That happened fast.
Clearly too early for him, I think.
Wonder if the whole girlfriend malarkey was wot did it?
but I can't remember the last time I heard of a mainstream party leader who wasn't married.
See also - Gordon Brown.
...Gogsy was married in 2000 and labour leader in 2007
Point was he got married solely as a pre-requisite of assuming the Labour leadership, which he thought he'd get a lot fucking sooner than 2007.
He seems fairly genial as a person but it allowed Tony Blair to dangle leadership in front of him and get him to spout any old obvious bollocks as chancellor, then lead him up to be a fall guy.
Imagine if the party had said, "Sorry Gordo, you're toxic. We're taking Evil David Miliband," and then gone on to win the 2010 election?
So maybe. I hope not.
never hurts eh?
Osborne's Coke & prossie past & BoJo's affairs & paying someone to beat up a journalist
and the resources to get injunctions will prevent certain stories becoming as important as they should be.
"Team Chukka insist there was & is no unwelcome press story coming" - nick robinson
Lad can't even remember throwing his name into the ring.
read in voice of Duncan Bannatyne
A bucketload of homophobic abuse, and there are photos of them dressed up in blackface. What times we live in!
and their key demographic reckon he's an idiot, from what I've seen.
In some ways it might be good he's not running as I would imagine the right-wing press would take him to pieces.
You know better than to reply.
that the 'left-wing press' (which, in reality, is just the Daily Mirror), are ineffectual, or that they're less likely to go after a leader for his or her personal life, or that they do and they get torn to pieces, completely dominating the newsstands for months at a time?
when you've got someone like Cameron in charge. ;)
whilst being racist in the same thread. The Guido Fawkes comments section really is one of the worst on the internet.
was to die, they world would be a much better place.
That's not a threat btw, just a scientific observation.
In it's earliest incarnation it at least served a tad of purpose as a `lifting the lid on dodgy stuff going on in Westminster` kinda thing. Thing is Staines is now a Westminster insider just like any other hack, although he does seem to pick up scoops better than most (not that that alone is worth sparing him for).
Think I hate Harry Cole the most out of all of them to be honest. He's like Richard Hammond to Staines' Clarkson. Weasely little cunt.
when you point out that they're part of the establishment. It's enough to make you think that they genuinely believe that they aren't.
The lad's pretty ITK from my experience.
that must be why she deleted it
'umm-ing and ahh-ing' joke. some good, clean, non-racist/homophobic/wildly speculative, wholesome shabs
I tried that on twitter.
response was middling to poor.
He'd batter May on crime / justice etc.
Defended terrorists, David Shayler etc BUT ALSO part of the Ian Tomlinson whitewash and that daft twitter airport joke prosecution.
to have a leader with no record in government.
but seems like Polly Toynbee's gunning for him so sounds like he's a bad choice.
fuck that guy so much
a fucking article about a facebook page getting 200 likes in a night?
the policeman who killed tomlinson did actually face manslaughter charges a year later and was dismissed despite being found guilty. i don't think the CPS was too poorly implicated in it really
the twitter joke thing the claim is that starmer pursued it so aggressively just to get a judgement to set a precedent and stop similar prosecutions getting through in future. which is all well and good but there was a guy whose life was completely fucked with for a very long time for this
