Is that the real real quiz?
how Sunderland have been playing Adam Johnson for the last month and no one's seemed to care
Here's a pretty decent piece on Ramsey's appointment
Me - I'm broadly in favour. He got some of his tactics wrong, but he was left a squad with no left winger, no full backs, 5 centre backs with the average age of 33, one fit striker and a load of stroppy loan players. He instilled discipline in refusing to play people with bad attitudes (the amount of leaks out of the club have also declined dramatically) and he would play young players in their proper positions - for all the wailing over Darnell Furlong's roasting at the hands of Sanchez 1. He's done that all year to much better & experienced players 2. We only lost 2-1 3. Both those goals were defensive system errors rather than Furlong's fault. The experience for the lad will be invaluable. He's also been the first manager since Holloway to improve what we have - under Redknapp, Phillips looked shot, now I'm not sure we can hang on to him.
Further more he beat West Brom 4-1 away on my wedding day.
I'm happy enough. We need a long term thinking, and he'll provide that. We'll need about 14 players in the close season and I believe Ramsey will bring in the right mix of young talent and grizzly veteran.
We probably need a couple of seasons in the championship to recover, and try to rebuild our very soul. I think Ramsey's a decent enough punt on that
Like good adviiiiii-ice you just didn't taaaaake.
There's already a better feeling around the club when watching them - but whether this can transfer into better performances is another thing.
That said - this is the move that the club has been crying out for. Any semblance of a plan must be a step in the right direction. Interested to see the sorts of players that we go for. Needs to be a good mix of youth, Championship experience, and then if we're to perform well that one player to make the difference - probably a loan if we're not going to be splashing the cash around.
We're gonna need a lot of players
GK - Green will go so promote McCarthy and hope Murphy lasts another year in that cyrochamber
RB - I'd like to see Harriman be given a go with Furlong as back up
CB - I suspect Caulker and Ned will go (who'd buy them though), Rio & Hill gone. I smell a one year extension for Dunne. Ehmer to get some playing time so think we need a couple in here
LB - Yun, then Robinson once he's back from injury
RM - Phillips will go so we need someone here
CM - Probably extend Tory Henry for a year, get rid of Barton, hope we can sell illegal immigrant Sandro (the most un beast like beast ever). So really we're looking at like 3 in here, and more playing time for Doughty
LM - No one to replace to begin with
Striker - Bobby will probably retire, Charlie will go as will Fer. So that leaves us with Grego-Cox who I like the look of but is incredibly raw. So we need a few in here too.
So this is a real opportunity to wipe the slate clean and completely remodel the club. Let's hope we take it
Everyone's forgotten Onohua exists so he'll probably stay.
He bossed the championship last time round. Main worry is he was signed in the Hughes bunce-a-thon so is on £££
but if you can afford to keep the likes of Caulker, Hoilett and Onuoha around for a year then they should easily be good enough for a push to get straight back up, no? Get a better price for them off the back of a decent season too.
What about Faurlin, is he fully banjaxed now?
So that would be nice. But two major ACL injuries I'm not holding much hope
Hoilett is absolute garbage to the point I think Ramsey was justified in playing Karl Henry on the wing over him. Even his cross in the play off final that caused Zamora's goal went to a Derby player first
They seem to bring out the worst in each other's games. They're both been best when paired with Dunne
I hope to god they get rid of Barton. Can't stand him. Have been told he's been responsible for a lot of ill feeling within the squad, as he's quick to accuse someone of not pulling their own weight, but does not take criticism well.
Big cliques in the dressing room - it's not all the foreign lot's fault.
My knowledge of footballers who would be good at Championship level is so poor these days.
Also been told that Shorn Right Flip is really funny and a lot of people like him. Mostly funny in that he's thick as fuck, but lovable.
Bizarrest moment of our time.
However a guy who comes to the pub with us won a trip to a training day and said that SWP actually was v impressive. He doesn't lack enthusiasm, he's just shit. Not his fault the club gave him a stupid contract
Dunno why, just a hunch...
Hoping for a few changes tonight. This having a settled line up for 60 games in a row thing is fine, but the players all look knackered now. Seems like a good chance to give the likes of Sanchez, Giroud, Ramsey, Cazorla, Koscielny and Monreal the night off.
Is today on my copy of Football Manager. (Man City beat Olympiakos 4-0, Aguero hat-trick [twp pens] in case you care)
Gotta be soon, right? Not even sure who's in it. Sevilla?
vs. Dnipro Dniproarjherhg9erhgsnkhnfwjfvetsk
I was stuck on them on one of those "guess the club from the logo" quiz apps for AGES. Russian (?) wankers.
Depending on your political persuasion
FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk v Sevilla FC
Tickets are still available, obviously
Can watch that at work, happy days!
Some good names on there, though from an Arsenal point of view I'd only really want us to sign Milner and Carlos Zambrano (never heard of him, but "no-nonsense Peruvian centre-back" sounds much too fun to ignore)
but I got genuinely excited when I thought he was signing last summer, I'd be well chuffed if he came.
The thought of him wandering around clubless all summer brings me great joy
Barton was being fairly widely tipped as having a realistic chance of signing for us. Real end of days stuff.
as when people were calling for us to sign Balotelli last summer
In the Leeds midfield.
but the chairman says he won't drop his wages beyond what he's on with us, which is strange because he's always saying it's about the football and he doesn't care how much he gets paid
Can we use today to vote through the motion that the phrase "the real quiz" should no longer be used, correctly or otherwise, in these threads? Thanks in advance for your approval.
Early indications suggest you've lost by infinity votes.
See previous annoying repetition:
Sure it's all a bit over hyped but great nostalgia and all 'the guys' came out of it really well.. good watch.
Makes me sad to think all this stuff was 20 years ago now (I'm old)
Just a load of fairly boring guys and Gary Neville talking about things they remember.
The (last ever?) Hyundai A-League Bloopers!
*this time in the appropriate thread.
Absolute gold as always.
Cheers see you later.
despite having an extra player
thought that was obvious
Ronaldo (that one)

in London no less!
that was good
Let's get 'No Points for 0-0' going again. Or meths' super league. One or the other.
