Anyone else giving it serious thought?
The election has nothing to do with it though, I want to live in the Greater Toronto Area.
just joined the Labour party instead. If there's to be a blood letting and period of soul searching then I want to throw my 2 pence in. I think this is the election where I finally got sick of my own detached snarky take on politics.
but been wanting to do so (British Columbia or Ontario) for some time.
Equivalent jobs to mine in Canada are paid much less well though, and don't come up too often.
A lot of areas have pretty high costs of living coupled sith comparative low wages. What do you do for work warny?
...University Of Victoria, University Of BC or Toronto University then? Yup, not a cheap living option among them. All in lovely spots though.
want to go to kiwi land. as soon as they sort that fucking flag out, I'm there.
(again, nothing to do with the election obvs)
Vaguely considered it already but all the places to which I'd move are all so damn far away that I'd rather not bother.
We'd better still be in the EU by the time she finishes
south of france perhaps
Nice to know I've got the option though
Incredible lucky to have this as a feasible opportunity. Going to give it some serious thought across the summer and work out what we could do. Not sure if Europe or Canada/Eastern US. Fortunately with my line of work I could quite easily get a decent job.
The reason I'm upset and angry at the election result - the obvious negative effect it is going to have on the poor, the sick, the disabled, the young, is the same reason why I couldn't leave the country and it's people to its fate.
Leaving the country to head to an (imagined) utopia only makes the situation worse for those without the freedom to make the same choice.
Don't really want to play the 'parent' card but the future for my son in the country, to me at least, is utterly terrifying. So there is an element of selfishness as well.
I work in national health policy and so I perhaps do have the opportunity to help improve things in a small way. but when you see your research ignored, disregarded, altered, and an inevitable wash of ideology ploughing through the NHS there's only so much that you can take.
said they're going to move to Florida as a result. The People's Republic of Florida.
(i already live abroad)
Letting Nationalism loose in an economically troubled, socially inegalitarian country is like taking a lion on a leash for a stroll through a playground. Just spoke with another foreigner in my workplace who said that he too is scared and that lots of people where we work have left the country already due to the spiralling xenophobia and meanness. Liberalism is dead in England and without that there is no healthcare, no proper education, no fairness, no decency. Sorry guys, but the Torys are obviously bad, or at least ruthlessly selfish, and they've just been given a 'Go-ahead mate!' by the people. This country will be a bad, bad place to be. So, yes.
But there are actual far right people in power there so that won't help.
I'm moving abroad to be with my thinly-veiled, but I'd love to be at home in Scotland fighting for equality and change. I have enough faith in the country to know that they'll cope okay without me though, no matter what is thrown at them.
(I'm not knowledgeable enough to mega confidently talk about what's on the horizon; don't like talking about politics much, cause I always just feel like I'm regurgitating stuff without sufficient proper knowledge)
but I'm pretty disdainful about the entire country at this point. Buncha patriot wankers, fawning over royalty like it's the fucking middle ages. Pathetic stuff.
But would lose my job if we leave the eu and I'd have to move home lol.
