I'm not gonna do much work today i think.
Playing the PGA course at gleneagles tomorrow, sweet! :)
Little planned apart from that.
How are we all?
I mean, it's Friday, but it's cloudy as fuck here.
Got an irritating meeting with a client this morning. Classic case of them saying they want something, me doing that thing, and now them saying "we didn't want you to do that thing!" Fuck off mates.
Going to Visions festival around Hackney tomorrow, mostly as an excuse to see some old friends and probably get a bit drunk. Should be fun.
which fell through. Lineup's amazing so I am JEALOUS. Have a great time!
I'll do my best.
Going to Edinburgh tomorrow.
Colleague is leaving today.
Realised I had to get back to mine to grab work stuff, then get here.
Only 10 minutes late, good stufffff, but I'm feeling proper scruffy. Also really tired and a bit sick from tasmanian deviling around the place. There will be no work done today.
how'd the date go?
She's lovely but we both got completely wasted and I fell unconscious approx 9seconds after entering her flat
This is excellent work Ruffers.
Stupid right hand.
Haven't learned that though. Bit obvious 'innit.
Babe, I'm On Fire? That sounds like fun...
Also, never underestimate the sheer joy at being with somebody that you can get comfortably stiotious with. It's just living the dream < 3
it was strange but cool. Only £3 something for a pint.
Tonight: being cooked for
Tomorrow: ikea then chilling
they had some people playing but the room www so empty as everyone was sitting in the garden outside. It felt like the final scene in Frank where they're playing to an empty room
I love that scene
My screen can be seen from the doorway.
Fucking right pain in the arse these week's been, work-wise. Glad to see the back of it.
Hospital appt tomorrow morning which I'm not massively up for as I don't want to be told bad news/my lifestyle has done me over (obviously) but then we're having a veggie BBQ frenzy tomorrow lunch. Our guests have (very) little-uns and so will be gone by the evening meaning if the weathers good, wifey and I can sit around the log burner out the back and have a few beers etc. My fave type of evening.
Not long to go now peeps (tell me that at 4.00pm I know).
Good laugh. Went hunting for chippers with our drummer and we definitely did a full lap of the city centre looking for one.
I really want to go boozing there at some point. L-P, I'd say you're going to love it there.
I've already eaten my lunch.
devoured in about 5 seconds
I couldn't be bothered to move so I just ate my sandwiches. I regret nothing.
4 sausage rolls,£6.
Cardholder means I don't really use much cash so they've added up where I haven't had the readies or the willpower to leave it alone. Didn't want him to send round the boys.
Going out for a few drinks tonight but probably not a heavy one. There's only about 3 bars in Reading I actually like these days anyway.
Tomorrow I'm seeing 'Doug Loves Movies' which might be good even though I don't really like Doug Benson that much.
Sunday: Probably nothing, might stay up to watch the NFL Hall of Fame game.
I think I might be going to the After Dark tonight. I've not been for absolutely ages, thankfully and I'm also thankful it's Friday so i can deal with my inevitable shame and regret properly tomorrow without too much fear for my state on Monday. not got that many plans for the rest of the weekend, so I'll probably defrost the freezer and cook it's entire non-ice cream contents on the BBQ.
a good start. Now: heaps of work to make me sad. Later partying with pals while Mrs Me hens it up in France. Woooo
I might have forgotten
I assumed you had indeed forgotten, don't worry :D we're doomed to NEVER HANG OUT AGAIN
today I am busy but WFH. Get on a train prick.
i am WFH from home. Nice.
"someday I'll learn, aka: never."
are well into it. One of them bought it as a speculative purchase simply because he thought a band called Mutoid Man couldn't possibly let him down. Now about half a dozen of my mates are creaming over it.
feel like an immediate continuation of it, but with stronger production. i pre-ordered for the same reason but then they didn't have the tshirt i wanted so had to wait >:-(
it's prob my record of the year
but listened to it burning up the motorway last week and it's got a really dirty groove to it. Suppose that's where the QOTSA comparisons come in.
Either way - it's a rock record made by skilled and experienced rock performers. Enjoyed it.
There's this whole movement of bands that get into that groove while keeping it metal-ish if you like that. Kind of building up to what Mutoid Man is.
Try out this:
and even this:
Like I said, Mutoid Man *isn't* really my bag, but I could appreciate it more than the usual metal my mates crack out. Think the only metal band I genuinely like is Mastodon.
featuring dudes from Cave In and Converge. There was absolutely zero chance of that ever being a let down. Your friend is wise.
and am about to embark on records that Ballou has produced to get some new names in my head. It'll be a good wknd
he's an insanely busy man. And I've yet to hear one I don't like.
and while we were talking he got through a big bag of something. finally clicked:
"yeah. need to zone out man. i get very self concious"
He then did some yoga stretches, said goodbye, and *slayed*
No one introduce this man to cocaine. He would literally explode.
i always forget it's just him doing about three parts at once.
every time i go back to it i start grinning
Kollar's drumming in Mutoid Man is something else. It felt a bit like on Helium Head he just set off like a bottle rocket and the other two were trying to keep up. On Bleeder they're all just on it though.
I'm probably going to miss them on their UK dates. Gutted.
tempted to also go to mcr
was only subsequently he found out it was the dude from Cave In actually! Obviously a 33 year old man doesn't keep up with what's happening in the music world as much as his younger self did.
We went to a few Reading Festivals when we were younger when we were sure Cave In were on the bill. Between about 4 of us we couldn't remember whether or not we'd actually watched them.
Say no to drugs kids.
as I'm going to a friends wedding on Monday. They've added me to a whatsapp group so my phone now goes off with continuous wedding bants.
Probably going to be at Visions for at least some of Saturday. Also might be having a belated birthday celebration for one of my neighbours.
made a pot of coffee
'cause you've quit
There's 2, apparently.
Everyone's gone to London for a big meeting I'm not involved in. Making use of this time to write a short story for Faber's 'Quickfic' competition - get involved! http://www.faberacademy.co.uk/news/2015/08/writing-competitions-quickfic-070815/
Ate a bunch of someone's cereal from out of the cereal cupboard earlier even though I already had a big bowl of porridge before coming in so feel bad for i) being a greedy prick and ii) being a food stealing prick. Should probably go buy some replacement cereal but also really don't want to.
too many whiskys last night. (no such thing)
Cricket again, liquid lunch for a pal who's leaving, I'm aff at 3 to get the train to Norwich for OPENING DAY TOMORROW
Small plates, so we had five. one of them was PAKORA CURRY. It was actually the least good of eth 5, but still. PAKORA CURRY. And methi fenugreek paratha, omg.
Didn't sleep too well as I had massive anxiety and breathing problems, worrying about a cluent meeting I had at 9.30am (which went really well) and my dog's hospital appointment this afternoon, which obviously hasn't been yet and I'm, trying not to think about. *yoga breathing*
Had an absolutely cracking bacon roll this morning with a kind of chutney ketchup that I think had chorizo in it.
Tonight, body pump and yoga, and the rest of the weekend FOOTBALL.
I'm salivating at my desk.
which was fucking bliss. Wish it had been a little warmer out and I had been able to have a bit more wine, but otherwise it was much needed, great stuff.
Trying to shake off this head cold.
Dodgy back so a spot of yoga this morning. The wife is out tonight so I'm on dad duty... thinking of lining up a film from the moviedrome archive http://www.kurtodrome.net/moviedrome.htm any recommendations folks? Off for a walk in the Trossachs tomorrow. Domestic chores Sunday no doubt.
so the Trossachs will be BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
maybe i should get something delivered.
i'm looking forward to a beer later.
the pizza from here is insanely good - http://lafavoritadelivered.com/
not expensive either
