I could not give one tenth of a shit.
What about you?
I bet Ant feels the same.
Still, he is one of our most famed fashion designers so it looks interesting enough.
It looks negative amounts of interesting. I think if I went in there, interesting things would get sucked out of my brain as I walked around.
If you like fashion then you'll like it. You clearly don't, so why comment on it?
(forgot about that, even though I catalogued the exhibition catalogue for it yesterday)
You've got three more days.
I'll give you that
Right up your street.
if you haven't been already.
Essentially a game of chicken with you and your partner. Who will cave first and say "shall we fuck this off and go to the pub?"?
Chapman Brothers, David Shrigley's last one, a few others.
But I had Tate membership for ages 'cos I thought "Well, I live in London, I should be going to see this stuff! It's on my doorstep!" and ended up seeing so much bollocks to justify the membership.
That's why I like the Photographer's Gallery. Near good pubs too.
My gf is at this McQueen thing. Not my cup of tea really but she's interested.
Absolutely spot on. Think I'm due another round of it with the missus soon of `We should go to more exhibitions` and then actually GOING to one and it being too busy, too boring and then going off to get pissed instead.
Last one we went to was an Edvard Munch one but they didn't have any of his greatest hits there - only formative stuff and `other works`. Bollocks to that.
gallery or museum, my whole body tenses up and I feel really really tired immediately. It never happens in smaller places, or quieter ones, just stuff like the Tate Modern where you're all moving around like zombies and there's just too many people.
Seems there's a new definition every week.
changed the face of fashion presentation
could post so many more
also responsible for this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqF8_UcUQdQ
it just doesn't interest us.
I've got LOADS of nice v-neck sweaters.
A LADY GETTING SPRAY PAINTED LIKE A CAR
don't see how any non-boring person could find it boring or at least technically outstanding
I find it technically outstanding................................................................................................. ....................
............................................................ ly SHIT.
that last link - not the entire video just the necklace dress
It's all a bit lost on me, but it's for my gf's work and I can go cheaply.
good luck with that
Didn't Alexander McQueen have collections called things like Jack the Ripper Stalking His Victims and Highland Rape though, GB? Seems a bit problematic.
yeah i'm not a fan personally but the staging is incredible
also, the fashion is inherently problematic, misogynistic and racist anyway so 💁
I prefer the V&A's fashion stuff when it's shown in a wider cultural context - their Modernism and Post-Modernism exhibitions were excellent for this. And their Bowie exhibition too come to think of it.
But I genuinely enjoyed this at the Serpentine near Hyde Park the other weekend:
Marketing materials here aren't the best, but the exhibition was dead fun. Think it was the bright colours.
You *think* you do. But you don't.
And the recent collections have been rubbish so I feel bad for him.
Of course there's a weird tone.
I've been on DiS too fucking long, too fucking long.
(ah I miss the days when you could tag artists on the music board)
I'm sorry I was mean about Frankie Boyle, who is apparently your mum or something? The hurt will pass. It will pass.
Making Xylo look like the bad guy
CG was a total dribbling cock-sore in that thread
bit worried in case I've been unpleasant in there
(no results, thank god)
if only I'd do that more often
than any of xylo's hole-digging.
I think it was from Alex-in-Ciderland or one of CG's aliases.
With the whole 'suicide is selfish' schtick + accusing anyone who was upset of being mawkish idiots putting on faux grief in order to play to the gallery
works as a witty footnote/summary or whatever but Wza's fucking nailed it there.
Thread should be preserved as a result.
(I'm largely #TeamXylo fwiw)
I look forward to going.
It's free and some of it is hilariously shit. Rubens wasn't all that either. DIdn't think much of that Conflict Time Photography either. Spent most of it sitting down tying my laces.
Worth it for the air to surface missile, sleeping David Beckham and exhaustive history of mad cow disease.
Looks good actually.
Was a bit pricey but you can spend hours in the mad cow and John Akomfrah bits alone. They're the last two bits as well so don't go in too close to closing time.
