are the worst pieces of shit ever to be shat. literally so angry
*Showers in indie points*
she loves it.
Also, over Christmas I did the slightly insane thing of consolidating all my music files into one place, instead of the three or four multiple places with various versions of band files and copies of same albums....tidied it all up into one place, deleted everything out of itunes and started again piling in my entire music library into itunes (that's 1.4TB of music, willy waving fans).
I thought it would break, but amazingly it hasn't and works like a dream. All my music, almost ever, in one place that I can put on random. Been rediscovering some amazing stuff.
doesn't mean itunes isn't shit though. it's still really awkward, and doesn't have a field for Record Label, for which I will forever hate it for.
I often consolidate my itunes to an external hard drive then copy it all back over to the laptop again just to keep everything neatly tagged and in one place. #i'maloser
it's the only way. I just haven't done it properly for two years, so things were in disarray, and I've only had recent stuff in my itunes.
Yeah, when you get promo downloads, pirated files and stuff off friends it's easy to get it in a mess. I'm a bit sentimental about my itunes library which is kinda why I haven't gone to Spotify yet.
the smart playlists recognise it so it's pretty helpful, and i'm not entirely sure what else it's for anyway
it has a 250gb harddrive but the library is almost 150gb. i thought about signing up for match, but apparently you still need the files locally to sync an iPod Classic. i looked up USBs, and whilst 128gb ones are decent priced, 256gb ones are not. boo!
with where I add my record label. That could be a fun project for me - to label up everything.
That's not the point though - the fact they refuse to recognise record labels in their database fields is so insulting. I am amazed it's not a bigger deal tbh. There must be a business reason for it, but I can't see it - the only reason could be that Apple are steering peopel away the idea of a Label rleasing stuff and it comign through iTunes....but that's not really conceivable for all sorts of reasons, so there still needs to be a Label.
That's only 50 quid and USB 3. I have one that works fine on my Mac.
the ipod in general is one of the greatest things ever, can't believe in my youth i used to traipse around with a cd walkman with the cd jumping every time i breathed a bit too heavily, the ipod is simply incredible, i have 5,000 + songs on something around the size of a cigarette packet and a lot thinner, you'll always get hipsters trying to make out it's shit and that we should go back to listening to cassettes, fuck that i'll keep my ipod thankyou very much.
yeah i still can't believe it's even a thing sometimes, i remember my mind being blown when i got an ipod nano in 2007. I miss my classic :(
...when they announced they were discontinuing them. Love them.
BUT... Apple have messed up with syncing issues, the need to have a modern laptop / device and the withdrawl of the iPod Classic - which is all to do with financial gain.
PERISH THE THOUGHT
I am an Apple 'fan' but surely they could manufacture the required parts, sounds like a cop out to me.
don't do any of their own manufacturing - it's all outsourced, and parts come from all over.
Plus, I can't imagine the market for large capacity players is huge these days, as much as it disappoints me.
I mean for a reasonable cost. 256GB SSDs aren't that much now so iPhones and iTouches with that sort of capacity can't be too far behind.
Its the fact that you have to sync it with itunes instead of just copyiing the music onto the drive
couple this witht he fact that itunes is the most unwieldy thing in the world for this and constantly 'forgets' the location of music in the music folder.
miles better than an ipod at half the price. just copy files, has an SD slot and most importantly sounds miles better and is subject to EU sound limiting. Clips RULE
that is pitiful in comparison to the ipod
not one of these imac berks
Totally understand that the PC version is horrendous tho
One day maybe they'll even provide a way to add my wife's iPad to the software so we can manage it. Probably won't, though.
i've had 2 ipods in around 9 years just the regular classic ones which have now been discontinued, i have had a few laptops in my time and never had any issues with itunes or syncing music up to my ipod, the only time i had any issues with my mp3 player was when i had a philips mp3 player before i had an ipod that synced up with windows media player and that was proper rubbish, you couldn't mess about with the order of songs on albums, it missed whole albums out and it took ages to transfer the files onto the mp3 player. Itunes is far better and much easier to use than what I was doing before, maybe there is better ways than Itunes but who cares really.
