I have no real plans for today OR the weekend, other than going to look at a room in a houseshare tomorrow. Of course, as always with these things, I don't really care about seeing the room as much as meeting the possible future housemates...
Finally pulling out the other side in terms of work. Still only got 276 emails though from the last 10-12 day (thats answering urgent ones as I go too). Few beers tonight with work, watching the mighty rams tomorrow against Birmingham as I know RAMMY and hes given me free tickets. Sunday, few drinks with my brother and picking up my stuff from ebay that I got sent to my grandmas house. Living life.
Gf has a friend coming round tonight but I'm not feeling the least bit social today. Will grin and bear it for the sake of domestic harmony.
Only concrete plan for the weekend is to get a haircut, maybe some new work clothes and do some interview prep. I'm signed up for a nerdy card game tournament in Norwich on Sunday but it's nearly two and a half hours door to door and i massively can't be arsed so I'll probably skip it.
i have been sat around at work for the past day or so waiting for IT access to be granted to a particular system, been trying it every half hour and it's not letting me in. told the IT people, they said it's done, just need it to be processed. repeat several times. this morning i sent a screenshot of the page saying i don't have access to make sure i wasn't entering the wrong details. turns out i needed to go to a completely different screen, which no-one has ever mentioned before, log in there and then it'll work fine. did that, logged in fine. why not tell me that in the first place? i'd be in London and not sodding Warrington if they'd told me this yesterday. argh.
I knew it was going to be a good day when I saw a seagull walk down the street and turn into someone's front garden as if it was just visiting it's pals.
i think the only thing i have liked about Warrington is the office ducks. only wildlife i've seen whilst working in London was an office that had a dog and a rat that made a nest in someone's drawer when they were on holiday and they came back to find loads of baby rats in there
Where I work is a pond thing and there's ducks, geese and swans always hanging out. Watching geese walk up steps in a line is one of life's little pleasures.
Plus the geese have baby geese and that are really cute and you see them putting them under their wings to keep warm and they chase people who get too close. They're great.
Excited. Work isn't bugging me too much. I did fart just as the gorgeous French trainer for our section sat down beside me though. Mildly embarrassing.
Friday night: Jamming with my friends OR staying in with some beer and watching 'The Thing'.
Saturday: Hanging out with my Dad. Going to a post-rock gig in the evening OR a Paradise Garage-themed DJ night.
Sunday: Read the papers, head along to an International Women's Day event where a load of my friends are DJ-ing playing.
Think I'll work from a pub for the afternoon. Got to see some clients until about 12 and then I have some intermittent conference calls to do and documents to write. Just going to set myself up in the corner of a quiet pub (The Drake or Chinaski's most likely) and do it from there.
Tomorrow, shopping with my sister and picking out suits for my brother's wedding + alcohol.
if i was cutting about that neck of the woods i'd seek out:
Stravaigin
Big Slope
Ha, or sleazys......although it's been a long time since i was in there during the day! :)
I think we know you *spooky life/ dis crossover*
I wouldn't recommend stravaigin or slope if you need to do calls. maybe the 78? it can be quiet during the day. or the quiet back area bit of moskito?
can you imagine what it was like when I used to live round the corner from him in Dennistoun, this bearded guy walking about blethering on about how amazing the polska sklep was and the irn bru soup in coia's and going into every charity shop on Duke Street saying "everything is amazing" all the while giving out YES badges to everycunt he could get in reaching distance/earshot of? CAN YOU? A WHOLE YEAR.
Today is cooked breakfast day at work but my trains are messed up so may have to miss it, tomorrow is ice cream restaurant and seeing that robot film, Sunday going to marwell zoo weather permitting
Went to a real pub last night. Like, it had real people in it and stuff. And you could get a burger and chips or a sandwich and they served it on a plate. Didn't think they still existed in London.
all I did was admire her ring. how was I to know it was the last SVD gift he bough her before he dropped dead?
Feeling awful about it, even though she hugged me and said it was a lovely thing to say. Awful.
I'm going to get pissed at lunchtime.
oh and I just won tickets to Scotland v Ireland at the rugby. No recollection of entering the competition, isn't that fun.
weekend- friend from london visiting tonight, hanging out on the sofa with my man, my coupon and jeff stelling waiting for Charlie to say @an' I'm jus sitting here thinkin', losing all of my money to Ladbrokes, drinking myself sore, then mum's birthday lunch on sunday, so cuddles with niece and dogs. And then it's Monday again, thanks for making me think of that, Tillance!
about the importance of succession planning for high net worths, and how it was crucial to have in place a will and power of attorney as well. We all went to the pub after, and half a glass of wine later I admire her ring. ARRRGHH. She was so lovely about it.
what was she like when you were cracking out the `if your spouse predeceases you` banter? (Which I assume is a must-have in any presentation about wills and LPAs etc.)
Yesterday I had one green smoothie, a G&T in a can on the train, two white wines, half a bottle of red wine, and for my food I had one chocolate praline love heart. That'll be it.
I missed a seminar last term cos I was rough and couldn't be arsed and it was still getting referred to weeks later as though being hungover was unusual.
Is Spotify killing binge drinking amongst the youth?
Why do work people insist on going to those shit 2-4-1 cocktail places all the time? Had an near breakdown in the middle of the dancefloor at the utter pointlessness of it all. Must be getting old.
Going to SoDo / Beer Dispensary tonight for pizza and beer, then tomorrow I've the double whammy of returning a faulty shower AND putting some shelves up. Then going for food at Manna for me and the wife's other anniversary, i.e. the non-wedding one which apparently I'm not allowed to call our fannyversary. Sexaversary?
I felt like a deep sea oil excavator trying to find a sliver of actual liquid hidden inside whatever jam jar filled with fruit and ice and inedible herbs I found myself holding. One of them had bloody jelly beans in it.
Stupidly excited - going to dance like a twat for all to see.
Visiting my step-sister tomorrow to see her one week old baby boy. Aww.
Hungover today. Drank a bottle of red and half a bottle of ginger wine last night while watching the first three episodes of Penny Dreadful. Does it get good at any point?
SLEPT SO BADLY.
This morning I had a 4 hour defibrillator training course. That was ok.
I then ate a vegan brownie bar thing and now I feel sick. Not so great.
Tonight - Drinking of some description
Tomorrow - Relaxing, something in the evening
Sunday - TOPGOLF, maybe a roast.
Though FM8 has crashed and that's where I do pretty much all of my synthesis and stuff, so I'm having to figure out a way of getting a simple sine wave sub bass line using Massive or Absynth, which is not going well.
Doesn't feel like a Friday
But I'll take your word for it.
Tonight: Private view & Beer
Tomorrow: First house party at ours for a couple of years, beers
Sunday: hangover, food. Maybe cheeky beer with a roast.
I might be wrong actually
fuck.
Happy Friday, internetters
I have no real plans for today OR the weekend, other than going to look at a room in a houseshare tomorrow. Of course, as always with these things, I don't really care about seeing the room as much as meeting the possible future housemates...
I get so guilty if I pull a sickie.
So I've not done it in years.
No plans tonight. Need to go get my bike marked tomorrow, then probs head to the football. Cinema in evening.
Hopefully more bike riding on Sunday :)
Morning friends
Finally pulling out the other side in terms of work. Still only got 276 emails though from the last 10-12 day (thats answering urgent ones as I go too). Few beers tonight with work, watching the mighty rams tomorrow against Birmingham as I know RAMMY and hes given me free tickets. Sunday, few drinks with my brother and picking up my stuff from ebay that I got sent to my grandmas house. Living life.
<3 Rammy
say HI to your bro from me and the big man :D
Will do!
pretty sure I forgot to deodorise my left armpit
Rubbish.
Only ever taken two sick days
One was to play gta5, which I ended up telling my boss about as I felt guilty.
I'm quite ill today.
Hello.
:D
How did that conversation go?
Morning
Things are good:
+ got my phone back
+ It's Friday
+ curry tonight (at a curry house, so no chips, fear not Chintzy)
morning all
i have been sat around at work for the past day or so waiting for IT access to be granted to a particular system, been trying it every half hour and it's not letting me in. told the IT people, they said it's done, just need it to be processed. repeat several times. this morning i sent a screenshot of the page saying i don't have access to make sure i wasn't entering the wrong details. turns out i needed to go to a completely different screen, which no-one has ever mentioned before, log in there and then it'll work fine. did that, logged in fine. why not tell me that in the first place? i'd be in London and not sodding Warrington if they'd told me this yesterday. argh.
Good morning DiS
Let's all enjoy this owl wearing a hat
https://twitter.com/sarahmaija/status/573729208410710016
As for my weekend
gonna see Stewart Lee, gonna drink beer and eat cheese, gonna watch a lot of the West Wing (I finally convinced the thinly veiled to give it a go).
omg
that is excellent, improved my mood 15%
same for when i just went outside and there were some ducks hanging around again. same three, just chilling outside the door quacking.
Awesome
I love ducks. Great bunch o' lads.
I knew it was going to be a good day when I saw a seagull walk down the street and turn into someone's front garden as if it was just visiting it's pals.
:D
i think the only thing i have liked about Warrington is the office ducks. only wildlife i've seen whilst working in London was an office that had a dog and a rat that made a nest in someone's drawer when they were on holiday and they came back to find loads of baby rats in there
not sure a dog counts as wildlife but you know what i mean
Yeah ducks are great.
Where I work is a pond thing and there's ducks, geese and swans always hanging out. Watching geese walk up steps in a line is one of life's little pleasures.
Plus the geese have baby geese and that are really cute and you see them putting them under their wings to keep warm and they chase people who get too close. They're great.
that does it
when i get back i'm going to request an office duck. maybe two actually, can keep each other company.
Some dick has made me sick
(the missus) and I'm moving today. She's done her back in, so I am basically lugging mattresses and shit up and down all day by myself. Joy.
I did it
I don't understand how people don't take sick days. Even when I didn't get sick pay I'd do it. Going back to sleep now though. Bye x
Agreed - nobody is grateful when someone drags their half-dead, flu-ridden body into work
and proceeds to splutter over everyone. Get well soon x
night Tilly x
Get well soon, Tills.
Life rolls on.
Morning DiS
Loads to do
CBFA
dunno what to watch tonight
Selma, Still Alice, Whiplash or just watch It Follows again. need to go for a really big run between work and the cinema aswell
Morning fellow procrastinators
I don't pull sickies, if I don't work I don't get paid (unless I take it was leave which I don't have much of).
So never called in sick if not actually ill. And fortunately don't get ill too often so sick days are rare.
FRIDAY.
Yuss, jamming is on as part of a gaff party. I'm not going to be well tomorrow.
Weather's looking tight this weekend.
Gonna hit the golf course! Any other DiS linksmen managed to fit 18 in yet in 2015?
Never played golf :(
Does your disability prevent you from doing so? :(
On my way to Glasgow for work
Think I'll work from a pub for the afternoon. Got to see some clients until about 12 and then I have some intermittent conference calls to do and documents to write. Just going to set myself up in the corner of a quiet pub (The Drake or Chinaski's most likely) and do it from there.
Tomorrow, shopping with my sister and picking out suits for my brother's wedding + alcohol.
the drake and chinaskis can both do one
Where would you recommend
It's just as they are right next to the client's offices really
och it's just a personal thing but i canny be fucked with either of them
if i was cutting about that neck of the woods i'd seek out:
Stravaigin
Big Slope
Ha, or sleazys......although it's been a long time since i was in there during the day! :)
Strav and Big Slope are two of my regular Glasgow spots
Thinking they might be pretty loud during the day though for conference calls... Although why not I guess. Sleazy's during the day is grim :'D
are they, we've probably bumped into one another at some point.
Ah conference calls, from a pub, i like your style sketches! :)
A few years ago before they smashed through into the hairdressers
I lived with three of the Strav staff and was never generally far away. So probably.
Shit
Just realised how long ago that was. Terrifying.
haha that was fucking years ago
haha come and join me and big jules and my man for friday boozin
I think we know you *spooky life/ dis crossover*
I wouldn't recommend stravaigin or slope if you need to do calls. maybe the 78? it can be quiet during the day. or the quiet back area bit of moskito?
I'll happily join for a beer
Wow weird, you think you know me, spooky
oh I have seen this too late!
We went to stereo btw, which would be perfect for your purposes- not too noisy!
the drake's pish
but chinaski's is great especially for what you've described
i don't think i've ever seen anyone working on anything during the day other than their dubstep album in sleazies
West End
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
please stop trying to encourage thewza to shop up
and regale us with all the amazing pubs and craft fairs that tollcross has
oh god good point
can you imagine what it was like when I used to live round the corner from him in Dennistoun, this bearded guy walking about blethering on about how amazing the polska sklep was and the irn bru soup in coia's and going into every charity shop on Duke Street saying "everything is amazing" all the while giving out YES badges to everycunt he could get in reaching distance/earshot of? CAN YOU? A WHOLE YEAR.
:)
RIP The Halt Bar <3
it's reopening as a WEST pub permanently from june i think
ohhh actually a friend told me that when I was up at New Years
that's something, I wonder if they'll keep it the same.
I'm genuinely struggling to think of where I'd go drinking in the West now
no wait
THE DOUBLET.
there we go
given the brewery's pretty bare-bones design wise
i can't see them doing a huge amount to the interior
the sparkle horse is a good shout, i've never taken to the doublet
never went to sparklehorse
that's in Partick right? (nearly wrote Peckham lol)
aye it used to be the dowanhill on dowanhill st
till the guy from bis bought it, it's very much of the same ilk as the halt/state etc, i think you'd like it
yeah I know the one
may have to pay a wee visit next time I'm up!
oh Rio Cafe is nice too
not necessarily somewhere I'd specifically go just for drinks though (unless they have a jazz night on)
Used to live on Havlock Street
And the Rio was a regular for hangover food. Once got a paperclip in my toasty though the bastards.
i was in sparklehorse last weekend
that's all i've got
I have accidentally ended up in Max's on Queen street
ooooft
Today is cooked breakfast day at work but my trains are messed up so may have to miss it, tomorrow is ice cream restaurant and seeing that robot film, Sunday going to marwell zoo weather permitting
yay it's friday
booo i've got a banging headache, and a cold and am all bunged up
coffee's good for a cold isn't it?
Going to the Lake District
Never been. Bit irked that London is seemingly going to get its first nice weather of the year tho.
love the lake district
whereabouts in the lake district you heading to?
my sister lives there
Bit hungover
Went to a real pub last night. Like, it had real people in it and stuff. And you could get a burger and chips or a sandwich and they served it on a plate. Didn't think they still existed in London.
What pub was this??
Sounds like I need to buy it and turn it into a Chop House
Lord Clyde in Borough
A pub in Borough that I've not knowingly been to.
Stone the crows.
Really doesn't feel like a Friday
heading to the theater tonight to see Liam Williams deconstruct capitalism or something.
Heading to Milton Keynes to see my folks over the rest of the weekend.
played a very good show at Shacklewell last night
playing at Big Hands in Manchester tomorrow: https://www.facebook.com/events/1574238829458930/
omg I LOVE BIG HANDS!!!!!!!
yeah it's a top bar
haven't seen a show there before but given how tiny it is/previous Manchester shows I've played, can imagine it's going to be very fun indeed
wtf does "£3 ot"
mean?
typo for on the door?
what am I the promoter?
Off to see Modeselektor and 808 State tonight.
Ravin'
Make my long-awaited return to hockey tomorrow having spent two months out.
Other than that - nothing. It's such a nice day - if it stays like this for the rest of the weekend I think we'll go for a walk or two.
I'd have been all over that MDSLKTR thing
if the venue hadn't tweeted about keeping "riff raff" by charging extortionate amounts for drinks.
I didn't see that.
:(
Forgot to add that I might also get up and pop down to the local station for 8.30am tomorrow morning to watch a steam train go by: http://www.steamdreams.co.uk/executables/GT410WebContent.exe?ActionCode=Timings
I lead a fun life.
it was a few months ago, but still...
Modeselektor are the best live thing ever, so you'll have fun at least.
fuck that emo shit down there
theres a new modesleketor mix here
http://www.mixmag.net/music/in-session/modeselektor

I'm not often jealous, but I am jealous.
BLAAAAAARGH
Hey Bammers
i made a widow cry last night about her dead husband
all I did was admire her ring. how was I to know it was the last SVD gift he bough her before he dropped dead?
Scotland vs Ireland (rugby) is going to be brutal
the football however...
haha also you should just been like "get over it mate he's no coming back"
I had been giving a presentaton
about the importance of succession planning for high net worths, and how it was crucial to have in place a will and power of attorney as well. We all went to the pub after, and half a glass of wine later I admire her ring. ARRRGHH. She was so lovely about it.
If she broke down over her ring
what was she like when you were cracking out the `if your spouse predeceases you` banter? (Which I assume is a must-have in any presentation about wills and LPAs etc.)
yeah, can't go to the rugby
as it clashes with So'ton v burnley or something, but we will give them away to somebody who will appreciate them :)
clashing with So'ton vs Burnley
is one of the weirdest excuses I've ever heard, PO
THAT WAS THE JOKE
tickets for the rugby, nice! that'll be good fun
What's an SVD gift?
St Valentine's Day
They were obvs one of Those Couples.
basically listening to Fenix TX in the book basement
earlier this morning walked my friend's Labrador through Greenwich park.

Took it back shortly after. I haven't heard it since but as I recall it sounded like a shit version of Sunny Day Real Estate's Diary.
that's pretty much exactly what it is
see also Blackened Sky by Biffy Clyro
you both need The Power of Failing
endserenading is the inferior record guys.
I've heard it

Wondering why my head hurts so much today
Yesterday I had one green smoothie, a G&T in a can on the train, two white wines, half a bottle of red wine, and for my food I had one chocolate praline love heart. That'll be it.
Flat to myself tonight! I've got beer! Vive le vendredi!
Temper that with the sullenness of watching Shoah pt. 2.
Day trip to Bury St. Edmunds tomorrow.
Roast dinner (beef, so proper) and a visit to friends to meet their new baby on Sunday.
Bike components out-of-stock at the shop. Boo
tonight
House to myself :-
Pulled Pork Pizza from Sainos
The Raid 2
oooh....if it wern't for the pulled pork
I'd pop round
....or the lack of an invite
It's weird the way I'm at uni but I never go out
and still just play Quake and sit in my bedroom all weekend.
are you in halls or something?
The students I'm at uni with hardly seem to go out either
I missed a seminar last term cos I was rough and couldn't be arsed and it was still getting referred to weeks later as though being hungover was unusual.
Is Spotify killing binge drinking amongst the youth?
Had a terrible night out last night
Why do work people insist on going to those shit 2-4-1 cocktail places all the time? Had an near breakdown in the middle of the dancefloor at the utter pointlessness of it all. Must be getting old.
Going to SoDo / Beer Dispensary tonight for pizza and beer, then tomorrow I've the double whammy of returning a faulty shower AND putting some shelves up. Then going for food at Manna for me and the wife's other anniversary, i.e. the non-wedding one which apparently I'm not allowed to call our fannyversary. Sexaversary?
Sunday I might paint the hallway.
I was actually compemplating going to Sodo tonight.
Love that place. Also bloody love the London Beer Dispensary. God, SE London is great.
Yep, it's great
though weirdly full of kids and dogs last time. At least they managed to largely cancel each other out.
Never been to Beer Dispensary, probably just going to order the cheapest, strongest IPA like I always do.
Was really hoping the Catford Tavern would add to SE's glory but some berk burnt it down :(
Yeah, our work crowd has recently become fond of going to Revs on a Friday`
's alright, but yes, utterly pointless.
Rev's!
I used to go there on a Thursday night in my hometown because they had an indie night then. Every night ended with Mr Brightside glorious times.
Cocktails are such a waste of time
I felt like a deep sea oil excavator trying to find a sliver of actual liquid hidden inside whatever jam jar filled with fruit and ice and inedible herbs I found myself holding. One of them had bloody jelly beans in it.
you're having the wrong cocktails
quite like a nice martini or old fashioned
PIcking seeds out of your teeth and saying "This isn't a drink, it's a fucking salad."
Underworld playing dubnobasswithmyheadman at Hammersmith tonight
Stupidly excited - going to dance like a twat for all to see.
Visiting my step-sister tomorrow to see her one week old baby boy. Aww.
Hungover today. Drank a bottle of red and half a bottle of ginger wine last night while watching the first three episodes of Penny Dreadful. Does it get good at any point?
HI

Hi
Tonight: Booze
Tomorrow: Watch football, booze.
Sunday: Watch football on the telly, run, practice guitar
#OiOi!
called in sick* yesterday cause i've still got a horrible virus
i reaaaallllyyyyy want to be able to eat today
*said i would come in if i really had to but would probably be in no fit state to do my job so would be willing to go without pay.
Still working on my EP
Though FM8 has crashed and that's where I do pretty much all of my synthesis and stuff, so I'm having to figure out a way of getting a simple sine wave sub bass line using Massive or Absynth, which is not going well.
my holiday is nearly over :(
better go out in the sunshine this afternoon and try and soak up some happiness.
