Més que un club
despite being under a transfer ban. FOOTBALL :)
They just can't register players until January 2016. Be interesting to see what happens to Vidal and anyone else they sign between now and January
Speaking of Vidal, he seems a decent right back and signing Sevilla players has worked well enough for Barca in the past, but I'd be very concerned about letting Alves go given his form this season. Dunno what they can really do though given how ludicrous his wage demands reportedly are.
I'm going to get outrageously ANGRY about this, I've decided
because they appealed against it, and while that was being heard they signed two of Saturday's goal scorers and the keeper, plus a couple of the substitutes, surely. Still, I suppose it's good money for Vidal to kick his heels until January, but who knows what Alves was after if no one is better value at right back until after Christmas.
Alves allegedly will only accept being the second highest paid player, on a 3 year contract. Brilliant club servent, best RB in the world last season, but it's a big ask. Still the club's hands are tied and I suppose it might work out best for them. They really should've just gone all out for Danilo though - probably the only RB of the required quality, style and age on the market.
Which means Barcelona could sign players then before it started and play them straight away - unless they were banned for other stuff - but anyone signed this year wouldn't be able to play until January 2016 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30633737). Though if Barcelona can't afford his wages, there aren't many clubs that can. PSG maybe? More likely than City or Chelsea.
it's a semantic point but what i meant is that "transfer ban" has never really been accurate, as with Vidal (and possibly/probably a few others this summer - Pogba?), it's proven they've never not been allowed to buy players (what i'd call a transfer) - just register them as barcelona players or play them until january 2016.
PSG have apparently ruled him out, and not sure Chelsea or City are interested. New moneybags Milan are heavily rumoured right now, and clubs can always afford more on wages when they don't pay a transfer fee. Agree there's not that many options though and it might force his hand into staying
which is a shame, would've been well up for watching USA - Australia but not at half midnight
We kick off our debut World Cup campaign at midnight againt Cameroon. Suspect its gonna be a humdinger.
of just buying whichever British player got a 7/10 average rating in the papers last season.
This week: Danny Ings
Fully expecting this to be bumped next year as he finishes the season with one goal against Derby in the League Cup and two in the league (both the third goal in a 3-0 victory against relegation fodder coming off the bench)
Talk about living the d.ream.
Will probably be in the £8-10m range after arbitration but so far this window's had a lot more of the low cost high upside business Liverpool don't do enough of.
We'll probably wazz about £30m on Benteke now but so far so good.
Shame Barca won it. Pogba looks like a hell of a player.
Definitely no better than Park/Rafael in CM
of all of Juve's players walking down the stairs whilst one of them lounged on the escalator.
*ie I am better than you
Felt like he wasn't really showing enough commitment.
can something interesting or at least funny happen now. Like united signing Mahrez or Schlupp
"Sweden vs Nigeria tonight, could be tasty."
Not really, I do like women's football. Sure, it's not as fast, but otherwise it's pretty decent stuff. They need to make the goals a wee bit smaller, mind. This probably sounds really sexist. I'm not trying to do that, sorry.
I think the BBC are just trying to avoid confusing angry knuckleheads complaining, having thought they might be missing out on football by making it clear it's 'only' women's football.
I'm not the first person to suggest this. Oh man, I knew this would be misconstrued.
Now I know how Sepp feels.
it's just a really, really funny suggestion
there is an argument for it, but it doesn't stop it from being funny ;)
It does undermine the quality of the women's game (which is really high) when stuff that would be saveable goes in thanks to the unarguable physical differences of the genders (for the most part)
This is what I meant to say.
also the name, issue, just the same as calling every team the U20s innit?
will be following this closely
i.e. even if it's official it's someone else doing it for him.
Looks game for some quality windups for a week or two, mind.
Football boss Harry Redknapp denied tax dodging by telling police "I couldn't even fill a team sheet in", a court heard today.
The Sun columnist said he struggles with literacy, adding: "I write like a two-year-old and I can't spell."
He also claimed he was "the most disorganised person in the world" during interviews with City of London detectives in 2009.
In tape recordings played at Southwark Crown Court, Redknapp said: "I can't work a computer, I don't know what an email is, I can't, I have never sent a fax and I've never even sent a text message."
He added: "I have a big problem, I can't write so I don't keep anything. I am the most disorganised person, I am ashamed to say, in the world."
Woeful execution. Had the potential to be as good as notBigSam
He's twigged the sweet no-pressure loadsamoney potential of being a Director of Football about five years too late, I see.
African women cannot defend set-pieces to save their lives.
but yeah, the female ian harte is loafing around immobile at full-back, occasionally wafting in a perfect set-piece
maybe they're confident of beating aus + usa
Can't say Cameroon haven't been the better side though
this is a good game, though. some great moves from Australia in the final third.
haha, I bet the naysayers have never watched a high-quality women's game. loads of potential, given more investment.
and very deserved too
it's like travelling in basketball, happens all the time in the men's game, but never gets called.
basically because TV, it does in Europe and the difference is quite remarkable
where they show someone getting hit with the ball!! And a montage of cute babies!!
(actually there are some decent highlights in it this time)
does a fall-over-get-up thing to get past the full back
we got incredibly lucky, never a pen and Bachmann looked really good. something about the mark of a great team something win while playing badly
I may have this'ed that post then fucked off for a week.
It's one thing getting a shoeing by one of the top teams, but Cameroon are ranked below us. I was impressed by Cameroon's attacking though, just burnt our defence for pace most of the game.
Going to need two big performances against Switzerland and Japan if La Tricolor are going to claim the title.
drink that in.
