Take your worst shot.
i'm feeling pretty good/fresh today, mainly because i had my most chilled weekend in fucking months, stayed in both nights.
it's fucking pishing down here though and i can't be fucked.
can't decide if i'm feeling it or not, i'll let you know after my coffee
water leaked through my "waterproof" rain cover, my "waterproof" bag, and a plastic bag for life, onto my work clothes. great.
i did however manage to cut the grass on friday morning (took four hours) and went to a wedding on saturday night (and got drunk!). so it was a good weekend actually.
or i'd have got fucking soaked this morn getting to the car. had to park fucking miles away due to the fucking new age church across the road having a sunday night service and all their flock taking all the fucking parking spaces, pricks!
Yeah, maybe i'm not feeling it today! :)
Were you on your hands and knees using a pair of scissors?
I have a fucking massive garden. approx 260m2 according to a Google Maps area calculator. That's around a full size tennis court, I think.
Oh, and I've been a lazy bastard and that's the first time it had been cut since..... October?
so you can see how long it was.
When I worked as a gardener I remember having to do a large back lawn similar in size to a tennis court and it didn't take me four hours. I was using a large petrol-powered mower, but on the other hand I had never mowed a lawn before.
So I'd basically come back to my original point, which is use a big fuck off tool ;)
I am exhausted, shaking like a shitting dog, coughing up brown phlegm and unable to turn my head more than a few degrees
Good weekend that
I need some new work shoes. Can anyone recommend me some? Need to be black and not twatty. (Mine have lost their water resistance).
Good weekend that revolved around food - huge Turkish meal for a friend's birthday on Friday; pub lunch on Saturday, home-made curry in the evening, and roast dinner on Sunday. A+
Hey other folks.
Watched Ex Machina with my offspring at the weekend.
Also enjoyed four pints of ale for a tenner in a north Norwich boozer.
May struggle to allow myself to pay more than £2.50 for another pint.
The brew was Wolf's "Edith Cavell" and it was a good pint.
Waterloo Road? that's like round the corner from my parents house, never been but looks decent, is it always £2.50?
Spent a lot of my youth in the Whalebone down the road, also the Brewery Tap is good aswell as The Plasterers off Magdalen Road and Kings Head on it. PUBS.
It's not actually a local for me, I'm a Golden Triangler, but my friend moved north of the city a while back so I'm discovering more of these faraway pubs.
Brewery Tap and Plasterers are nice. PUBS indeed.
never really had a solid pub then I was a teenager and didn't drink back then haha
Woke up with inflamed tonsils, flu-like symptoms and the kind of aches I'd imagine you'd normally get after running a marathon. Despite doing fuck all this weekend. No work for me today.
Had an alright weekend. This week includes my first ever spin session, and going to see the Hotelier AGAIN.
Should be alright.
Once again I am wearing far too much cleavage for work.
Watching a film atm. I'm like 30 minutes in and apparently it's nearly 3 hours long. So I *probably* won't watch all of it but I've got like two thirds of a bottle of wine left so we'll see.
How was you weekend, wherever you were? Can't remember where it was atm. We should meet up soon though. I will be in London most of the summer, I'll just be away for the first two weeks in June and then maybe like a weekend in July or something.
Pretty free now for weekends, which is good, innit.
We must have already discussed it but I will have been drunk at the time and I'm drunk now so you know.
YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW
and have been for maybe like three hours or something. but just haven't spent any of that time in bed actually sleeping. LOLOL STUDENT LIFE INNIT
Went to a gig with a lady. I think it was a date but I'm not too sure. I was demented by the time I got to the venue and everything is very hazy. I also made a fool of myself by messaging her afterwards asking if she wanted to meet up again but in the most cryptic way possible.
Now I'm very hungover and I want to crawl into a hole and die.
no no no no no
It's my Thursday. Having a 6 day weekend next weekend, with 2 maybe 3 gigs, depending on whether my gf let's us leave our cat alone for a little longer.
Had a pretty good weekend. I plumped for the second hottest burger at the Rockstone on Friday. dear lord it was good. 11oz medium rare beef patty topped with brisket, mexicana chedder, jalapenos and hot sauce. one of the best burgers I've ever had.
The Hotelier and Emperor X were both very, very wonderful. I really want to see them again on Thrusday.
Had a BBQ on Saturday; just the 2 of us. cooked 1 rack of ribs, 4 chicken legs, 4 thighs, 2 halved large breasts, 6 minted lamb kebabs and 6 sausages. so far we've had leftovers for Breakfast, Lunch and dinner, and have enough left for dinner tomorrow.
Happy Thur, sorry Monday.
sorry i forgot the rolled bacon strips on a skewer, peppers, onions and corn.
2) That BBQ sounds insane.
although she's had her reserved voice on since.
it's about the minimum requirement for food if we're going to bother starting the bbq.
I should really know because of my creepy internet stalking skills but again, I am drunk. It's a bit north though, isn't it?
we live in Reading, but went down to Southampton for the burger/gig on Friday.
Have you also attended 7bone in So'ton? also lovely.
it that the place that you went to after Brand New last year? the menu looks pretty top!
exactly that - It's really nice, seriously recommend. Although better to go when it's less busy and the quality is at it's highest. It's still good when it's busy, but they do seem to suffer a little bit.
Gf's PhD graduation on Saturday. Was a nice day out and a mercifully brief ceremony (half an hour!), so a good time was had by all.
Card game tournament yesterday. Was joint second before tiebreakers, came fourth in the end. That's acceptable.
This week I have an absolutely absurd amount of work to do. Really want the date for my second interview to be set so I have that to look forward to.
Worked til 3am making cushions for a freelance job.
Saturday was spent shopping and then drinks/wahaca
Sunday I played my first 9 hole pitch & putt. And I won! Yes!
Genuinely think I might be which is odd. Never been good at anything like that but it's a quite hard hobby to find time to practice (especially when you don't live near a golf course!) Hoping to go again this weekend with my dad but the old man has hurt his hip somehow.
Friday was relatively calm, went on a "date" I guess, went to a bar in Soho that puts Garlic in beer (it was terrible don't ever do this)
Saturday watched Norwich beat Ipswich to progress to Wembley, then got stressed out about tickets and as a result may end up sitting alone, went through to Brighton to play Great Escape which was a lot of fun but a really weird night/show, got talked into staying the night by some locals who later abandoned us so ended up getting the first train back to London at 5.30am after a slutty breakfast on the beach
Had work at 10.45am Sunday which I somehow managed on two hours sleep, went for a celebration roast with some Norwich pals, briefly went home to say hello to my Norwegians who'd just finished working at Southwark Park and were on their way to getting fucked up. Played Power Lunches last night which was a sick night, all the bands were great.
Really feeling it this morning but it's ok cuz I've got a bottle of Club Mate on my desk!
sounds like a solid weekend Severed.
How did the date go?
she came to my show last night too which was cool. It was preceded my ex messaging me to say she's considering leaving London partly because of people like me going out of her life, and that she hoped my date would help "make you not think about me" which was nice of her but then my date also bumped into a ghost from her past so I guess we were even ha.
i have very mixed feelings about this, even though deep down i know it's for the best.
glad to hear the date went well
surely it will make things a bit easier? I had told my ex she needs to stay away from me for a while because it was too difficult for me to see her, so this message for the first all week and I said to mine "I'm sorry that you are not having a good time but I'm sure you'll have a great one eventually whatever you end up doing" cuz, sadly (or maybe not), it's not my concern anymore
Are you a member of R.E.M. pre-'Murmur' 799?
one of the guitarists of Spoilers is from Athens, Georgia
Post Louis spent a bit of time using the church as a practice space last summer, hopefully again this year, it was very sweet
I'd love to practice in a church, it'd probably sound incredible.
it was nice at the end of our week residency there we put on a little informal show for our pals, was top!
Just not cool in the slightest, except we get to play BYOB shows there whenever we want so that's good.
badmanreturns walking up some stairs at Clapham Junction last night.
I wonder if it WAS him.
I was indeed going through Clapham at around 7.45pm, so very possibly?
Fortunately AFTER I'd dropped my son off at nursery. Unfortunately still in the pissing rain.
friend came over. Played a lot of WWE multiplayer and ate pizza. Don't want to be here.
Nice weather for it.
as we're going down to Devon this weekend.
Shame - I was quite looking forward to depriving myself of sleep and then getting hammered on dark ales and mead.
my show/talk thing went really well on Friday. i had to talk and despite getting completely thrown seconds before the start by having to present from a computer THAT DIDN'T HAVE POWERPOINT and being i felt a bit rambling, people afterwards told me it was ok.
i watched the Veronica Mars film last night. it's pretty good, huh? i was a bit cautious of the whole crowdfunding thing and if that might make it totally fanwanky, but it thankfully wasn't. i like how it maintained the spirit and style of the show whilst using the new format to be a little bit darker, both in content (swearing! murders!) and themes (lots of post-Occupy 1%er stuff going on, even in comparison to the original show).
also, there was like a two minute stretch that included references to Buffy and The OC <3
afterwards I found out my co-organiser had dropped £20 on wine off his own back, so we all bought him drinks afterwards.
Only just started the second season of Veronica Mars. I'd noticed there was a film of it, I didn't realise it was crowd funded and stuff. Sounds good. especially that 2 minute stretch :D
......i'm having a coffee
I like to imagine it's black and Nescafé, none of this poncy, London Flat White bullshit.
It was affectionately meant.
Feeling suitably undead today. Hoogyfest being the highlight obviously, utterly fantastic night.
Hope you all have a wonderful week!
Had a nice weekend- Friday went to a leaving do for one of my gf's old colleagues + had burgers.
Saturday- went on a riverside walk from Richmond to Kingston then did Kingston beer festival which was great.
Sunday- Made a leek and potato tart, went to the park, watched movies, played computer games (ve banged a load of weight on though :(
Don't think it's the hard drive that was the issue
had a good weekend, went to my mum's 60th birthday which I organised and it went well, until everyone left at 1am and I had a another huge rum and then was found by my mum and uncle asleep on the stairs at 4am in the morning. It's very odd, as I definately went to sleep about 2am so I think it was some kind of drunken sleepwalking which has never happened to me before. Feeling very embarassed but hopefully that will dissipate along with the Monday blues.
The last time this happened they pestered us for months before finding out the mistake was on their end.
My reply was a bit... curt.
Don't give a shit, pal. We've been through this rigmarole before, my rent's left my account and I don't appreciate being accused of not paying it AGAIN.
I want to eat my lunch now but I always feel like I'm being judged by the PR women next to the kitchen. UNDERSTAND THAT I STARTED WORK AT 5AM. THIS IS MY 2PM.
Watched lots of football this weekend. Also watched American Football. Got all emotional.
with a pint of regret
i'd be dead by now. just had a pint there, i was in by about 8. doesnt feel like it though
at my folks, dog-sitting for them while they live it up in Switzerland. Didn't even venture out other than to go to my friend's photography exhibition in the local arts cente, and to pick up a curry.
This morning, the 30 minute drive into Glasgow took 2 hours because I left the house just a little too late to beat the traffic, and boy, there was a lot of traffic, and flooding on the motorway. And this morning my roof of my house decided to flood so now I'm waiting for my idiot property managers to arrange for dyno-rod or whoever to come out and unblock the drain. I hope it's not a dead bird. when I put my fingers into the drain on the roof, they were met with feathers :/
So sleepy, been up since 6 and no coffee yet.
found out that my boss thought I was off today anyway. ugh.
I have got Friday and next Tuesday off though. Amsterdam!
i love amsterdam
from when I decided to dress in drag yesterday only to change my mind halfway through the make up bit. It was my friend's idea... honest. I look like a panda.
cause I took the week off and took that to mean I could watch Fire Walk With Me and play Final Fantasy X till about 3 in the morning. Forgot that there were people coming to work on the drive at about nine in the morning shaking the house with loud labour.
On the plus side, I made a mistake on a track I'm working on which seems to have worked for the better. Yay for happy accidents. Also, the new season of 'Always Sunny' is on Netflix and we have soup
new Sunny is good, ffx is good
i need to see Fire Walk With Me, I was convinced it would be worth a go thanks to Mark Kermode's gushing here
it's a strange one, and flawed in ways (sometimes it's fitting that the deleted scenes on the Blu Ray release was called 'The Missing Pieces', because it's a film that feels curiously incomplete sometimes), but shows Laura Palmer's story in a really interesting light, and brilliantly conveys a sense of anguish and hopelessness in a really special, abstract way. Sorta.
I'd strongly recommend it if you like the bits of Twin Peaks that most feel like being "in a nightmare and the most beautiful dream all at once" (paraphrasing)
As for FFX, I'm getting more and more into it slowly (so many tutorials) -- I dig Tidus' (aka Ploppy) ability to turn any scene into bizarre cringe comedy at the drop of a hat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B_4IjqDv7U
Also, my current aeons names, as of yet:
-- Valefor = Dr. Anus
-- Ifrit = Bum Face
the scene in 'Sunny' with Dee, Dennis and Frank trying to get "Psycho Pete's" prescription may be one of my favourite bits of that show.
"You didn't think of the smell, you *bitch*."
I can see why its so fun now - especially when your only opposition is fat idiots.
there's like a wine and sex holiday available to the Rioja region, looks pretty perfect tbf.
I mean you're right, it is, but this is like that on steroids.
Like a sex party in a wine cellar at one point. Great stuff.
I think so.
Felt like a right prick.
Had a court booked to play tennis last night, got there about 5 minutes early and watched the end of a doubles match between some kids on our court, which had a little crowd of parents and coaches watching. At 7pm, a couple of players arrived and went on to the courts and were trying to work out which one they'd booked when one of the parents stepped up and told them to stop loitering because the boys were 'playing a match'. Then my tennis buddy showed up, a bit late, and we went to go onto our court. 'But they're playing a match!', whinged one of the parents. There was another court free, so we said we'd use that and let them finish their important match. We were warming up on the new court when a couple turned up and kicked us off as they'd booked it. Fair enough. It was 10 past by this point, so we went back to our original court and told the boys 'Sorry, you'll have to finish now, we've got it booked'. Cue middle-class pushy parent chaos. 'It's 5-4, can't you let them finish?' 'Just 10 more minutes! They're playing a match!'. I pointed out that we'd already given them 10 free minutes and we'd paid for the court so it wasn't really fair for them to stay on. 'But they'll have to forfeit the match! Do you think that's fair?!'. Yes, I did. Then they spent 5 minutes packing up their expensive tennis equipment into their expensive tennis bags and loudly bitching about how rude and inconsiderate we were before fucking off.
tl;dr, obviously, just wanted to get it out there. They weren't even baby-boomers! Utter cunts.
Reminds me of the bunfight for equipment in the under-6s part of the Science Museum.
without then becoming as bad as them (tbf it's the second time pushy middle-class twats have tried to stay on court a bit longer. Cunts!)
Was in the secluded Foxham Gardens (behind Whittington Park) yesterday. Two dads showed up with kids. Those dads were both dressed in the Islington Middle-Class Theatre look of chinos, shirt, v-neck sweater, tweedy jacket. Both looked about 50 and as if they barely understood which way up their 3 year olds should stand.
My club is pretty regimented about court booking times and as a member you wouldn't DARE ask those coming on after you to hang on while you finish. Of course, if they offer, and if you know the people coming on after you and can get them to agree to start a bit later too, then that's another matter. But it's the sense of fucking entitlement that does my box in. (There is another club just up the road full of the types of people who would have the gall to be like those pushy parents and which I avoid).
need more club mate
Already talking about filling up my bag before I leave (which is happening but why incriminate myself publically). Untold horrors could happen if I continue but twenty mins left, pray for Ruffers.
