Seems a bit on the low side to me.
I shan't be baited
Is there big bunse in dusty books?
We're not talking banker/lawyer level but the antiques trade isn't a bad niche to be in it turns out. Everyone's as eccentric as me, mind you.
Gender pay gap rising, pay increases smaller than rate of inflation, job security becoming an historical phenomenon, what a time to be alive.
i don't even earn close to that pre or post-tax :-(
I would probably be on the front of magazines for my achievements. Just can't see how anyone could be earning so much and not be a huge interesting success instead of being average.
I earn about that, after the increase in associated deductions and the commute to London I take home about £100 more than my admin job that paid 11k less 10 years ago. London. Definitely not a huge success.
Wasn't sure if I should spoil the fun tho
It was dominated by areas in south east England, and Hambleton, Yorkshire, was the only place in northern England to make the list at number 50.
97% of residents report being in good health. 'Hiya, you alright?' 'Yeah, good thanks'
Median in Sept was 480 - wonder if this is a huge jump or if the higher figure was the mean? I think the mean would be higher right? Non idiots feel free to enlighten me...
You'd expect it to be higher than the median because of the outliers earning hundreds of thousands or more each month pulling the overall figure up.
as czuk says- with mean, someone earning loads distort the figure, because there's no wage ceiling. on the other hand, you can't earn less than zero, so someone on a low wage can't distort the figure.
put it this way, if somewhere has a population of 1000 and 999 people earn twenty five thousand and one person earns fifty million, it is more accurate to say the average wage is the median of twenty five grand, not the mean, which is seventy five grand.
the tiny minority shouldn't be used to put a positive sheen on the whole country.
if you wanna go down this path
that's going to be a small percentage of people, possibly going to be very high or very low.
(I'm a bar manager and have been for 4+ years)
had to quit my job to do unpaid stuff for my new job. Won't get another wage until February and can't sign on. Pure shite.
