Anyone going in for that old shite? Reckon I might dip my toe in.
It's schlocky as fuck but quite fun in a b-movie nonsense kind of way.
all a bit familiar though
Looks nice enough, fun cast, silly central mystery, plot and atmosphere cobbled together from pretty obvious sources. I enjoyed the first episode, hopefully it'll be the shamelessly addictive bullshit I wanted Under The Dome to be before that turned out to be rubbish. Also M Night Shyamalan is involved so there's always the possibility it'll be a full-blown fiasco before too long.
I hope so!
in the town welcome sign - and for now only there.
Shall I bump this thread then?
very silly. Will watch the second half though and probably the rest of the series.
So yes, please do so.
Seen both episodes so far.
It's utterly ridiculous but quite fun. Will get steadily worse, won't it?
Is it just me or does Matt Dillon look ill?
(haven't seen or heard about it)
got 3/4 of the way through the first episode
not sure if i'm going to finish it or not
Surprised there's not more love for it on here
played a little too serious for me. Not bad otherwise, but the anticipation of waiting for it to inevitably go off the rails (because it's Shyamalan) is distracting.
It's got some laugh-out-loud ridiculous moments in it but somehow it's still very watchable.
I'm watching it with a friend, not sure I could be bothered on my own.
Bit of a sea change at the end there.
Matty D cannot do running, especially crouch running. It is hilarious.
really hoping for a 1 season only all wrapped up thing
has stepped up a bit in the last couple of episodes
interested to see how they are going to explain the time differences - 5 weeks = 12 years?
but will watch the first series & see from there
Did those books conclude? I don't want to see any spoilers.
and become the NEW book wankers.
and realise everyone else has stopped watching.
or are you doing some shymalyanaman satire
Surely that is even more reason to burn rubber.
I thought it just closed.
I don't really know what happened to be honest. We didn't see the screeching thing(s) did we. I might not have been watching properly.
think Tone may well be a book nerd!
Ballsy move to have a character literally explaining everything that's going on for half an hour midway through the season. I liked it. Bloody love a nonsensical time-bending plot.
Anyone still watching this?
Yeah it is alright and I feared the Lost style never find anything out type shit but nope, HERE IS EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING.
Matt Dillon is so shit it's brilliant. How is he the same guy from Midnight Cowboy or was I just a complete doofus as a teenager?
The teacher/hypnotist lady is brilliantly OTT as well.
Me and the missus reckon the son kid looks like a duck, you having any of that?
he's got some pretty weird lips.
Glad they've expositioned the fuck out of the big twist. I was waiting to be thuddingly disappointed by some sort of alien-related shenanigan bullshit so the plot they went with was pleasingly batshit. Most things about the series are kind of hilarious. Shannyn Sossamon's out-loud reading of her post was awesome. The weird cult kids banging tables while holding candles. The odd lack of cameras and proliferation of really shitty microphones that can't hear people speaking over a music box. The lead actors are all endearingly terrible and the supporting cast are having a totally appropriate amount of fun, Melissa Leo and Hope Davis especially.
I thought I was up to speed but I'm not recognising the lengthy exposition or the stuff below about the cult kids?
Mind you I was daydreaming a bit while watching it.
You're one ahead of me. I just watched 4.
balonz I watched moone boy it was quite good thanks
I accept your apology.
The premise is incredible and the flashbacks to the younger Pilcher are just glorious.
Watched two episodes last night. Can't wait for more.
Dillon has to be one of the worst actors currently working. It's brilliant.
about railway history
Not sure what I think about them explaining nearly everything in one go across three unconnected scenes all happening at the same time.
Do they go on to further explain why everyone in the town were so weird and antagonistic towards Pat Healy when he arrived? Why not just be nice to everyone if the goal is the survival of the human race?
I would not be surprised that FOX do not want to invest in a second season... but could invest only to bring some satisfaction to fans and to align this finale with the end of the book.
I dunno. It wasn't really that good, but I liked it more than I would care to admit. That said, as a series finale, it's waaaaaaaaay to wide open to be satisfying; even then, as a season 2 setup, it seems like the only place to really go in season 2 would be to rehash this season.
That ending was ridiculous. Why could he not lob the bombs down the shaft (missus) or had he just given up on his family.
So they killed the two main people and then with the last shot set it up for another series?
What is happening with it?
Also how did humanity lose out to the abbies? Just shoot the shit out of those nude buggers.
Pam and Kate and the gang emerged to sort everything out not realising that those freaky kids had survived in their shiny white bunker and are now running things. Reckon that's the premise for season 2.
This isn't feudal Japan. Stand up top see abs break through, luzz pipe bomb, live a joyful life with family. Besides everyone who was in the Easter bombings would have been long dead by now.
I think you have been paying too much attention. I had to look the Easter bombings up.
Really worth watching. Utterly ridiculous from start to finish. Laugh out loud stupid at times.
I'm guessing that Dillon wouldn't sign up for a second season. Surely that's the only reason for his ludicrous final decision.
Can't see there being a second outing but I'd give it another go. A lot of fun.
not even in an enjoyable way
this was classic shit in an enjoyable way. If you can't enjoy Matt Dillon crouch running... I just don't know.
like they compressed Lost into 10 episodes
the practicalities of Toby Jones' plan were bothering me the whole time
into season 2 now, and i didn't think it could get any more batshit but it has!
just watched s2 final
this show is bonkers!
way behind though and I want to quit but if I did, what type of a person would that make me?
The first episode of the second series was utter shite.
I had lost an awful lot of patience with it towards the end of the first series. I have respect for your patience
