Looks like Man Utd have signed someone, and Sterling's future is still unresolved.
"Good person, very humble, very educated"
"Remember that I leave Turin for a future career choice, not because I am evil."
drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social I live and breathe this shit
The google translate was posted there at the same time
well happy with that, he's a defender i've actually heard of
Trippier, Dier, Wimmer, Fazio, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Ciriches, Kaboul, Rose
just so you guys can spend the rest of the summer posting Utd lineups
i'd hope we at least bin off Kaboul and Chiriches though
been retired for 6 years now, still only 31 :(
he's better than that, eh? (no offence palace fans)
We've been lined with Cabaye since the end of the season. I refused to believe it could happen, but finally it looks like it will.
Obviously he would be a fantastic signing, but it'll be interesting where he plays.
Puncheon was brilliant last year playing centrally, with Zaha and Bolasie on the wings.
McArthur and Ledley were also great in central midfield, then of course there is Jedinak.
We are also rumoured to be getting Charlie Austin too.
This happened at my local non-league club yesterday. :(
"Tottenham have agreed a deal with the NFL to stage a minimum of two American football games a season over 10 years at their new stadium.
The 61,000-capacity venue - due to open in 2018 - will feature a retractable grass pitch with an artificial surface underneath for NFL games."
"I'm delighted and it's a dream move for me to come here and play for such a big club with all of its history. I can't wait to get started. I've played at Anfield before and know what the atmosphere is all about. It's a great atmosphere and will make me rise to the challenge"
"To sign for a club as big as Liverpool with the history they've got and the place it is - I'm just ready to get started I suppose. I've played in front of the Anfield crowd and it'll be nice to be on the other side of the fans now! The atmosphere they create is fantastic and probably some of the best atmospheres I've played in."
In fairness we obviously make every single one of our new signings say "biggest club in the world" at least fifteen times per unveiling.
Plenty of time for that when all of our transfer targets sign new improved contracts at their current clubs the week before the window shuts.
We're getting our business done early this year, fully expect Ramos, Otamendi, Schneiderlin, Darmian, Schweinsteiger, Kane and a new DDG contract to be announced before we leave for the States on Monday.
Very much doubt that will happen, but it'd be nice to have Europe's greatest WONDERKID learning his stuff at the SPFL coalface.
Haven't seen this Janko play yet, so no idea how good he is.
To the point where it was mildly eyebrow raising that we let him go. A lot like Valencia insofar as he's built like a tank and operates down the entire right-hand side, less like him in that he has a left foot.
if so i could seem him starting there ahead of forrest who is utterly rank
Not really sure where he was playing for Bolton on loan but yeah, he can play anywhere across the right side
Hopefully he's got enough about him to help us perform to a decent standard in the champions league* this season.
*Europa league, following our inevitable howler in the CL qualifiers
So it's possible?
Cech is a great signing and all but goalies are boring
Nothing sums up how rubbish and boring our last two seasons have been more than the fact the fucking keeper won player of the year twice.
Would much rather see him at somewhere like City or Arsenal or something for a few months. Such a fun player
Love him but really don't see the logic in his signing for Barcelona, at all. Hope i'm wrong and he's a useful squad player but that's about as much as I can expect. Doesn't help that his agent says he wants to leave Atletico because "they run too much"
game abandoned on 70 minutes after one of our triallists collapsed. after a few minutes all spectators were asked to leave the stadium, both teams' physios were doing CPR and had to use a defibrillator until the air ambulance arrived. unfortunately it wasn't enough - he died in hospital early this morning. awful, awful tragedy. he was only 23 :(
I nearly went last night its literally five minutes from where I live. I know someone who did.
I posted a link earlier, but not much else so it went unnoticed. Terrible tragedy. RIP.
so they can do some nfl stuff there.
The future's looking bright for you guyz
:D So good
how do you get an unpaid internship in the wagons marketing office? someone is having the time of their life :D
I NEED PEOPLE NO ONE CARES
It's so embarrassing
and a picture of a man making the internationally recognised gesture for 'be quiet'.
and bought that guy with the silly name who apparently was at southampton last season.
lebby, mason, dembele, carroll, pritchard. presumably if no one else is bought the latter 2 won't go out on loan.. (they will buy 6 more).
Wales are officially ranked the 10th best national football team in the world.
1 below England, yes, but above the likes of Spain and Chile.
Seems like a good deal to me.
Loving the quality of that pitch.
Expected him to do a bit better at the top level.
to come in for him so he didn't have to work with Pardew... Bit of a coup for Palace though.
We're just selling everyone to teams in Turkey
(Until Nani and Van Persie knock us out of the CL in the qualifiers)
the length of the smug "We'll buy when we're damn well ready, clearing out the chaff right now" stage, coupled with some wonderfully clumsy opening fumbles, promises a bountiful Monday 31st for all.
Woodward has got everything tied up, we're just waiting for the Nike contract to end so we can parade all the big names that are already done in the new Adidas kits.
We've sorted out a sponsorship with the sky
I'm delighted than we've signed Cabaye. But I'm over the moon that Scott Dann has agreed a new deal. He was immense last year. Apparently we are close to signing Charlie Austin too.
This time 5 years ago we had just avoided liquidation, we had just signed Andy Dorman and had Calvin Andrew up front.
This time next week, I'll be on a plane to Berlin for Union Berlin vs Palace.
Plus last week, my nephew who is constantly playing football, asked for a Palace kit for his fifth birthday next week. His dad supports Chelsea, so this makes me happy.
Get him posting in here
getting DanielKelly back would be a coup.
cgi goal celebrations thing. 1:46 of your life reasonably well spent.
(Think we should all be thanking saps for this)
I thought that was desparate tabloid rumour milling in a slow week.
Fabian Chuffing Delph.
United have safely won round one of the Manchester summer-spendathon.
and a steal if it is 8 million
decent prices too (even if that's mainly due to the Euro rate).
Presume we will be in for Schneiderlin , Otamendi and Kane which will be a bigger outlay.
Although I'm still surprised Valdes is deemed incapable for the job by most fans/media.
Vs the Titans of Sandyfjord mon
Vålengra won 2-0 but score flattered Sandefjord who are bottom of the tippeligaen for a reason. Towards the end the home fans did a conga: https://instagram.com/p/5AUuQhyILt/
at least we play our crap English signings.
although it does show a surprising lack of ambition for a man who by all reports is comically arrogant. He's backing down from the feat of breaking into a currently skeletal midfield that last season featured a guy doing a Greatest Hits tour and Fernando. He doesn't have the injury concerns Rodwell had, so who knows. Maybe this was the week Fabulous Fab turned his back on becoming the next Gareth Barry.
What does worry me is how far down the list we must have gone before getting to him. I guess somebody just felt he was worth a punt at 8 million, and better with us than, inevitably, Spurs. But we're in a serious bind HG-wise - thanks to our transfer committee deciding to put off constructing any sort of plan until after the FFP ruling - and it's really difficult to see us not being hilariously overcharged for two or three Scott Sinclairs at this point.
When you think about just how few classy English players there are around.
You should've gone all in for TC23.
Meant to write "What the list actually looks like".
still got it.
to seeing Schteve at comedy's Newcastle United.
Although some of the decisions which led to the demise of the originals make you wonder how anyone could be as stupid/incompetent as the previous owners of some of these clubs were.
We've got a phoenix on our badge and everything.
As we have activated the replacement deal - Jordy Clasie to Saints.
We're actually going to be really good next season, aren't we?
Dead likeable, too!
Although not as hard as at the Man Utd fan in the foyer with a replica shirt with 'v Perise' written on it.
not for me, clive.
Not even sure if that's "all in"... I hear they boost players wages with a lot of bonuses from City fans on here.
he will become the most expensive Englishman ever, surpassing.......... Andy Carroll!
Getting the hang of this galactico business.
If Liverpool didn't repeatedly get mugged off when buying players, our selling business would be fucking top. £50m for a past it Torres! £49m for a whiney winger who can't shoot! £75m (going up to almost £200m) for a bitey player who was banned for half the season. (granted he is a fucking player though and he's obviously missed massively)
Best midfield we've had in forever.
4-3-3 with Carrick, Schwini and Schneidi in mid, or is Schneiderlin a squad player?
Where do Young, Depay and Fellaini fit in? Guessing Young gets to be a sub which is harsh after last season.
And what about the gorgeous, saintly, Angel di Maria? Don't tell me he's leaving? *sob*
Carrick is now a squad player. Schneiderlin will be his replacement. But without any question, he's an improvement. Defensively and offensively superior. If used correctly, you will notice a lot less pressure on your two central defenders.
I guess I still have the Carrick of 2012-13 in my head, whereas the actual Carrick is nearly 34 and only played 20 games last season.
Carrick, Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin are all essentially the same player. Playing all three of them would almost be as crazy as say playing three left-backs in the team at the same time...
Of 80% meaningless possession? ;-)
Just realised I actually forgot about Mata and Herrera as well....and Adnan Jazzy Jazz
schneiderlin's a fucking great signing, kinda gutted we (arsenal) didnt go for him. way more defensive than the other two and subtly does so much of the hard work in the middle of the pitch that allows the other midfielder a lot of freedom.
carrick and schneiderlin more similar, but if they can find a balance for those two with schneiderlin then the range of passing from several angles in that midfield will be really frightening for any team. even though i think binning him off's probably the smart move there's still an irony to the fact that this is exactly the kind of team van persie (and falcao i spose) would thrive in. if they have that kind of threat from deep it should open up a lot of space on the wing which could see di maria show his quality more often. would require a lot of defensive work from the front three but if they could balance it it could be amazing.
united are doing about as well as could possibly be hoped for this summer it seems. offloading highly paid dead wood in van persie, nani and chicharito whilst signing 4 genuinely quality players in areas that needed improvement, none of whom have been overpaid for apart from maybe depay. get otamendi or ramos for a fair price and somehow keep hold of de gea and that's a dream summer for them. crazy thing is with the way they're going about things currently i wouldn't put it past them doing that and even one more up front perhaps. quite ominous really. i'd still give us an edge over them for next season at least, but thats the foundation of a fantastic team. carrick and schweinsteiger's ages mean they'll need to do more work on the midfield in the next couple of years, and the assumably huge wage schweini will be on is questionable but they're a whole lot closer to being genuine title contenders, which i'd guess they probably have to be considered to be at this point. two weeks ago did not expect them to do anything like this what with woodward's track record, but fair play.
city on the other hand still need to do a fuckload of work. they seem to just be collecting players almost at random, their squad has no real shape to it. doesn't seem like theres any plan in place beyond give it to silva and aguero. they've been so crazily mismanaged in the last 4 years. after that first title win they could have feasibly gone on and won it over and over. having a player turn over as high as they do can't really be good in the long run.
that's a really good, really likeable midfield. eugh. assume that that means the old men will rotate a bit more than the other two.
But this is an extraordinarily generous assessment of Man Utd's progress in the transfer market. How City can be considered, compared to Utd, to be "collecting players almost at random" is beyond me.
no idea on that one tbh.
what i mean is that before this summer united looked like they were in disarray and if they didnt get certain things right they could be in for a fair bit of mediocrity over the next few years. i think they've done those things right and now have the basis of a good squad that could grow into something.
city, on the other hand, really ought to be right up there with chelsea given their resources and the base they've had to work upon over the last few seasons. except they havent really kicked on, have signed a strangely high number of flops, and don't seem to have a plan on how to reinvigorate this current group of players. sterling's a start, cos he's unbelievably high quality (obviously a nob though) but spunking 49 mill on him doesnt tell us anything about the wider plan for how they plan to build a title challenging side again.
on paper at least this is the strongest top 4 the leagues seen in years and bodes well for a good season. my basic point is that united have done well to get their squad to where it is now from a far weaker starting point than city.
Was a lot more fun when Woodward was bungling around flying back from Australia to not sign anyone, sending pretend agents to Bilbao or shitting himself on deadline day and paying £20m for Falcao even though he could barely walk. Assuming they drop some more #bunce on a centre back and a striker, they're starting to look a decent bet for the team who'll be last to mathematically not be able to catch Chelsea next year
by refusing to buy any defenders but having enough midfielders to populate Luxembourg.
Buzzing about next season now.
Schweinsteiger, don't care how he does will just be amazing seeing him in a united shirt
5 years ago
He's not at his best, but it's hard to deny that he's an upgrade on Daley Blind, or Rooney played out of position.
He's not at his best, but it's hard to deny that he's an upgrade on Daley Blind, or Rooney played out of position.
And so likeable!
dont know who you support
so yeah I'd obvs take him, but it's a strange signing from a United perspective imho
big money 3 year deal for a slowwww 31 year old midfielder way past his best?
Just going to end up choosing people whose name I enjoy for my ff team.
That's how I used to keep up to date :(
Last month of the window is the tradition, obviously.
Really, really nervous :(
(official DiS football thread nomenclature 'we')
Was going to get a ticket and I want to go, but not sure I'm willing to pay £45 for Norwich vs Palace. Ridiculous pricing.
Only Manchester City, Chelsea and QPR has more expensive away ticket pricing last year.
Actually just read that Palace are laying on free coach travel to subsidise Norwich's ticket pricing, so perhaps maybe I will go after all.
The socialist in me should have boycotted it really but its a good excuse to go home/want to be there blerg
Is it £45 for home fans too?
Isn't this a category C game? Is so how much will they charge for the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United?
knocked a couple quid off for priority members, how nice of them!
It's grad A actually, I think because London teams are about as Local as it gets for us now and it's the season opener.
TBH I've no idea what would qualify as category C other than cup games, maybe Bournemouth?! I't s a pretty flexble thing but mostly based on us being expensive these days and paying for it anyway. We generally make tickets half price if we're on TV or it's midweek but tbh I've no idea what modern football is
I'm down for Tottenham and Liverpool at home
was fenerbahce really the best he could do? has his injury-proneness put other clubs off?
so that'll be it.
I would have thought someone clever would've written that on the Internet already.
SEARCH AND DESTRO!!
DM and Rojo have a break because of Copa America duties, but Valdes?
United are looking okay though, aside from being horribly light up front.
Scuppered his own loan move back to Sporting Lisboa cyz he asked for too much in wages, idiot
Where he scored 6 goals then got dropped for second half of season #recordsogning
He's been sacked from his last 8 jobs in a row. It would be nine but he resigned before Atletico could sack him.
could have had Capello
we play in black and red stripes, how could we NOT look great, but the new kit is a mess
wtf is going on with that back??!!! looks they've just pasted over something. I'm not 11, so I don't really care but lol
Had no idea that JD Sports even made kits... http://rwdmag.com/premier-league-new-boys-afc-bournemouth-jd-sports-unveil-2015-2016-home-strip/
Which could put a spanner in the Lloris -> United, De Gea -> Real, Ramos -> United merry-go-round.
Bentaleb -> United, Smalling -> Real, Moyes -> United
Oh wait! Darn it, they've gone elsewhere.
if he can keep fit there's a scary amount of potential for what Schweinsteiger can do for man u
Gonna be dead good when he's joined by Lewandowski as well
was decent. pricy, mind.
probably my favourite of the trendy ones
Looks like Di Maria's off to PSG, according to French papers/mates. Think it's a shame, as he we finally have the steel in midfield to accommodate him, but not sure I'd rather him play than Mata or Herera. He wasn't one of our more likeable players anyway.
If anyone's interested.
I'd need at least double to put up with the amount of bants that must go down Chez Shelvs though
Anyone ever done this? Reckon it's feasible or am I an idiot?
(Although the fuckers change them around)
It's right in our busy period at work so I've booked flights to leave on the Saturday and come back in time to go straight to work on the Monday
no problem, they were as high up and as far back as you can go in the nou camp but still they were there
think they just bought tickets from the barca website
Just want to see Messi in the flesh and the Bernabeu before they fuck it up. Hoping to get them via the Madrid site, fingers crossed.
so either real Madrid vs Granada or Getafe vs Malaga. eh.
iirc that clasico is before a champions league week, so it should be on the saturday of that weekend.
This is feeling like more of a stupid, impulsive move the more I think about it.
Which hopefully means it'll be a Sunday evening match, ideal.
They get about £10m don't they? Should cover a decent chunk of whatever FFP fine the Football League end up slapping them with
Bet Rosie got a nice new collar out of that deal
cuz I'm that bored. Arsenal vs Singapore XI to come
Charlie Adam smashes the first home
Considered leaving work 4 hours early to watch the Arsenal game, but not sure I can even justify that to myself, let alone my boss
Everton win 5-4 on pens
Loadsa goals for the yoots, got a couple of sub appearances in the Prem last season while Welbz was crocked, signed a new deal with Liverpool and Dortmund supposedly sniffing around, will join West Brom for £3m in 2017.
Previous statement upgraded to Everton/£5.6m
Second qualifying round for the champions league, at home to Stjarnan. Hopefully won't be a disaster.
any word on Ødegaard?
and definitely won't happen without champions league qualification, so it'd be the end of August if it did happen.
waiting in the sky
saying as about 6 months ago he was being hailed as one of the best in his position at the time
I'd rather he stayed. They're obviously judging Obiang and Payet to be a significant enough step up in quality that he won't get a look in.
Prem wages and a guaranteed route into coaching/management, plus there's personal stuff meaning he wants to return to the North-East apparently.
Will be difficult to replace, but given he's 31 this month, probably too good a deal for him or West Ham to turn down.
Next round draw on Friday, second leg of this round next week. ALL IS WELL.
*Posted a couple of pictures of Reserve games he played in
Valdes doesn't fit into it, apparently...
...or does he just think if he keeps bandying about that word as a foreign manager he can get away with basically being good as Moyes would have been/possibly worse, having spent about 12 billion.
Money spent isn't the be all and end all particularly when the biggest money buys were pretty disappointing frankly.
It's not just additions that LvG made which Moyes didn't, it's binning off the shite that LvG did decisively and Moyes dithered about with.
He just wasn't up to it.
even if it didn't work out
I'm not a Moyes apologist I just think Van Gaal gets away with a lot more (obviously a shedload of titles allow this) and everyone seems in awe when he does anything, and up until now he hasn't proven much at United.
cos a four horse premier league race next season would be a lot better than last years boring shambles
When do we want it? IN ABOUT 11 MONTHS FROM THE INITIAL INCIDENT!!
either Qarabag or Rudar Pljevlja in the third qualifying round of the champions league. Would prefer Pljevlja, just to avoid the trip to Azerbaijan.
But probably won't be :(
but they'll have to do. I wonder if there'll be any animal sacrifices before this one.
Not sure I can take many more vines of head tennis or youtube videos of Leroy Fer scoring tap ins at 5 a side
But the wholesale embrace of social media by Utd is the worst thing that has happened since Fergie retired and, in retrospect, his ability to hold it off for as long as he did will go down as his finest achievement.
Minute-by-minute updates of the Under-19 side's cup games were the final straw.
Thoughts on Benzema?
Sunderland's 'Lee Howey, Lee Howey, Lee Howey, your brother is a cunt.' to the tune of the directline jingle
To the tune of She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain (also Sunderland)
Who the fuck needs Edgar Davids? We've got Jason Bent - to the tune of Glory Glory Man United (Plymouth)
He looks like he's sick, he looks like he's ssiiiiick! Jonjo Shelvey, he looks like he's sick - to the tune of Sloop John B, allegedly (QPR)
he is going down for noncing
as FABIAN DELPH comes full circle on his decision to join. Quite how they managed to slip this one under the noses of the Spanish giants, I'll never know.
Delph is gonna look like a right plonker after all that "doing the right thing" guff, though, isn't he?
they're all great
"Delph’s decision to reject a move to Manchester City was a boost to those who like to think modern-day footballers cherish being on the pitch above all else"
before spurs sell their 2 best players so i feel like i'm missing out
Any Man City fans watch their youth team know how good he is? Seems to be a few surprised that its a permanent deal, not a loan.
and the feeling is he's not likely to break into our first team at any stage. Reckon he'll go on to become a top Championship/Sunderland-level player if he keeps it up, so yeah good deal all round.
As I said above, him turning down having a pop at getting games in our midfield always seemed strange, given his character. It'll be interesting (read: not interesting at all) to find out what influenced his decision behind the scenes. Lot of hearsay it was Villa caving in to Liverpool's pressure to selling Benteke that changed his mind (rather than, let's say, us offering him 50k a week more).
Ultimately 8 mil for a guy who's managed to hold down a place in Roy "Phil Jones" Hodgson's England is not bad business at all. Him and Sterling are not exactly going to be the difference between us knocking Chelsea off their perch and restoring likeableness to the land, though.
But you're out of the real quiz now you've got those two nutsacks. Unless one of them can turn it around like Ashley Young. What a thoroughly likeable chap. https://instagram.com/p/4BawMpjVaK/
you lot know all about witch doctors (your dead mom) arses you fucking weirdo
He's always good for a story, eh.
