i've got one like this
It is stolen from a house party when I was a student, it works incredibly well so I have kept it all these years since. Slips in and out, pops the cork every time. Not sure why some are quite so shit or why this is so good, it is a pretty simple design.
Auntie and Uncle have got this though which brings back sweet childhood memories:
Absolute overpowered unnecessary beast of a corkscrew, but weirdly satisfying.
Very smooth to operate, reduces the risk of crumbling corks significantly. Obviously.
faff:satisfaction ratio, undecided.
The screw was threaded the other way, making it pro-lefty. I used to love watching righties try to use it.
The dorsal fin has a serrated foil cutter that fucks up foil better than any other bottle opener I've used. Why do most corkscrews/waiters friends only have a crappy little butter knife blade? I want to get rid of the foil, not emboss it.
Had it so long, the lever arm got bent where it meets the bottle, so it had no grip left :( RIP fish corkscrew.
probably passed on from my parents or something
was the only one they had and cost about double what it is on that website, tempered my joy at finding such good wine for so cheap.
Dunno why anyone would use anything else. Has to have the extra hinge though.
but my favourite is the waiter's friend that's a bit like this:
So much better than your standard waiter's friend. No faffing about with the knife blade for cutting the cap.
