what the fuck was that?
taylor swifts on now, some sort of madonna 'vogue' meets clockwork orange meets diversity
except its not exciting and its to blank space
in the other direction, who are they all looking at? has someone more famous come into the joint?
what will he do next?
than just boringly standing there
what's your problem, creaky? how can you tell he's just standing there from still images? i think you're taking the brits too seriously.
have heard them on radio 1 now and again though
He could cheer the f-up!
clean bandit cracking jokes with a lumia phone
Lana Del Rey
was hoping it'd be someone else just to prove that they don't just give it to the only one who'll turn up now
she just thanked ed sheeran, ellie goulding, cara delevigne and sam smith :D
though she deserves the praise. Kinda feels weird having one of today's most thrilling live performers (she is there, right?) in there, while the line-up of people performing is inevitably gonna be yer pretty vanilla UK telly standards.
Spiritual high-five to Annie
janelle monae in 2014, cat power in 2013, feist in 2012, robyn in 2011,
on a human face, forever
have seen everyone but lily there already
global success award: sam smith
presented by his mate kim kardashian-west
ah no, it's the award they made up for one direction that they've won the last two years
kim's making everyone stand up
what's even the point if they're gonna mute 70% of it
Every year I normally do and ended really irritated by it even though I know it's a pile of shite.
So far tonight I have:
Put up two shelves
Washed my kitchen floor
Ironed 4 shirts
And am now cooking some dinner
IT HAD IT ALL
hahaha roberto cavalli's with kim
taylor swifts trying to dance
lionel ritchie :DDD
i'm so embarrassed by taylor swift
including Norman Tebbit presenting Wham with an award =D
"open up your windows"
like to see them run with that as the theme to their tour this year
i for one won't be attending, though.
Calvin Harris – "Summer"
Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne – "Rather Be"
Ed Sheeran – "Thinking Out Loud"
Ella Henderson – "Ghost"
George Ezra – "Budapest"
Route 94 featuring Jess Glynne – "My Love"
Sam Smith – "Stay with Me"
Sigma – "Nobody to Love"
Duke Dumont featuring Jax Jones – "I Got U"
who is Jess Glynne and why are they "feat" on so many songs?
but on one stomach is david cameron's head and the other is some poor people
wears a kilt and does a bit about scottish independence a year too late
in all fairness probably says something about how you should be allowed to be who you are and love who you want to love but whilst donning some sort of tasteless symbols of appropriation
I remember seeing the Superbowl and being impressed that they'd had a frame that *wasn't* product placement...
... until I found out that it had actually been paid for by World Peace Pork Products
performance full of british people she's collaborated with - william orbit and m.i.a. and she's rumoured to be working with SOPHIE and disclosure
cause I thought of that awful joke a bit too late years ago, and now I've finally found a place where it's slightly tangential
The War On Drugs
5 Seconds Of Summer
The Black Keys
First Aid Kit
john bishop just said 'no surprise'... is he psychic?
saying Bruno Mars was the most talented Hawaiian
of Obama, all of history's Hawaiians
awful sh*t altogether
there's only been the one reality tv star though
this paloma faith song.. :(
she just sings 1 line a billion times...
...with your grandparents
I can get you tickets if you want.
theyre just relentlessly pushing her trying to get a return on their investment
loved by old people and radio 2, sold millions, six times platinum
my grandparents are big fans and have seen her live three times
they've managed to make a pop star out of Paloma Faith.
when Sam Smith thanked everyone who *buys* his music, instead of who listens to it.
NOT ABOUT THE MONEY IS IT, NOT ABOUT THE MONEY IS IT, SAM.
*sigh* at this rate I'm starting to think that Jessie J is the only true hardline anarcho-communist freedom fighter in British pop music today
Calvin Harris – "Summer"
Ed Sheeran – "Thinking Out Loud"
Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars – "Uptown Funk"
Sam Smith – "Stay with Me"
wasn't gonna be anyone else was it? #twitter #directioners
Bruno Mars was robbed
(no one's made that joke yet, right?)
has a massive police force but, for historical reasons, only one (largely ceremonial) fireman
from Twin Peaks
involving one direction is going to see them win. It was never going to be about the video either, it was just them walking down a pier.
whats happened? why arn't any of them smiling?
Is it uncool or unmanly to smile?
a sign of weakness perhaps?
Russell Crowe waddles down a catwalk
to try and hide the fact he's borderline obese :')
Alt-J – This Is All Yours
George Ezra – Wanted on Voyage
Royal Blood – Royal Blood
Sam Smith – In the Lonely Hour
someone please explain, it's inexplicable
he did loads of gigs and online sessions that went viral and an ep with grime artists and then he became friends with courtney cox and jamie foxx and started putting out albums??
he has no personality
his music is bland
i also don't understand how he's friends with anyone, let alone actual famous people. just seems like the kind of person you tolerate tagging along but no one ever really talks to.
as revenge because of the time you nicked some of his shower gel cause you forgot to buy some, or the time you ate all the tortilla wraps on their own that he'd bought so that he could make proper meals with
(Ed Sheeran rapping bit)
Yo yo yo I wanted fajitas

Not his music, but just in interviews and stuff he usually seems pretty sound. Not sure why he reverts to decade old street slang when he's had a few. "Sick", "innit", etc.
Definitely saw some wengeresque coat issues first
turned it off now
had enough, need to stretch my legs
Everything else will be a footnote
you really have to hand it to her for getting up and carrying on with a flawless performance.
as that Clean Bandit phone ad
was just too boring
so she fell backwards off the stage. I initially thought it was staged, but on closer look would be too risky to do deliberately.
she's a pro
the fallen madonna with the big boobies reference yet?
only one non-white winner
and no female winners outside of the two specifically female categories
it was also the Swedish Grammys last night which it pretty much equivalent to the Brits
Artist of the year, song of the year, album of the year, newcomer of the year, best Pop, best dance & Lifetime achievement awards all went to female artists
though again, only one non-white winner
cos my observation was about credibility
but you can have a look for yourself
that they have to make jokes about the observer
music awards shouldnt be based on what the music sounds like but just on who is performing it?
who are consistently and aggressively disrespectful toward women, such as Kanye West? Should they win awards?
Does skin colour trump misogyny?
perhaps he thinks there may be more significant trends that might be best addressed, before addressing the issue of non-white people not being able to be successful in music
not sure why everyone wants to focus on me and what I want rather than discuss the empirical observation
approach to trolling. Top shabs.
YOU on the other hand are nimble and astute and observant, therefore I am questioning you, by your own higher standards, and wondering if this is a trend, or are you just prone to pbserving trends in a particular form (this happens to the best of us.....we cant rely on our past good form, it lulls us into a sense of false security)
What I mean is
I would be suprised if this was a significant bias...because this is in music and fashion...and music has been an area which has been (as I say) ahead of the curve...on the whole.
Perhaps what you are witnessing in the trend you have noticed is a trend in banality and middle of the road blandness, being typically gentile watered down diluted stuff being offered?
I dunno, cos like i say, i dont know the acts.
Despite aspects of racism in music, we all know that Eric Clapton essentially displayed elements of ism, because he knows he will never be regarded in the same light a Jimi Hendrix.
Who almost everyone acknowledges to be the ultimate Guitar hero.
Chuck Berry invented guitar heroism(showmanshio) though.
Michael Jackson ruled the music world for a time.
And now Beyonce is the reigning queen for several years.
It is fairly undisputed that Aretha was the best female recording artist (apart from me putting liz frazer above her) and before her Billie Holiday
Diana Ross also ruled as queen in a significant way
And now it seems kanye and jay zee seem to be the biggest stars
Eminem is just kind of like Dr Dre's prodigal son, so we also have big white act who owe a lot to a person of colour.
We laugh at wiggas and white men rapping to a degree, and white dreads, yet non of us laugh at Kele in bloc party, we don't see anything ridiculous in what he is doing.
So I guess I am challenging whether music is significantly bias, because, i believe that the 'big' music industry is so fervant about profits that all other considerations are rescinded (even predjudice).....although of course the 'big' music industry is perfectly happy to culturally misappropriate or negatively patronise, or up-bland, or dilute or trivialise culture etc
in maybe two sentences, or about thrity words?
award, it is hardly extremely significant
who the winners were, who was non white that won, who was non-white that should have won. (although I realise that this isnt necessarily about quality)
Im only asking because although I know there is still predjudice and bias in the world, I genuinely believe that one area that was ahead of the curve in breaking down boundaries of integrating and appreciating of non white culture in white culture circles, was music.
I used to dance myself dizzy in the 60s and 70s to motown and soul, and I wasnt the only one, ska, reggae, soul, blues, hip hop, rap, all are desirable in white circles and have been so ineffably cool that there is much appropriation, music HAS been a force for mixing, and any remnants and semblances of bias are due to other aspects of discrimination, more to do with boardroom populations.....I think.
I appreciate that its wise to always be on the lookout for new patterns, but I have to be a devils advocate to wonder if you sometimes see trends which may not be as significant as elsewhere.
There are many trends within music and any are not so good, I think that a lot of the more mobo music may have some stars that (as cg kind of indicates) may have some trends that are equally as worrying as you have pointed out. expression of some casual sexism has become more accepted within some music, for instance, and this is not good.
Although I may be talking out my arse as I did not follow the brits
are all just performed by Ed Sheeran now. We're officially post-racism.
with much modern culture, I think I've only seen this Ed Sheeran act once, is it a construct like Max Headroom?
although it was a ginger puppet, so I suppose that in itself is a deconstruction of an artificial trope of predjudice as a system when it was in fact only a casual loose predjudice
I have only witnessed this 'ed sheeran' act once, I have drawn a comparrison between the puppet and the ai rendering of max headroom, I suppose I could have done it with the nerm nerm nerm frog, or Gorillaz (but we all know that Gorillaz is really just Damon Albarn behind a screen)
I then make reference to the breaking down of the predjudice of the taboo of 'ginger'
I think that we have all witnessed and are aware of the artificialness of the 'ginger' predjudice, as Nicola Roberts is easily the best out of Girls Aloud.
I really don't see how I could be any more coherent
That was a thing he did in one video. He is, as far as science can detect, an actual real human being.
And when kanye said skepta
SKEPTA (SKEPTA SKEPTA) THANK YOU
to deal with this thread.
duffy sold 9 million + of her first album, he's not sold anywhere near that yet and look at her now (dropped)
Bland shit for the win!
Between this and Travis Scotland has a lot to answer for
She has a very weak voice live, doesn't she? And just looks at the floor when singing. #what'sthatallabout
Sam Smith has that 'industry success' thing written all over him.
americans are lapping his shit up like cheeseburger and cake
that hozier bloke too
The hat made me dislike him before id even heard him play a note.
Popping off to where?
Geogre Ezra guy?
The first i ever heard of him was last night and now i see he has 120 million hits on spotify. He makes his own words up too!
"Before Ezra's rise to fame, he created a word, "Petan," to help bond him and his fans. He has not specified what the word means, but encourages fans to use it during every day life"
its the worst ever
