for the last ten minutes on the hour. Speaking of which, BYE!
Quiet weekend. Ate a fuckload of lovely food. Got dragged to watch the new Fantastic Four movie, was was shite. Busy week ahead.
Hope you're all well.
and it was the best weekend ever and I wanna go back to the lakes ASAP
my pal was also down there at the weekend.
think i need to get back down there soon.
Where in the lakes was it? I have plans to build a Grand Designsy barn conversion near Windermere in the near future and when it's finished you're all invited.
i'll bring the whisk(e)y
this was on Grand Designs a few years ago: http://www.domehouselakedistrict.co.uk/
I live in Kendal, which is pretty sweet so long as you don't mind mega expensive public transport (presumably to pump tourists) and about 3 good bands a year playing locally.
And as you know the lake district I can tell you it's actually in Longsleddale.
Did you know Postman Pat's village Greendale and surrounding area is based on Longsleddale? Well, it is.
(my aunty lives in L'dale and I've been nearly every year since I was a wee child)
Went to a nightclub in Keswick. That was...interesting.
although I had a roast and a couple pints in the day yesterday and felt grim as shit. Regretting spending £30 on it as it was basically a ticket to feel horrible for a while.
Not got loads planned this week which is a welcome relief. Might do quite a lot of sitting.
So far all I've done is eat a satsuma that had been on my desk for two weeks and wipe my keyboard and mouse with an anti-bacterial surface hygiene wipe. Have a really bad headache after cutting my head open on a shelf yesterday and didn't go to sleep until 4am last night. Got a big SurveyMonkey to build, going to see if I can stretch it out for the whole week.
went to a friends BBQ on Saturday, drank lots of beer listened to lots of nu-metal/pop-punk kind of felt like it was 2001 all over again.
Sunday, went for brunch, finally finished booking tickets to the Fringe Festival, well sort of, I still have only a rough idea of what I actually want to see.
Just as exciting, if not more, than metamoris.
fucking get a move on monday ya cunt.
Had REAAAALLY good pizza last night
