Nice little city to spend a couple of days in, and we stayed in a boat on the Danube which was kinda cool, but if you were in that part of the world you'd be better off spending a couple of hours on the train and going to Vienna instead/as well imho. About 10,000 more things to do in Vienna. Same for Budapest or Prague too depending on your travel plans.
Croatia - beautiful coastline, still fairly cheap, although Dubrovnik is extortionate compared to everywhere else in the general Balkan area (but compared to London or Paris it's still cheapo) and is totally swarming with Game of Thrones fans. Krka National Park is beautiful, Trogir's a lovely town with a lot of history, Split's nice too. the marketplaces are pretty cool. Bosnia is better though.
Lithuania - Vilnius is quite nice, dirt cheap (you can get a meal and drink in a restaurant for under 5 euros, and cider in the supermarket for well under a euro), check out the KGB museum/prison and the Republic of Užupis, it's a tongue-in-cheek self-declared independent region not far from the city centre with its own constitution (which can be found in 15 different languages including Gaelic on a stretch of wall there) and loads of weird artwork. nice airport, not nice bus station. pretty untouristy city all in all. 'achu' means thank you, quite difficut to say with a straight face cos it sounds like you're sneezing
Latvia - Riga's Old Town is beaut but loads of drunken stag do maniacs, much more touristy than other Baltic capitals. some places are really cheap (there's a few branches of a buffet restaurant called Lido where you can get a meal/drink for 3 euros) but others not so much although if you like panoramic views it's worth going to the Skyline Bar at the Radisson Blu to get cocktails, you can see for miles. if you want to shoot guns there are loads of shooting courses you can do around the city. local spirit, Black Balsam, is pretty gross.
oh and in the cities for all these countries, virtually everyone you're likely to need to speak to speaks English.
