Anybody got anything to say? Theo?
it's a birthday present to me
as in different devices have a different look/feel depending on what peripherals they're connected to.
Otherwise not really that bovvered
'yes, we've brought the start button back ffs!'
Thought it would be late Autumn.
Like X-Men: Days of Future Past - it salvaged the good bits of the one before, then conveniently retconned it out of existence.
seems like a better 8.1, which is actually a pretty good OS... yeah I'm in
is it worth it to get a Windows 8 PC now and deal with it for a month adn a half before upgrading to Windows 10? or should i just wait to buy it at the end of July with Windows 10 pre-installed? QUESTIONS.
just get it the now
The "Search the web and Windows" bit on the taskbar is horrible and utterly pointless. Why does it need to be there when clicking the Start button - literally right next to it - have exactly the same function? A complete waste of screen and icon real estate. They've annoyingly gotten rid of Snipping Tool, which is something I use very regularly. The new icon design, the wifi symbol aside, is HIDEOUS. Could've been made on MS Paint it's so bad. It's like they've tried going for the Jony Ive flat design on MS Paint but failed horribly. The Start button menu with its massive Fisher Price icons is horrible and pointless too, never going to click any of that. It's a mess. 3 stars.
That's pretty cool. Will doubt I'll bother though.
You'd expect a big IT firm to be at least able to count.
They're skipping 9 because 10 is cooler (OSX!). Or, if you prefer, there's bunch of legacy Win 9x code that would play havoc (because of the 9). Or it'd get lost in amongst Win 9x search terms. Hmmmmm. The whole numbering thing is fairly arbitrary, anyway, when you try and unpick and reconcile the overlap and parallel of consumer versions of Windows and numbering of Win NT in the past.
are all windows 8
which is great.
My home laptop is a Windows 8.1 touchscreen, and with a slower processor Windows 8.1 is a complete chore. It's easier to do things on my android phone than on 8.1.
