'It' being life.
Scented candles. I've got two now and wow
where the wax lights up and changes colour every few seconds. I have NO idea how it works, nor do I want to know, but it's my favourite thing ever and I'm thinking of buying them in bulk
i saw that one in the shops today i'm sure of it.
where did you get this magic candle? I want one.
or if you go to Tesco to the air fweshener section, I think Airwick do one.
AND ALSO DRUNKENLY TOOK THEM APART RECENTLY TO FIND OUT HOW THEY WORK. woops caps. I won't spoil the secret for you.
Candles in general.
It's not something I ever think of spending money on, but occasionally my partner will buy a bunch of flowers, or if we're out & about somewhere and there's some nice flowering plants around, she'll grab some to bring home. I'm always surprised by what a difference they make to the place.
I nearly bought some daffs yesterday, but I'm in the middle of a bit of a spring clean, so I thought they'd get a bit lost in the de-cluttering. Going to by some this weekend though!
TOO MANY DAFFS. They fucking stank.
Add a fancy flourish to your surfaces and dining settings with a well-placed doily or two.
stick some Steve Roach on as well
as long as its not part of a habit
(also if you are under 19/20 I'd advise you to wait as there do seem to be able to be severe contra indications if used during development years)
EXPAND THEIR MIND, man, should steer clear of it ;D )
foods such as bread, butter jam, become a gourmet treat (thus negating the need for expensive dining out)
and rather than have to pay to go to cinema or play, just watch a tree, or a cat or look at something interesting for a long time
Were you a superhero, your name would be Footnote.
that would be my superhero name
I recently bought one, all wine tastes better when it's been decanted, it's transformed my evenings.
we laughed, but now we use it.
i'll almost certainly be buying one
in frozen section of Heron Food shops
how about a hug from jeremy clarkson?
only his media persona.
I believe he's a father so will have given his children some nice fatherly hugs in his time
my brother has kids, but he is terrible at giving them hugs. like, it;s a hug but holding them at arms length.
or maybe he can't do it properly when other people are watching.
It lasts ages and is amazing for your hair and your skin and feels really luxurious. you can eat it too.
in the shops that offers better 'cost v satisfaction' value than a packet of crumpets. I bloody love'em.
Just the right size, no glaring overbun
60p for a good half hour of joy
Inexpensive "good" coffee. You know the type I mean. You have to pay a little bit more - but not too much - but few things make me happier than the scent of freshly prepared GOOD coffee
just bang a ton of it on any savoury meal
plus garlic powder, smoked paprika, marmite (srsly), stock powder. Add some condensed mushroom soup to stews and casseroles for tasty creaminess.
I recently discovered grinding my own spices. Bloody brilliant. I had faffed around with pestles and mortars - I don't care what Jamie Oliver says, they are shit. You end up with large crunchy chunks everywhere. I toasted off some whole cumin, ground it up in an electric coffee grinder and it was ten times better than any cumin I have ever used.
Buying dried beans and boiling them up is cheaper and nicer than canned beans. I then freeze them in bags.
this + chilli flakes + buying bags of spice and making homemade spice mix in your own jar
