Can't imagine how families (and individuals) recover from things like this.
My sister died when I was 1. I have no conscious memory of her. But I still know that she/someone isn't there any more.
For most - these things don't leave you. You learn to live with and through them.
unbearably awful for all of them, but I feel saddest about his twin brother :(
I'm going to hell aren't I
Obviously tragic though.
you were all thinking it
you're all damned
and i can only wish that by some mercy those affected will find their peace with it in time
In all seriousness this is awful, awful news.
well, Slayer's was, but special pleading ffs
wasn't joking. just saying. Was a sobering listen actually.
and all the really bad stuff that will happen to you has already happened.
Not saying he's had a particularly bad life or anything but you think of someone like that as nicely settled, all his demons behind him, just carries on working making music/films some of which will be amazing, some not so much.
just leave it at :(
how we worry about our kids when they are growing up. We get them through childhood unscathed and think that things should start to get easier and we can worry less. Then shit like this happens. So sad
as he grew up and it was all pointless. Not saying that the kid wasn't careful as we don't know what happened. Again, probably doesn't make much sense.
he's seemed to dote on his wife and kids, they became the subject of so much of his writing. Can't imagine how difficult this must be.
Nick Cave seemed to have left his wild days behind him and obviously was enjoying family life. I think one scene was him just enjoying watching TV with his two boys. Horrible news.
But it was clearly not the place to post it. I did think other people would've had a similar thought is all.
my colleague at work more or less made the same comment when I told her about this
you just end up with a thread about a tragedy where 90% of posts are arguing about jokes.
Perhaps best to accept then ignore them
to include paparazzi shots of the parents visiting the cliff. Classy, Brighton Argus.
opted for pictures of friends visiting the site rather than the parents. Very respectful.
Is that even legal if they're also 15?
For all our plans and hopes and desires, life so often hinges on chance events that are completely out of our hands. Imagine having a son for fifteen years then suddenly one day you don't, all because of a completely unpredictable, meaningless stupid fucking accident like this. Life is so fucking cruel sometimes, how the fuck can you carry on after something like that happens? So so sad.
least they had the sense to delete it.
they don't really care about our outrage either way
I'd be heartbroken. Thoughts to family and friends <3
want to give Nick Cave a big hug ever since hearing this :(
with regards to his career, I would understand if he never made a record again. how do you engage with your creative side again with that kind of enotional trauma pervading all your thoughts?
I mean, the utter severance from someone of all-consuming importance, part of who he is, at this stage in his life? music will still be therapeutic, I'm sure, but how do you assume that artifice again in the wake of losing your child?
to a CEO, HR administrator or Project Manager resuming their career after an all-encompassing personal tragedy. Most people just... do. Because there's no other choice. And Nick Cave is no different to anyone else.
It's one of the most remarkable things about the human spirit - the resolve and the ability to strive to overcome incidents of complete despair.
This story is so, so sad. The poor family :(
The “Cave enjoyed watching violent films with his children” photo caption is one of the worst I’ve ever seen.
what the fuck are they doing and why the fuck are they doing it? like, what's their angle?
That's their angle.
