As a British Indian bloke. I've had that line said to me a few times through the years.
often said while talking about immigration, when the papers seem to talk about little else. My favourite is people saying "I will probably get called a racist for saying this, but...." - basically saying if anyone disagrees with them, they are smearing them as a racist as an automatic argument-ender. What a a tangled web.

they tend to be pointedly talking about Maori or Samoan people on it here (because white people definitely don't use benefits you see - and when they do they use it for the *right* things) so I'm not sure whether in the UK it's less a race thing when people talk about it and more a class thing?
