Pretty pretty pretty cool.
we've got travel and drive thrus. interested to see where we can go from here because of the price limit.
It's significantly higher in Australia, for example.
really need to start issuing them as standard and replacing old PDQ machines with newer ones i reckon
They refitted our one out and there's still no contactless.
Can't come quickly enough IMHO
Depends on if they scrap the fees that vendors are charged at the same time, really.
Android Pay / Apple Pay are coming soon right?
and they have to sign up for it
apple pay is imminent in uk, still not buying an iphone tho
I mean all payment via electronic means is a transfer, isn't it? Where does Apple Pay end up? Right now I presume you can install a PayPal app and pay other PayPal people if you like.
the phone number thing is for bank transfer to other accounts only
maybe apple pay can do them too
I thought we were discussing this under thewarn's paying your dealer thing, hence my confusion :D
It's released whenever that might be .
And platform 9 at clapham junction, that machine has got the better if me too many times, not having change was my only line if defence
Robots will now keep us as pets rather than kill us off.
they've got it on the Newcastle Metro ffs.
Just use the card in place of Oyster, shirley?
Not sure I understand.
as I have a zones 2-6 only, so if I go into zone 1 I need some PAYG credit.
Perhaps bmr is similar?
so if i have to go outside of zone 2 i need money on it as well
1) If you have a contactless card then you can travel without going near a ticket machine. TfL would prefer you to do that if possible,
2) The upper limit on transactions. You wouldn't be able to buy any ticket 7 days or longer using contactless because of the price.
3) Cost benefit. Doing this would require an upgrade programme which would cost money. The benefit realised would be pretty small considering it's the difference between tapping a card (and then another one if you're loading stuff onto Oyster) and shoving a card into a hole and typing a number. The place where speed advantages can be realised is at the gateline, as people make a lot more journeys than they do ticket transactions.
Widespread takeup of contactless is a first step on the road to the inevitable death of the Travelcard.
however I am going to continue to be annoyed about this very slight and infrequent inconvenience
I'd rather not get my debit card out of my wallet each time (don't want card clash!) and my oyster is separate.
Plus less risk of my debit card getting lost/dropped/stolen by a rogue seagull attached by the shiny chip every time I get it out.
i do. classic wallet that's two bits that fold on top of eachother
what i do is i keep my oyster card in one "wing" of the wallet and my two (2!!!! count them) contactless cards in the other wing. unfold the wallet to use the oster card on the reader
a rogue seagull attached to the shiny chip on your debit card, there's a high chance he could fly off with it. Less chance the seagull will lose or drop it though if it's attached, so that's a plus.
When I said I didn't the lady at the counter went all wide eyed and said Oh good for you, etc, keep off the radar, it's so scary how your bank can monitor everything you do now etc.
Would trade it all for a cashless vending machine.
Equally traceable, surely?
Just can't get enough of them herbal cigarettes.
that sounds like a radio-wave based hardware wholesaler but not having a contactless card, to be honest.
just put that near things to pay. Great stuff. Credit card left, debit card right.
More people are likely to steal a card or wallet than would be prepared to commit ABH
if you bashed the top an bottom option on the chocolate machine, FREE CHOCOLATE.
I fancy a snack (or drink), so shall use this for the first time RIGHT NOW.
All yr standard choccy bars available, less crisps than you'd expect. Drinks are CANS and bottles.
What shall I get?
Or a Twix.
Galaxy Ripple or a Flake, I guess. Or something that mixes the salty and the chocolate, like a little pack of nice choccy biscuits?
CARD PAYMENT UNAVAILABLE
drinks one was but I didn't want a drink
taste like Eccles cakes
I'm going to be very upset
I just thought that sounded like the sort of thing he writes for mclusky/FOTL/Christian Fitness lyrics.
