What's the deal with these chumps?
The Independent is a British national morning newspaper published in London by Independent Print Limited, owned by Alexander Lebedev since 2010.
before the election and now writing all the major TORIES ARE EVIL scare stories I've seen linked to.
Obviously they know that that kind of article gets shared to death by internet-savvy left wing types.
they endorsed a fairytale version of the Coalition where the kinder side of Lib Dems were apparently responsible for most policy decisions.
because only a blethering fool would think you could hope to retain the same government as before.
they aren't Tories
but Clegg's spinelessness was not something they could directly endorse without looking like goons
and Milliband's non-dom manifesto pledge meant that their owner would have been in the shite personally
so they went for supporting the tooth fairy
was that they were neutral
it's just the non-dom thing innit
in a way though, editorialising in favour of another hung Parliament is /kind of/ not supporting anyone - in a really stupid way
if they wanted another Con/LD coalition they should have told their readers to vote Labour
look like they're being principled, ties in with the narrative of the green surge, doesn't actually make a difference, stops them being ridiculed
the Standard (that they also own) endorsed the Tories, but the Indie has always been more a Lib Dem paper (to the left socially, to the right economically) so I guess that was a nice compromise between not alienating the readers but keeping the owner on side.
Wonder what the server costs are.
You didn't have a migraine before reading it? Well, you do now!
Shame. The Independent used to be my newspaper of choice. Since its demise into drivel there's no paper I can really buy. Ho well.
keep seeing people sharing stuff from them as if it's a reputable source, when it's practically sub-Metro shite these days.
pretty certain I saw a huge colour photograph of a polar bear the last few times I glanced at their print front page. Never reported the surge in sales of fox's glacier mints so seems to be ineffectual
"It's not like we're the Independent, we can't just stick a headline saying 'CRUELTY' and then stick a picture of a dolphin or a whale underneath."
Where's that quote from?
+ Mark Steel's Thursday column. A weekly delight.
And... that's it.
(If you add i sales to the main paper sales. Which is obviously an unequal comparison.)
Its cheap and small. I like the top tens. It was the Top Ten Womens Walking Sandals today. V useful.
bad newspaper i agree
but apart from that not a lot going for it.
