Who's going to be an early adopter then? Ready to move on from Windows 7 (no one sensible is using 8 or 8.1, obviously).
and will get security updates for much longer than either of those two.
but that's not beneficial to you. Security patches are.
Won't be looking at at all it till the turn of the year at the earliest. Let the early adopters iron out the wrinkles. See if I can get in before the free upgrade offer expires assuming it looks okay by then.
which question you are answering. Many thanks in advance.
In answer to your second question it's installing now. Its very blue and cortana has moved in already.
Hmm this is going to take a while to get used to
just so glad I don't have to faff around with all this side bollocks anymore. Straight to the main course with Windows 10.
I'm easily drawn in by novelty and pretty stupid
and their Zionist agenda
Quite like it. Have it on bootcamp on my macbook and I reckon I've used it more than OSX.
and replaced with Edge - essentially the same backend with all the 15 year old cruft ripped out and a brand new shiny frontend.
The future is here!
Annotated with 'interesting boat' I expect.
how can we remedy this? anybody got any ideas?'
with more plugins
who are actually really really nice
into a super machine that takes less that five minutes to boot up.
would recommend it to anyone using that. saying it's better than win8 isn't really saying much though is it.
just the start button being back will be enough for people to go crazy for it
unless you want to be internet bullied by theo, just a heads up
and opening the start button still looks like a tiled, touchscreen nightmare
Can't for the life of me remember how though.
Version of windows 8.1 which was a faster version of windows 7 with questionable ui
....oh hang on, im not sensible....alles ist in ordnung
reserved it a couple of weeks ago
That's what they'll call you.
Go here for info. All completely above board...
Downloaded and then came up with 'Something happened.'
That was it. None of the things I've tried work. Pissing me off now.
but not my parents. I gather if you wait until the point at which you're offered the upgrade through the tool on the taskbar, it will definitely be compatible with your setup. Whereas what I did was just "install a build".
Start menu, yay. Strikes a good balance of Win7 functionality and tiles and Metro business.
Speaking of which - 'apps' are good now! There was no point using most of them in 8.1, as there was a desktop program or website that did the same thing. And it was well annoying for them to take over the whole screen, as if you needed to turn your whole PC into a calculator to do some sums.
But now they launch faster in a normal window, and behave like real programs! There's little difference between apps and programs now, not for the user at least.
The ones that come with, like Mail and Calendar, are loads better than 8.1. Haven't really tried the Music one, but it can't be worse than Xbox Music, and there's always Winamp.
Taskbar is nicer. Once you shrink the Cortana search bar, that saves loads of space (no Cortana atm anyway in the UK). Search is faster and more useful. Virtual desktops, haven't used, but hurrah.
Some rough edges, but so far this seems better than 8.1 - and I say that as a guy who loves brightly-coloured squares.
but now it's not there. i'm mildly unsettled by this.
their long game becomes clear
we all got mugged big time, guys
fucken microsoft, even when they're winning, they're losing
As in, will my 40,000 .wma files still play?
Are there any sweet, psychedelic visualisations?
Which was pants. It takes years to index your files, and seems to be having trouble with metadata, same as XBM. Doesn't have the same sorting options as Winamp (year, genre), doesn't do the windowshade thing, aargh.
But like XBM, there's no reason to use it while Winamp/iTunes/foobar or whatever exists. Stick with what you use, ignore this.
I've already registered and that
