Predictions? Thoughts? Spieth to win again?
I worry that the cold weather front that is to hit later today will cause some issues. It's to be gales and torrential rain- not that this is uncommon in links golf and you might say scotish courses were built with these conditions in mind. But a lot of players won't be cut out for it.
A lot of spectators too *tosses sunvisor back into drawer and plans alternative weekend indoors*
love it when the conditions are appalling.
Think Stenson might do well. Kuchar too.
The predicted havoc may not quite materialise, but it's to be at least levels of 2010 bad BAD.
Some of the holes are played entirely differently the second the wind changes direction, which with 40mph winds could be fun, as you say.
I'm just a bit annoyed as I love st Andrews in the sun but I won't be going now I've seen the forecast.
You've now got me away from my starting point of really NOT wanting to see colin montgomerie's spiral perm droop in the rain, to now actively wanting to see his fake tan wash off, stenson do another furious over teh shoulder wedge toss, and spieth have a full on stiffbodied toddler tantrum in a bunker.
much more fun.
Big ask. BIG ask on the old course with the weather all over the place. Maybe Rory fucked his ankle on purpose.
Might be a seasoned, experienced steady performance what wins it. Like Darren Clarke a few years back.
though Chambers Bay was pretty much as links-y as a US Open will ever be
then piggyback his predictions
Gone for Grace, Stenson and Wiesberger as they are going out early tomorrow which was supposed to miss the worst of the weather. Now it seems to be favouring the other half, so that's probably ballsed it already. We'll see I suppose.
I said before it kicked off that i fancy Stenson, Rose, Kuchar and Fowler. The only reason i don't say spieth is it's almost unimaginable that he could win, isn't it?!
But not really, he won again last week at the john deere and his putting is incredible.
a la Woods 2001-2004 where he doesn't actually miss anything within 10 feet isn't he?
For all the chat about Woods' length off the tee - it was his putting that won him all those majors.
and tiger in his pomp hardly missed anything and it feels like spieth is on a similar putting streak.
i'd be happy to see john daly win! :)
You'll go far.
is going to absolutely piss it.
I think he'll win an Open one day, just not sure it will be this one.
is the easiest to score well on
Winning scores at St Andrews since the mid-80s: -16, -14, -19, -6, -18, 12. It's always been the anti-Carnoustie as it were.
Paul Lawrie is -5 after 9 too! Not to mention everyone's favourite choker Dustin Johnson
he's like the Simpsons of the golf world.
He was playing way to safe. Seemed liked everyone else in the field was attacking during the best of conditions whilst he was pussying it about with irons off the tee.
I know he played that way in 2000 and pissed it but wrong tactic today
even John Daly reached -4
Missed the interview
Had a quick look on bbc for you but not up yet.
How you going for the winner? Really tough to judge now
Fuck knows, there's a good 15 players that can win it I reckon.
Would love to see Sergio win!
What about you?
Amazed by Paul Lawrie, think he is using the conditions to his advantage. I reckon it needs the 3rd round for my prediction, honestly to difficult to call. As you say 15 players are in it, but gutted its rolled to Monday to be honest (TBH)
how will Dustin Johnson blow his chances this time round.
Hope Day wins but it will probably be Spieth again at this rate.
Is this course really easy or something by the way?
Must be a piece of piss.
as I'm playing it tonight.
Winning score is nearly always well under par
I hadn't actually followed this yesterday, what a total stinker.
through yet another bunker. just throw it out mate.
that would be LOL
Spieth must be cursing that one terrible putt that lead to a double bogey.
Hope Oosthuizen can win now.
Would be surprised if he doesn't win a major in the next few years.
I want Louis to win as well now
Alliss saying for the putt at the last 'he's done it' - doh!
