Not a good movie you stupid cunts.
Well made, well acted etc. etc. but it's too long, cynical and boring. Surprised more people didn't find it boring.
Thought it was a great popcorn sci-fi flick, didn't see what all you bedwetters are moaning about. Not everything has to be 2001, for fuck's sake.
in the way the story makes fuck all sense.
I can't remember the last time I saw a more straightforward film.
it's the gift that keeps giving.
I thought it was o.k. when I left the cinema, after a week was incandescent with rage. you'll get more angry with its shitness by the day
I don't mind stupid if you go out and say, "Hey, we're going to be stupid!" but when you try to make out your film is actually sort of deep and clever in an attempt to hide its big slab of stupid, it's just silly.
It's more the fact that no character seems to be able to maintain any consistency - "Oooh I'm scared of a corpse" followed by "hey, come over here you really cute horribly dangerous looking snake thing" - and nor does the nod to Alien.
"Right, we're going to completely recreate this bit from Alien."
"And then we're going make sure we have no connection to Alien at all here by using these weird cylinders and some black goo stuff."
"Right, and then we're going to try to create tension by having characters just run straight ahead when they'd be safe if they ran to the side like any normal person."
Basically the background is that they wrote it as straight prequel then someone decided that it shouldn't be so they chopped and changed stuff. Supposedly there was going to be a bit with Guy Pierce being young but, again, they chopped that so you have the nonsensical thing of him playing an old guy in makeup that just isn't quite convincing enough not to jar you out of the movie.
It's just a huge tonne of ideas flung at a wall with little coherence so that after a while you're just completely bored by it and the only amazing thing is that Ridley Scott appears to have turned into Paul WS Anderson.
I'm so sorry theo
I'm glad you liked it.
I just take issue with the use of popcorn. Jurassic Park is a popcorn Sci-Fi flick.
it's a terrible stupid film and I've already wasted hours on here talking about how much I hate it over multiple threads here
Shows how strong your brand is here. :D
Because that's what this cunting thread is about.
it's an absolutely adequate potboiler, nicely paced with smoe great performances
nicely paced with smoe (sic) great performances
It's just what it is.
I mean it's essentially a trashy potboiler but I think it's a great trashy potboiler (see also: Black Swan).
I haven't read the book but it has pretty much been responsible for my end of year bonus the last two years so I'm grateful to it for that.
Can't believe I said "movie".
Next I'll be referring to "seasons" of telly.
you feel surprised to discover it's not spring already.
Dunno, I tried to make it work but gave up. (Much like the Walking Dead writers, wayhey!)
and allegedly better again with 5
and then there was a good cast culling too so maybe it'll start getting interesting now.
but on the other hand I really liked Gone Girl. Confusing.
I mean that was when artists knew how to be really bad. Put some effort in.
did anyone else have Surprisingly Complex Feelings about Rosamund Pike, head to toe in NPH's blood? (#SSP)
Rosamund Pike has been in a lot of fucking dreadful movies, but isn't ever bad in them. She's like the new Gene Hackman, I guess.
just would've been an awesome move for RW, is all.
about Rosamund Pike covered in NPH's blood.
I was really shocked at that bit though
though it seemed like they didn't quite now how to end the story.
I don't remember all the details, but I also recall feeling that it was oddly misogynistic. I think it was the idea that a manipulative woman gets her way even as things don't go according to plan. I know it was written by a woman, but it oddly felt like a really male outlook.
she fakes two rapes and a number of beatings in it.
those women eh?
she used those events to further her own goals.
I don't agree with the sentiment, but that is definitely a common outlook among MRAs/Red Pillers, etc.
