oblivion deluxe edition - £20
GTA - £40
its just a mundanity simulator
get far cry 3 instead, that's bo as oat
GTA V is also great
it should have been a tighter, more scripted experience in a smaller space that steadily builds into the sprawling map, rather than just chucking you into its hugeness and watching you drown in the blandness of the big city.
Tbf the game is a masterpiece in many many ways, but its also completely lifeless and soulless and just leaves me cold and bored after any period of play.
Imagine having to do yoga (a scripted introduction to one of the many extra available things)
Yeah you're right, it should have been more scripted...
Personally the openness of it was perfect for me, reminiscent of skyrim and a lot of the side objectives and details were really great.
Also, 5 minutes of 100's of hours worth of gameplay is fine for me.
Obviously Skyrim is probably still my favourite game of type ever, but GTAV is a close second.
its debatable whether yoga should appear in any video game at all, let alone a crime simulator. Fine if its an optional extra, stick whatever padding in there you like, but force me to do it? Utter, utter shite.
Thinking about it I might just be GTA'd out after 3, vice, san andreas and 4 - they're all very similar games. The only real step up that 5 made was in size. There's no real effort made to create something new and exciting, its just more of the same with better graphics and a bigger space to play around in. Brilliant if I hadn't experienced the same thing in the step from 3/vice to san andreas - same game, different protagonist, bigger map. Then back to a tighter game in 4 and back to the same game, different protagonist(s), bigger map with 5.
I'm putting the game down but I still think it represents some kind of pinnacle for what a game can be
get far cry & skyrim.
and those damn fucking Oblivion gates ruined it for me.
on PC is almost as pretty as Skyrim.
and canned responses from every NPC
If only they mentioned how their own career in adventuring got curtailed by a particular leg joint injury every single time instead.
It's weird to get used to, has a very different feel, but I've been enjoying it so far
It's only £23 on Amazon. Got amazing reviews. Obviously would prefer DiSers' awful opinions.
Visuals are pretty great. Dialogue is annoying. Lack of split screen is infuriating. The rewind thing makes it way too easy if you use that.
Wasn't expecting dialogue. Just can't quite work out what it is. Basically Midtown Madness, but with sick cars?
By dialogue, I mean the nauseating backstory about the BEST EVER music and cars festival in Europe that will CHANGE YOUR LIFE but who cares about the story in a racing game anyway
"Equity in your home? WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Get that of there."
The base game of Oblivion is pish, maybe the worst of the whole series in raw terms. Once you've modded it however, it really shines, and many of the quest paths completely outshine Skyrim's. I also think the procedurally generated quests in Skyrim is real fur coat no knickers stuff, and the handcrafted quests of Oblivion are much better.
but not played Skyrim or Morrowind
