as Security Committee chairman
I cannot stand Jack Straw
sleazy git plus his brother is a p doh on the sex offenders register which I believe Straw decided (in his capacity as home secretary) would not be public info about three weeks after his brother was convicted
(my memory may be sketchy on this but it's generally true)
plus y'know, Iraq dossiers and all that
along with the son of Blair, to carry on their daddies' good work.
and not the actual committee
yeah, that's just enough contrition. Well done. Carry on.
burning George Galloway twitter?
Galloway tweeted: "Has Hugo Rifkind of The Murdoch Times had anything to say? He's normally loquacious..."
To which Hugo replied: "Thanks for asking, George. I suppose I'd just say I salute my dad's courage, strength and indefatigability. Hope this helps."
Quality shabs and bants.
Can't imagine H. Rifkind being inclined to cast his wry journalistic eye over this story with his Dad involved...
1) Why is the "left-wing" Mirror cheerleading so fervently for a posh Tory journalist?
2) Why are two of Cameron's Better Together disciples squabbling with each other?
3) Why did Rifkind think comparing his dad to Saddam Hussein would annoy Galloway?
1) What's that got to do with anything?
2) What's that got to do with anything?
3) It's just a good line to trot out in public.
I mean, it's mildly amusing, but hardly Groucho Marx.
he's basically saying that his dad is as bad as Saddam
"We propose first to expand credit in order to create demand. That new and greater demand must, of course, be met by a new and greater supply of goods, or all the evils of inflation and price rise will result"
Arms dealing or something? He's a classic old school sleazy Tory. Still find him a million times more likeable and honest than Jack fucking Straw.
They're all much of a muchness...
Aitken: "If it falls to me to start a fight to cut out the cancer of bent and twisted journalism in our country with the simple sword of truth and the trusty shield of British fair play, so be it. I am ready for the fight. The fight against falsehood and those who peddle it. My fight begins today. Thank you and good afternoon."
*cut to courtroom*
Judge: "I hereby find you guilty of perjury and perverting the course of justice!"
but I'm sure he was implicated in some mini-scandal ages before this.
brings up far too much stuff:
Further googling reveals he's Mark Ronson's cousin wtf
on the other it's a good reminder of quite how incestuous and inbred the British establishment is.
and printing it out?
a FRIENDLY joke.
This is like the boy who cried wolf, only in this tale he's completely innocent and blameless.
but he's certainly one of those high profile 90s `Major Cabinet` Tories when Tory Sleaze was at its absolute pinnacle so you can certainly be forgiven for lumping him in.
Aitkin was 'special' arranged for druks and pros for his 'clients' (who came from a country where they could probably behead you for that)
Sold defence equipment (including torture equipment (electric batons) to a regime which is known to have used it on its own people in this way.
Of course what he got done for was his accepting stuff from foreign gentlemen and then lying bout it and most famously, prepping his young daughter to lie in court about it.
Many of the gentlemen that he did business with came from a culture where greasing palms is part of doing business, it is not suggested that he was behaving in a way that was unacceptable to his colleagues or his boss.
Of course all this is 'alledgedly', because he liked suing and Im not entirely convinced by his saying that he has reformed......because i think hes a liar....he was famous for trying to sue people, acting outraged that people had cast aspersions about him.
He liked the criminal mass murderer Nixon (who lied to the US administration to an enormous extent regarding criminal attacks on a country with which the US was at peace) and the like was reciprocated.
Aitkin has managed to avoid most of the accusations against him, he has been assisted in this by his position in power which has allowed him to be able to get co-operation from others in power to cover up embarrissing stuff about him (like his company supplying arms to Sadaam under his tenure but he got gagging orders on this.....perhaps some people think he was a spook for good.....but whatever, he thought that he was above the rules that apply to others (a LOT of rules))
Still now he is a christian, so Im sure that god and the bible will keep him in check and will make him gooder
that either of them has done anything wrong yet?
The case against Straw in Dispatches last night appeared to consist of
1) He shouldn't have had the meeting in the House of Commons
2) He should probably bone up on the rules of the House of Lords if he decided to take it on and got sent to the Lords.
Pretty thin pickings. Dispatches tried to snare about 20 MPs, most of them told them to do one, and they were left trying to make a telly programme based on the only two who'd even talk to them.
absolute weakest name for a scandal I've ever heard. So, so weak. Makes it a non-story before you've even read anything about it (which I haven't actually done yet)
to get the meetings done in an attic in the HoC.
is that Jack Straw is a really massive fan of sugar.
to tell the story of the (more than one) time I saw Jack Straw's penis?
You drew the short straw?
Are hay and straw the same thing?
Hay is dried long grass. Straw is the stalks of cereal crops.
