Got any mad japes, shabs and/or bants lined up?
I don't, obviously, because I'm a massive joy vacuum.
That's tomorrow's thread.
Apparently I have a challenging combination of tight eyelids and a (and I quote) "narrow aperture" which makes generating a gap wide enough to get them in quite tricky.
If that weren't DiSy enough for you, my main motivation is that I have to do paintball on a stag do and so don't want to have to pair up glasses with protective goggles.
Yeah, what I said in the thread I tried to start. No shabs or bants planned. Gorgeous morning though, isn't it?
half-tempted to quit on my way out the door
as I was handing out flyers after the We Have An Anchor screening/live score.
The film was so-so; the audience were dicks.
with tickets available from here? https://www.cafeoto.co.uk/events/be-prepared-aun-isnaj-dui-duke-zuke/
Yep, those ones.
but my facial recall is failing me.
I was the guy in the hoodie, with the glasses and beard...
and the fight to start.
Someone create a special 'marckee vs thewarn' fight thread
thewarn totally did him.
what was your bad audience experience?
mine was that i had tickets for B37 and B38, so sat in 37 and 38 of the second row
then just before it started someone came along and told us that we were actually in C37 and C38 cos there was no row A at the front? or at the front middle? or something
so the lights were going down and there weren't two seats in front of us empty, so we just shuffled into C35 and C36 and got on with our lives
then 10 minutes into the film, the ticket holders for C35 and C36 turned up and demanded we get out of their seats really rudely, going THIS IS HOW IT WORKS and SEE YOU LATER MAN, SEE YOU LATER. i pointed out that our actual ticketed seats weren't available and he was like THATS NOT MY PROBLEM TAKE IT UP WITH THEM
then my gf got up and left cos she couldnt be bothered to deal with this cunt
obviously i should have sat in the right seat in the first place, (i blame Dans, who beckoned me to sit in the wrong seats. fuck you Dans) but surely if you're late for a quiet, intense concert you just take whatever seats you can find? and you dont be a cunt?
but it did seem to be a case of ticking off the post-rock film cliche.
- Black and white shots of some telegraph poles? Tick.
- Shots of open water? Tick.
- Shots of waves crashing onto a beach? Tick.
- Shots of dead animals? Tick.
- An interview with a local agricultural worker? Tick.
My bad audience experience was just that there were too many people treating a sit-down live score in a concert venue like it was a gig at a pub:
- The people who turned up ten minutes late. I get that some people can't make the start on time, but to come crashing in with a drink (so obviously you've found time to go to the bar) making lots of noise and making other people move for you to let you in is a bit rude.
- The people who talked all the way through.
- The people who kept getting up to go to the loo or get another drink, and then coming back. It's a 90 minute film, ffs. Is it really that hard to sit down for an hour and a half without needing to pop out? Would you do the same at the cinema?
I'm struggling to think of a single minute of the film where someone wasn't trying to exit or find their seat in front of me.
wasn't my experience at the front, after the mean man was mean
also, just looked it up and there's literally not a Row A in the stalls
is this some kind of obscure theatre tradition?
depending on whether a stage extension is needed, so with concerts involving an orchestra or whatever, it is usually taken out
on Emirates they don't have a row i:
The Barbican doesn't, for example.
(it doesn't have an N or an O either)
Was going to go on Friday. Alcxxk also said it was a bit balls. Shame, as it's 22 euro here which is not cheap...
Did I blank you?? I'd just spilt half my beer getting my ticket out my wallet, so was a bit preoccupied.
The audience were unbelievable dicks though, yep.
Didn't even see anyone handing out fliers. You need to work on your presence mate.
There were two guys handing out flyers by the Silk Street exit - a guy with ones for ATP, and me.
Tough love, marckee.
I need consensus.
so I was always going to enjoy it.
Musically, there were two or three moments that were fantastic, but a lot that passed me by. I know nothing of GY!BE though.
titanic, which should be an excellent way to start the morning.
It's also moving day so i've managed to wangle the afternoon off. Moving in with my best mate, who also works with me so the fact we get to finish early makes it really exciting. Today is going to be very interesting. Waiting for the landlord to go "LOL APRIL FOOLS" while we're stood outside the door with all our belongings in tow.
Then up to the park in arctic conditions to walk the dog.
Not too busy today as we are definitely slowing down for easter. might go to a gig at Mono tonight.
I think he's still in America.
I'm also going to cut paper into the shape of a fish and stick it on someone's back
a hump day!*
*(not technically a hump day)
ON A FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have a sofa due for delivery today from DFS. they were supposed to tell me the three hour window in which they were going to deliver but they haven't, wondering if it's just a weak April Fools joke and they're going to call at 11:59 and say "LOL your sofa ain't due for another month m8". will give them a call when they open at 9.
means i'm working from home til it turns up though, so not all bad.
they forgot to actually put my sofa on the van and they've left now, so they can't deliver til tomorrow. fucking geniuses.
good idea, let's spend all of today trying to make japes mad
did i post in the wrong thread?
Today is my mother-licking Friday! Duck & Waffle tomorrow for her indoors' birthday. The views look better than the food.
i want to go home and beat my best speed run time on MGS2 which I did when I was like 16. 1 hour 58 minutes. I've not played it in a couple of years, I will thrash it tonight! (I won't).
either way I am impressed and want to play MGS2 right now
i used to play it like all the fucking time
It's my Friday.
Going to spend the whole of the Easter period in one long auto-erotic asphyxia haze.
Got my Mum on speed dial just in case anything goes wrong.
I was thnking about our changed climate this mornig,in the context of april fools. iN the 90s, my mum caught out me and mys istser a couple of times buy rushing in to wake us, saying that the garden was covered in snow!!!!
But for the last week it's been snow, sleet and hail showers in between glorious sunshine and nobody is finding this at all remarkable.
I blame plasticniki! (not really, obvs.)
I have a really busy day today but the ball is in my opponent's court to get it all kicked off, so I have to sit and wait- dreading the work coming in, but at the same time wishing it would hurry up so I can get my head down and get on with it. Coffee and a roll I think.
With scepticism and just ignore it. Hate pranks.
But not today. Never today.
Waiting for the piano tuner...exciting Wednesday ahoy
felt a bit sickly this morning so decided to stay in and work from home, hopefully my workplace don't think that's an April fools joke.
Presumably this is one plus one getting in on the bants
Just got a totally unexpected last min job for next week which is normally a really quiet week due to the holidays.
Minimal work, huge margin, my favourite kinda job! :)
when i was walking to work because i too concerned with getting around someone who'd cut in front me and was walking really slowly.
Going to do not much today and go for beers after work.
he laughed and then wiped it off. Probably thought 'idiot' but that's ok because I had my fun and that's all that matters.
he started using his computer and it was all sticky and now it's annoying because it's greasy
"Your eyelid keeps slipping down"
"I know. Any advice?"
"You need to hold it open"
"Oh, ok then..."
"You have small eyes which makes it hard"
"I know. Any advice?"
"You need to hold them open wider"
"Oh, ok then".
I'm proper comfortable touching my eyes, just cannot hold them open wider than a narrow slit
i have loads of work to do so i can't be on here, bye
out there, everywhere
I'm gonna crank it up and have myself a time
I hope it's an April fool though.
After two Skype interviews with the offices in New York I have a final interview in the London offices. Yay!
Three interviews though?! Argh. Happy days.
weird mood today but nearly long weekend yaaay
may go to Flashback Records to see Nelson Can (who Spoilers are palying with in Bedford on Sunday) tonight, but then the girl who recently ended it with me if their tour manager so...
On April 1st, fuck 8 years ago now. Still waiting for someone to jump out and scream April Fools!
1. Have a cold and was awake for like 2 hours in the middle of the night
2. Doing all my travel expenses since before Christmas
3. I thought I had another lame thing but I've forgotten
