Just realised Sean's made a Glastonbury thread on the wrong board.
Catfish and the bottleman, who the fuck listens to these guys?!
Huw Stephens doesn't look comfortable on camera
Ha so what huw and Lauren just did one thing then disappeared
Ok Gemma cairnies on
2005 was a golden year. Those guys are strictly 2003
you might be right
all of these bands either sound like they're straight out of 2005 or like mor indie from 1997. one before on the red button legitimately sounded like bloc party.
wish everything everything man would do his high bit when he goes na na nananananananaaaaaaaaAAh (dunno the words but theres like two songs off of the radio where he does the same thing)
GOOD ONE, AMERICS
The young Charles Xavier in the recent X men films
is chris_is_cool's dad
hope mary's full set is on the iplayer
does anyone think they could genuinely have a replacement for such a high-profile slot (pyramid stage, before the headliners) and keep it a secret
That it couldn't be. It was a very well kept secret too, although I did question the wisdom of them launching a new instagram on this week of all weeks (first proper pic is taken over the shoulder of the pilot who is flying them.in.)
bet their new albums just all old demos but produced by ed harcourt
i read that ed learnt the song today, a bit of improv, the album is supposedly to consist of 1 old and the rest new. today they played 2 very oldies and 1 newie.
I thought Ed was in the studio in London...
I knew because someone took a photo of the mixing desk which had all the band names and one called "Albion".
Plus their manager had posted on Facebook about needing to hire a helicopter.
I enjoyed those two songs and will Spotify more.
Really enjoying it
Over the past few days. Liking it a lot.
Can we agree that drum solos are shit?!
In that I love them. But I know nothing about music.
I imagine this is what regional heats for the X-Factor are like.
Just said something very similar.
would've been better imo
he just sort of appeared on the stage just before the set started
but they all mysteriously died one week before the festival
are able to prevent him appearing on the stage.
It's a very bad sign that he's appeared now.
If you watch carefully you can see him phasing in and out, so he's still weak at the moment. That's something at least.
Leon just wrestled the guitar off him and it looks like he managed to banish him (temporarily).
Leon must be a fairly powerful being.
the longer he plays the guy's own special ghost guitar, the weaker the guy will get
Leon was only able to play it for a couple of minutes. He was too weak
They played in a library in Skelmersdale
proceed to just have the bloke from tame impala singing
complete with hair made out of crepe paper bought from londis
yeah was gonna say that
People in the crowd do the "finger pointing hands in the air" thing. Probably need to drop some pills to be able to enjoy this.
like no pills.
they must spit in each others mouths and everything
for a second there
But that would have been a good suggestion :!
This week. I think that may have been better for her.
Live music is shit
Just FYI, it's not live music if like us you're sitting at home (admittedly having joyous trips to loo and nodding at loo roll and running tap water.)
He's far too much fun for a rainy afternoon slot.
is creepy imo
had I remembered, I might have turned over to the Lemmy film at the start rather than the end :(((
fucking hell, though, Florence and the Machine headlining? I know Sean and associated evil forces killed music a few years ago, but... Upsetting.
But in fairness to somebody who has been asked to step up to this level (and length) of performance, I'm going right behind her. But not if I have to look at those awful wide leg up crack trousers, argh
her stepping up, that's kind of immaterial to me. people are giving big performances and stepping up to bring awful things into the world all the time.
stepping up to a brief for a really big advert, yeah?
Is Fran Healy levels of bad

patti smith > lionel richie might be the best festival transition of all time.
that, or the worst, though more likely the best.
all on a sunday afternoon. patti smith at 2.15, on the pyramid stage. seems utterly surreal tbh.
Does anyone know of any pubs in London showing the Kanye performance tonight? Or at least ones that are likely to?
bbk, ghostface & rae and drake all also playing wireless tomorrow
rumoured chris martin is appearing
and 2 chainz after mike put something on instagram last week
i reckon he's gonna do blood on the leaves and black skinhead. i don't like and then into all day, with SPECIAL GUESTS.
#thehits - probably power, stronger, golddigger, good life, touch the sky, all falls down, jesus walks, can't tell me nothing and all of the lights. chris martin rumours might mean homecoming.
hope he does a bit with only one and the cameras will go on kim and it'll be brilliant.
would really like hey mama and 20 minutes of runaway but he's done that coachella etc. and is he a bit past the half hour rants now?
hope he has a giant screen. multiple giant screens like cruel summer.
I reckon we might get a couple of brand new songs that nobody has heard yet. Kind of expecting (but hope otherwise) him to bring on Macca and Rihanna and close with 45seconds.
also, he might not do runaway. depends on the staging. he's done that before with himself all stripped back/sampler (vmas or was it the movie awards?) OR loads of dancers. seems a bit too much and pointless after all the amazing mbdtf staging at coachella.
can't see jay doing it though. would be good, obvs, but it's been four years since wtt and there's no actual point to cut into an amazing kanye-and-a-few-special-guests spectacle with twenty minutes of paris and gotta have it.
he's been doing a couple of new and unreleased tracks live recently. definitely going to be new stuff. probably the debut of a new single with 2 chainz.
jay didn't bother with anyone
fewer guests the better, imo
Kanye performance is gonna be amazing there's no way it can't be at this point
I always thought he did, but now there are guest vocalists.
Hw's at an age now where his vocal chords are very delicate, so he only sings a few songs which are right in the centre point of his range. Which means he sings about 1/5th of them on a good day. Amazing creature though.
He always sings raindrops after the medley, so if he hasn't done that today then I'm a wee bit sad/worried for him.
Lots of affection for this guy I swing between tearing up and singing (shouting) along. Praying the Diana Ross look/sound alike does her Anyone who has a heart solo. I am praying as I don't imagine I'll get to see him alive again and I am m taping this.
Full on desperately wished I was there amazing. Was cleaning the house and singing along to every song.
*collapses in exhausted happy tears*
can't bring myself to ever watch live music on the tv. Just seems so wrong.
Jamie XX & Hot Chip both looked fun, and thought Flo & The Mac really nailed their slot. Looking forward to the final three acts on the Pyramid later, should all be worth a watch.
RE: Ye's set tonight. If you don't mind possible spoilers, there's his setlist from a gig last week here - http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/kanye-west/2015/philips-arena-atlanta-ga-53c9730d.html
... which is pretty hit-filled, along with his usual smattering of oddities. Arguably all of his 'big' singles are in there though, apart from Stronger (which I could do without, to be honest). I'm sure there will be some Glasto specials - Bon Iver and Chris Martin have been papped around London this week, so maybe we'll get Homecoming and Lost In The World. Personally I'd love to see him drop all the covers, drop all the rants, drop all the new material and just rattle through a greatest hits set, but you know what he's like.
Her song seems to be in a key she can't get down to. Dreadful.
The Maccabees were referenced on TV recently, unless I imagined it. it was really weird. can't remember what it was.
actually can't be sure it was recent.
it was weird, though.
Instead of doing so and then being detractor/dullard.
I mean, you read that the wrong way - I was just getting at how it used to be loads of indie bands and that it seems old-hat and novel amidst all the Radio 1 pop stuff.
really something off about the way you've come at me, here, though.
You're being hyper sensitive. Don't come into a thread about a pop concert and then wrong your knickers about pop music.
Although wrong works too.
It's OK to be angry about Syria while letting your hair down and enjoying the macabbees being delightfully shallow and fun.
I'm not in the habit of going into threads about things I just think are rubbish and laying into them. I always watch Glasto on television, so of course I'm going to have an opinion. and what's so bad about having a negative opinion, I mean really?
your knickers are way twistier about this. so what I don't think it's all great?
Or match of the day, perhaps...
I definitely remember an out-of-context Maccabees mention.
No idea who he is, pals, but enjoyed it.
Looking forward to George Clinton and friends later.
hadn't check out the new album. fly off on holiday on monday and reckon it'll be the perfect holiday soundtrack.
Totally agree. Haters gonna hate. This is Glastonbury, not Austin, let's have some TUNES and I'll punch the next cunt that says 'oh but, strange syncopation'.
Might have to pick up her most recent album.
Was a yank, he'd be viewed as some sort of god wouldn't he?
But to answer Dillinger's point, Spiritualized are fantastic and sorely underrated.
although that should be enough really, it's the fact he's done that on top of the Spacemen 3 stuff too. Sound of Confusion is immense.
So much for everyone getting their knickers in a twist.
but feels a little bit like he's made it a sort of one man art exhibit thing rather than a show
was how hot it must be under that light set up.
he must be fucking boiling
Coming onstage to a sold out audience.
Giving up on this.
need to catch him live.
Frank Ocean! yeahhh.
it's absolute solid brilliance.
on the keyboards DJ DJ dddddddj ddddj DJ
was Justin Vernon's idea. What an absolute nob
Doubt he's got a spare one up there with him
Enjoy the Who!
Couldn't walk off the stage afterwards.
I'm going to bed
still good, might be bit harsh cos I'm just comparing it to his 2012 Coachella headline, which was ridiculous
where he just got a bit bored and wandered off
Top trolling. On par with yer man KIK in the football threads.
That didn't come off did it? Kanye was a failure. Thought I'm sure the Eavis's will applaud him and no doubt this Saturday night rap headline will become a 'thing'
but I bet you'll get that with The Who tomorrow an' all. First 40 minutes and last 40 minutes was grand.
still a million times better than the Who or flozza & the machos
Saw them at Glasto last time and got bored quite quickly.
not sure what I was expecting - I guess the 'one man exhibit' that someone described it as earlier was pretty much it. As much as I would have liked to see loads of guest appearances, a backing band and pyrotechnics I thought he delivered.
Also Lee Nelson is a massive, massive knob who I hope got a thorough pummelling from security for interrupting black skinhead
wasn't disappointed. shame about all the faults and stopping and starting. really glad it was just yer man bon iver (shame he'd already done coachella and it wasn't new and exciting) and tony, too. anyone who says he wasn't the most exciting and probably the best pyramid stage headliner since 2011 is lying or is just really stupid.

I hate em.
gonna check the perfume genius and flying lotus sets I think
neither is ffs.
would've thought there would be more sets on the red button by now. budget cuts or something?
where they didn't have before
THIS MEANS THEY'RE BEING STREAMED!
just 'Queen' :(
on the West Holt Stage feed it just says "SORRY - At the artist's request, we're unable to bring you this performance"
(haha, that reads like Sigur Ros lyrics)
steven you dickhead
still miffed, tho.
Was the Sleaford Mods set televised in the end/any good? Might see if i can find it
Just finishing up now on John Peel.
just want to say how much I hate mark radcliffe.
probably the closest thing to a female grimmy radio 1 have and will ever have
Mark E Smith appears to have pissed himself.
some kind of bourgeois contextless world music danceathon on the red button at the moment. good god.
wish lianna la havas had more interesting music. her voice is great but the arrangements are so dull and the band are boring
killing it #futureheadliner
yeah this is amazing
says at the artists request? why twigs, why.
waiting for FlyLo atm, who I assume that notice is for.
you should be able to watch the whole twigs set later, I should imagine.
"Sorry - At the artist's request, we're unable to bring you Flying Lotus' performance"
one of the few things i was actually gonna watch
Of whoever is on now, you should be able to skip back to when she was on.
is obviously for flylo, not her
are they rubbish or any good? Not prepared to make my own judgement
Good tunes and good show seeing as they've ridden a massive wave of success in the past couple of years.
At least they're not clean bandit
they were on Jools, which means they're Legitimate Music.
that the iPlayer's volume on this goes up to 11?
Sounds like a yes to that question...
Russell Mael's wig!
future island man did some of his dance moves at glastonbury festival
Somebody tell them I hate them
the end of the libertines' set on friday was one as well
they're a bit Jools Holland
guys it's not the 70s anymore, tinnitus is now recognised as a real problem
But that hasnt stopped old Pete breaking the rules before
The kids are alright, apparently
should have put them on the john peel stage
bit aren't The Who's 'generation' all babyboomers - i.e. bad?
on the Pyramid stage?
she must be knackered
they must be punished for this performance by headlining Sunday at Glastonbury every year to an increasingly hostile crowd and with increasingly fatigued bodies
(it's a reference to above)
of ROCK (it's a compliment)
they should have done a song for the JURASSIC WORLD film
because they are a good band
For festival bookers. Hits aplenty.
*goes into Bob's body*
Bob is drunk and sad because The Who are old and not good anymore.
they should put the words on that big backdrop like they do at the karaoke
pete townshend sweats so violently the drummer needs a protective plastic screen
Going to rewind it to the start, get another wee calming booster and watch it all again with that knowledge.
someone fooled them yet again lol
He Actually took down the plastic drum screen.
Can this be real?
but certainly one of the CALMest
comes in half way through the setlist. wtf.
Which I do. So it was.
I enjoyed lots of it, but it could have been *so* much better.
I'm sure it'll tail off a bit around the inevitable 15 minute long wailing after Runaway but fuck it, it's the equivalent of a self-indulgent guitar solo and I'm behind it.
His shows with Jay-Z a few years back were immense. Now that would have blown everything else at Glastonbury out of the water.
A different guest to yer man there would have worked a treat but no chance of that kind of concession to an audience really is there and more power to him for it.
Can you ask him how Mike is?
Since when did festival recordings sound good on the radio.
how many times can you hear the word surreal in one day?
laughing so hard
didn't even go to the pyramid once and only outing to the other was about 15 minutes of mark ronson which was frankly far too long.
was a complete fucking mess, almost as if they hadn't rehearsed it
Grandmaster Flash's scratching was cringe-y bad.
