Or is that pretty substantial? xylo?
but yeah I imagine that's fine considering how many sales will be kindle/iPad
Stupid e-reader nerds.
how do I go about procuring a copy of this ASAP. I've never felt the need or urge to preorder a book before.
It's not going be hard to get hold of.
The last Harry Potter was 12m in the US, and I don't think it's going to have the same mass frenzy first-day buying as that.
...should we ever have a boy. I am in the gradual process of managing her expectations.
With Cohen first
I don't judge. It's not Jorja, at least.
This is a beeve.
no-one in your family can spell
i am excited
Hopefully this spin-off cash-in will live up to it...
"An unpublished novel by Harper Lee is to finally see the light of day, 60 years after the US author put it aside to write To Kill a Mockingbird." So it's a sequel but it was written before the first book? Not that 'the prequel' is a new concept, just seems odd the way that's put, followed by the description of it.
...when it was written (1960) so maybe she was working on this one, with the same characters, in what was then the present.
It's about Scout as an adult so I guess it is a sequel. Unless she started writing it and then wrote Mockingbird with that character as a child?
I wonder how often authors have done this, started a book then realised the backstory for their book is better and written that instead.
In a statement Ms Lee said, “In the mid-1950s, I completed a novel called Go Set a Watchman. It features the character known as Scout as an adult woman and I thought it a pretty decent effort.
"My editor, who was taken by the flashbacks to Scout’s childhood, persuaded me to write a novel from the point of view of the young Scout. I was a first-time writer, so I did as I was told. I hadn’t realized it had survived, so was surprised and delighted when my dear friend and lawyer Tonja Carter discovered it.
"After much thought and hesitation I shared it with a handful of people I trust and was pleased to hear that they considered it worthy of publication. I am humbled and amazed that this will now be published after all these years.”
about ten thousand people on twitter have made that same joke
is the insinuation that the black 'rapist' character was murdered by the mob? you know instead of suppisedly running away?
and the book is mainly a series of car chases / gunshooting scenes.
To Kill a MockingGodzilla
so maybe they built him to do that?
they have to kill loads of mockingbirds but, they're not as powerful as the original mockingbird from the first one -- like they don't bleed acid anymore and this time the android is a goodie
There are suggestions that she's all but totally blind and deaf, and there's something weird going on with her lawyer: http://gawker.com/how-unauthorized-is-the-new-book-about-harper-lee-1605214844
her only objections to writing again as far as i can see are the increased attention & given her current health i would imagine it would be pretty hard to make her aware of the attention, unless the press start sending interview requests in braille
