Hello everyone I AM BACK what have I missed??
I suspect today will be a big struggle.
Today'll be OK - I'm on a course about collaborative learning. The buffet tends to be good at these things, and I don't start until 10.00.
the only thing you missed was that zcvbnm proposed a "say nothing on DiS day" and loads of people actually went along with it and posted loads of blank replies to threads. a new low for this place, i'm sure you'll agree.
my god, freshly pressed apple juice left in the fridge over night to really chill is simply wonderful to wake to.
daughter has first tooth; ate first proper food yesterday - mashed carrots. was brilliant.
been moved onto a project that has been going tits up for some months already, and now i've been drafted in to finish it. hoooboy.
So I came straight to the office from an all nighter in the studio and was confronted with a last minute sale pitch call. Urgh, at least it wasn't in person, I smell really bad.
I hardly slept last night and am shattered, weekend was very good fun, drunken messy night in sleazys on fri night. I had tickets for viet cong, got to broadcast at 9.30, thinking they'd be on at 10pm, they'd already been playing for a half fucking hour, so we caught about 8 mins!
Off to amsterdam later for a couple of days with work. Looking forward to it.
I went to bed at about 8.30 last night and slept until about 5ish, hopefully I have beaten the jet lag.
Welcome Back! Hope it was fun.
The only good thing you missed was...
YOU GOTTA FIGHT!
FIGHT TO SURVIVE!
FIGHT TO SURVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!
FIGHT OR YOU'LL DIE!
Got the day off today. Yet to do anything with it.
had a pretty good weekend, went to brighton yesterday saw some friends, tried out a £4000 mandolin and didn't break it, watched viet cong. now I have 2 weeks off work, no idea why I booked it off and now kind of regret it as I feel really restless
I doubt you've missed anything important/useful. Did you get back into your house? Last I saw on twitter was you in 'spoons wondering WTF to do.
(while we were away, my parents stayed at our flat, but they'd DOUBLE LOCKED the Yale lock from the inside meaning we couldn't get into the front door. We have a back door, but they keys for that are with my sister who is in Bruges on holiday)
but yeah eventually our landlord's mother (lol) came around with a spare back door key.
Once inside, we discovered my parents had broken the toaster, as well as a nice beer festival glass and had also blocked the toilet. In summary; they are never ever staying at ours again.
You parents totally had sex in your kitchen!
(and glad you got back in, obvs)
I thought they place was oddly... clean.
i like the idea of your parents having parties while you're away and you coming back to find your gaff resembling this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJUXzWxkXKg
'This geezer's flat looks as if a bomb has hit it!'
I feel awful today. don't know what I've done to deserve this.
Must've been nice coming back to some bone dry tea towels ;) You missed loads of holiday and airport ^this threads while you were away.
emailing me links of these threads.
I didn't read any of them though, obvs.
Definitely buying him a bike for his birthday.
Had my first go on a turbo trainer yesterday, and back in the velodrome tomorrow. CYCLE-TASTIC!
but your legs look really little!
No angels involved.
still looks a bit like you've been skipping leg day.
Absolutely terrible inflight services.
AND I'll have you know: I have bought ONE bike in the last 8 years.
My mornings haven't been the same without your daily twitter screenshot of a train announcement board ;)
I was back this morning and my train WAS late but I have given up caring I think.
about the 91. I'm just consigned to defeat now.
That was a change to the usual scenario, right?
(Hah hah, bus wanker!)
As if independent retailers weren't already dead in the water...
i think they might have their own trucks or something. poor postie.
we need more of those communal amazon lockers where they deliver big stuff to when you're out
and deal with the postroom hating me
suited-and-booted, carrying an old Ocado bag with all his stuff in.
Has trees had to come into the That London office? Ocado seems a bit unlikely for him but maybe he keeps a couple he picked up from charity shops so he doesn't look as cheap when he comes into the capital.
he would have grabbed it from some charity shop after someone made a drop off, just in case he had to look a bit respectable.
Weekend was lovely. Had a hangover yesterday but was fed a delicious roast so it was all good in the end.
Though almost got into a random car on Saturday night thinking it was an Uber cab. The guy stopped and actually pretended to be the driver. The BF from across the road (in front of the actual Uber) yelled at me as I was moving to open the door to say it wasn't the right one. Pretty frightening if I had got in.
My 2 year old son shouted at the waitress:
'Hey Girl!.... What's your name?'.
what was her name?
^ could conceivably be the chorus of a Calvin Harris song.
Week off! Still working from home cos I'm massively behind. Played a warhammer tournament over the weekend, great bunch o'lads and got most sporting which meant a crisp £20 shop credit so bought the wood elf book.
has the rules and the stories!
Being back at work has fully killed the buzz, will have to buy some trainers to cheer myself up and get me through the week.
I'm v happy about that.
I'm reclaiming 2015 as 2014 was utter SHITE.
seems like you're warming up for a pretty spectacular 2015.
Doing similar stuff?
No more support stuff! More sorting out internal processes etc :)
had a pretty decent if busy weekend, watched The Nether at the Duke of York on Saturday, saw Watter and Lilacs and Champagne who were both brilliant, although I managed to miss Holy Sons due to not knowing my way around Dalston. Later on I also realized the guy who I was asking for directions inside the venue, was actually Britt Walford.
Sunday went to the Institute of Sexology, and watched Gone Girl and ate Chinese with the TV. Probably not that kind of film in hindsight but she'd read the book before so whatevs.
me and my dad jemmied a door and broke into the nightclub part of a bar we were drinking in. I wish I hadn't stayed up until 3.30am this morning though. I'm going home at lunchtime to sleep.
Your Dad is hilarious.
While pretending to be above making fat jokes.
I'd have a moan on the music board, but, y'know, music board.
Does anyone know?
I saw your photos, they were great. Hope you had a fantastic time, I'm super jealous.
I spent the weekend at my parents' which was great. I'm pretty down and incredibly homesick and I'm struggling to eat. Probably posting on here isn't helping missing the UK. Feel free to PM me some crappy stuff about the UK to make me feel better about being away though. Apart from that, yeah, stuff. Have a good Monday xxx
I'm sorry you're homesick. it's an awful feeling. It helps to talk about it. Also, try if you can to remember that so many decisions are reversible- you can always come home and go back abroad again at another point in your life. being happy is the most important thing (although I appreciate it's relative) Hey, COME BACK TO GLASGOW!!
Yeah I think it does help to talk about it, I've been really open with my parents. The general consensus is stick it out a bit longer (maybe it's partly the winter?) but that I know coming back is a possibility. As is just coming back for a year or so or whatever. Iiiiiiiiii just don't know. I think whatever happens, I'll know what to do with time, you never know what will happen tomorrow.
On a humous bagel and some fizzy water. Now about to buy some €3 coffee. Really really need to start bringing my own lunch in.... Need to write a speech this afternoon that might not ever be used. Tooth is still extremely sore. Want my mum :(
I think this is a sign that my workplace is very good :)
I'm just imagining you face down at your desk like this:
I could just get a little nap.
gonna check out that Mapping The City graffiti art exhibition at Somerset House, hop over to Islington to see a Twilight Sad instore show and then play 5-a-side in the evening.
colleague has a jacket that fucking reeks of damp. Feel proper sick and have a headache from it...cant really say anything though, really. Never speak to them...just...the worst smell
How the fuck could u wear it?!
and make a cup of coffee and hold it up to my face until home time
they could think he's coming on to them.
best make sure it's really hot so he also has to immediately go to hospital.
because my toothache is so bad. Been told to drink a bottle of red wine.
if you can get it is the best toothache painkiller, can't drink on it though
can be a wonderful evening though.
halfway through our meeting.
'I'm sorry, I think you've got the wrong meeting' my boss said.
'Ha ha!' said the lady, and sat down.
'I'm sorry, I think you've got the wrong meeting' said my boss.
'Oh!' said the lady, and stood up and left.
got through nearly two seasons of the West Wing, made some food from my new recipe book (huw fearnley whathisface's vegetarian one) and barely moved.
Felt grim this morning as a result. Going to see Viet Cong tonight. Once I've finished this damned budget.
