Not for me.
when he lived in Billericay. the cheek
Market share fuckers!
Has anyone ever been to one more than once?
I went to one with marckee and hoogy and a couple others and then went to the same one a few months later with a non-DiSer.
might have been an Eritrean actually.
...to re-zone East Croydon station from zone 5 to zone 4. Would that make it proper London?
and both are in London boroughs
boroughs blah blah blah
Got various "experts" to answer. The best one was a couple of artists who just drew a circle joining up all the London Harvesters. Was pretty much the perfect definition of where the city ends.
then I would have lived in London nearly my entire life
I live in Caterham, which is just within the M25, but isn't in a London Borough. My local council is Tandridge.
The London borough of Croydon border ends at Kenley/Whyteleafe, Although a lot of Croydon post codes are Surrey ones, they aren't in Surrey geographically regards borders. That all changed in the 60's/70's.
Caterham is counted as zone 6 on the Oyster Card though.
...which trumps being a London borough any day of the week.
this could look like an endorsement of London
and they said where are you going
the Bentalls Centre in Kingston
I would be laughed out of town.
might go there at lunch actually
i am sat about 7 minutes walk away from it
Clearly not London.
got a London postcode and everything
VERY expensive Lilt.
None of it is London.
Until you hit the Chiswick flyover on the A316 you ain't really urban.
tube isnt enough
felt bad about leaving London with just London City Airport otherwise.
Kingston certainly does
*Was going to use your real first name and I'm sure I must know it... Sylvain?
it's fucking weird though, doesn't take long if you're on a bus from kingston to get into SW postcodes (the other campus I work at has one, weirdly, about 2 miles up the road), and then you're on far from putney.
as are My home ghetto haunts of Hampton Wick, Teddington and Strawberry Hill. London!
Zone 6 motherfuckers, we IN this bitch
If it gets red buses from TfL and it's in the zones, it counts. If it has insane London house prices, it counts. Plus Teddington is north of the river so its postal address is Middlesex, so it double counts.
Wimbledon and shit doesn't give me that London vibe either
Yes to Chigwell and Elm Park!
No to all of south London!
Can we rule it out?
South Wimbledon feels like London, Wimbledon doesn't really.
and also the overground?
who claimed he was a Londoner! What a prick.
Is Ealing London???
has a London postcode
London dialing code
ceremonial country of Greater London
within the London travel zones
all signs point to YES
But is Uxbridge? I'm saying yes.
Walthamstow? Barely, but probably is London.
I've lived within the M25 for many years.
Your opinion means nothing.
Where is marckee?
on the errors board?
Wrong side of the reservoirs
that they put in the wrong place.
but all the signs do point to yes
I think a lot of people consider it to be Essex still
Do people really still do that whole north vs south London 'banter'?
"I can't go there! Ain't got me passport!!!" etc
Expect more from you lot.
South London is shithouse though
I'd hate to have to go on it every day
and people used to banter about it then. People invariably not from London. Makes me cringe a bit now.
(according to Bolton Dave at uni)
A friend of mine would always bang on about it and swore that he'd never leave Kentish Town even if it meant renting forever, but then he knocked his wife up for the second time and had to move to Orpington.
my colleague said she got vertigo from being in Archway the other day. Decent bants
he's already become that wanker who has to leave everything early because he has 8 tubes and 3 buses to get home
south london: not even once.
also, he's an idiot or lying to you because there's millions of very straightforward options of getting back to streatham
came to my senses though. you almost convinced me the commute wouldn't be a nightmare but cLeArLy that aint the case.
lonzo double this a you got doubled post!!!!!!!!
i will take
lovely massive green areas
less cunts because there's no tube
over the horrible grey drearyness of anything north of the thames any day, and i will pay the price of the occasional rubbish commute
Can't be long until people are having to move to places like Croydon because they can't afford anywhere else. They'll have a BoxPark soon.
Royter-Hatfood, Antpocalypsenow, xylopwn, valenci, and umlaut_ampersand
^^^^ These people all this'd Balonz's claim that London travel zones, boroughs, etc. don't count.
Let's make this clear: YOU ARE COVERED BY TFL? YOU ARE PART OF LONDON, NOW FUCK OFF AND DEAL WITH IT.
so, so very theo
It's inside the M25!
But outside the north circ :(
Hertfordshire address :(
On the tube!
Takes an hour to get to central London :(
London area code!
0208 mind :(
No green space between it and London!
Plenty in the other direction :(
WE DON'T KNOW WHAT WE ARE
It's been 15 years or something.
There is no 0208 area code and there never was.
020 is the LONDON code. You are in London.
that might be the area code but 0207/8 still lingers from pre 020 days as a geographical definition
If someone is choosing to pay six pounds for toast in Aberdeenshire they are for that moment In London.
NOW FUCK OFF AND DEAL WITH IT." GB decrees are now part of London:
Amersham, Bushey, Brentwood, Broxbourme, Carpenders Park(??) and more...
northern limit: Arnos Grove
eastern limit: Ilford
southern limit: Forest Hill
Eastern limit: not sure, maybe Hammersmith.
Based on: absolutely nothing. Draw a kind of oval between those points and that's London in my humble opinion. Although this does just miss out Wembley and I think Wembley is in London.
(just went there and can confirm this)
What more evidence do you need?
and all of that within the M25 so my experience > your experience.
He knows his onions from his London buroughs
you might have thought were in London.
however many years
lived in the Fatherland until 4.5 years of age. Moved into the M25 ring thereafter leaving just 88 days ago (I do not include University or travelling or whatever as only babies do this).
the M25 has anyway
Is a dockland in Kent, technically.
Tube stations that straddle zones: which zone are they in?
Thanks in advance.
"Some stations are located on the boundary of two zones. For example, Vauxhall is in Zones 1 and 2; passengers travelling from a Zone 1 station only need to purchase a ticket covering Zone 1, while passengers travelling from an outer Zone (Zone 2 or beyond) only require a ticket covering Zone 2 and the other zones they are travelling through"
places that aren't London.
My leaving presents were pretty good.
Last day of working in Not London!
• special pot for making cold coffee
• coffee and chocolate
• a scaled-up version of the mug LEGO minifigs hold
• hand cream
• theatre vouchers
she confirmed it's not in London.
not much else though. couple tennis courts, Jag (maybe) garage
and only ever on the way back from other non London places like Esher or Kingston.
Hersham is a village in Surrey, within the Greater London Urban Area and the M25. Its housing is relatively low-rise and diverse and it has four technology/trading estates.
not sure if that even qualifies as England!
