Pretty much every time I leave the house I am reminded of it.
there's a restaurant I pass on my way to work and they've capitalised the first letter of the first word but not the first letter of the second word and it makes me feel quite angry on a daily basis.
either go Like This or like this but not Like this ffs.
that's on sale for £0.5m and that makes me *quite* angry, cheers.
(and a very pamplemoose new year to you too)
so feeling pretty good about it
I'm sure Lo-pan took it in the spirit it was meant.
(I get a bonus, just not at Christmas)
it makes me irate on a pretty consistent basis. more so that people refuse to contemplate that it isnot the best/only way to run an economy and even mentioning Marx means you are a murderous dictator and not just someone that is prepared to look at more than one point of view.
I'm bemused as to why most people in Britain don't seem to have a problem with it (the brand we're experiencing anyway).
I am pretty irate at the moment, although that's probably because I'm in Starbucks.
It's only the miracle of consumer capitalism that means you're not lying in your own shit, dying at 43 with rotten teeth
Though it was saved by Mark saying fuck off afterwards
an internet message board while studying at uni, going out and getting drunk etc etc etc....
....because of the privilege afforded to you by capitalism?
that it is only possible due to capitalism?
remind me when socialism has worked? And don't say Sweden because I can claim liberal influence just as heavily on their hybrid system.
Surely it's entirely in character for Mark to say that?
Jes: Come on Mark, you know how I feel about capitalism!
Mark: Yes, confused!
cause its exactly what a person like Mark WOULD say in that situation.
I'm like RARRR! all the time.
about occupy protestors guzzling lattes in starbucks at St Paul's whilst tweeting from their imacs.
"Dan was once again arrested on charges of criminal damage, after throwing sausages to police dogs"
So thanks for that.
fucking love it
this guy's football team proves exactly how you can rise up in a capitalist society by chucking money at a problem
denoting our net transfer spend over the past 5 years? because the results would be pretty interesting, to say the least!
so save the follow up for next year please
That provides such delicious sandwiches
but then I look at my bank account every month and buy loads of shit and download games from steam and drink beer and bone hot girls wearing nice underwear and think "Fuck it. Could be worse"
Neither you nor the hot girls should be wearing underwear during the boning.
or just the post-80s post-City big bang thing?
Also anyone who's saying socialism's never worked is a bork.
Ate a large bag of salted peanuts today, turned out to be an IV drip. Wrote saying Hey you left me ill, they replied via their Gift Shop and that left me raw.
And it's just the sad way under boring skies they politically indoctrinate us that's the worst, the gentle everyday reminder that there can be no change.
I have fell to my knees in public and burst into tears in the past.
If it is at the expense of something that is really of worth then its a tragedy, and I feel guilty and failure that I have not been able to protect the goddess from it, that my words have not been of any help etc.
It destroys me essentially, If I don't deliberately busy myself with being distracted by other things then I go mad and rant and rave and end up shouting, it can get to a crisis point everytime if I dont hold myself in check, because there is, basically nothing that is doing us worse that is voluntarily being persued, and it seems to get to me more than most, it demands (n muy mind) that it is the most important issue and is worth dropping everything else, decorum, respect, livelyhood, sanity, if it were possible to ensure that its effects were lessened/mitigated against....................I actually abhor a lot of what consumerist society has created, luckily humans are still animals and I love animals, thus can see worth and understand that our weakness to capitalist consumerism is merely facets of our animal selves that the system has learnt to control/predict.......so I dont hate humans..........I can do without the system but I cant do without humans, and humans cannot do without the system
.....everywhere I looked (in the city) was to do with capitalist consumerism (in malls etc).....if you see it this way and really let it sink in to you and see it properly, then it would get to you too......I need trees man.......dont get me wrong some artificial places can be great......even if people pay to get in there.....its not for things....thus proper good music places.....people dancing meeting singing having a good time......seeing that is ok thats good......but in a mall, seeing just stuff dedicated to the aquisition of shit that isnt necessary makes me feel sick......and 'named' shit, and plastic shit, with food outlets, that are not really for good food, but things like those awful food courts, that are there 'just to cater to the consumer shoppers' Arggghhhh!
I try to avoid some tv and radio for example.
so much as as it's logical conclusion if left unfettered and unregulated. As mentioned up-thread, we've done alright out of it haven't we? This binary idea that it necessarily has to be either one or the other (capatilism or socialism) is probably a bit daft. If any one else wants to hear my vague and inconsequential musings on other subjects I'll be here for the next 15 mins or so.
and has thus ventured into anything that can make a buck in the short term, whether it be for unecessary (yet with illusionary need conjured by marketing that exploits humans animal needs for status and position and worth and acceptance amongst their peers) products and services winning over more longer term (yet vital) ones for human and environmental real needs, if the short term profitability is greater.
That is well fucked up
even if you are a material determinist
but people seem to be unable to see
(I think that you (phantom heart are talking about capitalism as in the sense as an alternative to socialism.....Im talking about elaborate multi layered (non bartering) commercialism, that heineously takes advantage of differentials in expectations of lifestyles and rewards and fortune of resources to generate false profit for needless and pointless stuff when our position is severely and terminally deteriating.
therefore i hope you all fall into a meat grinder for no reason yeah fuck off
not of absolutes, therefore you could say that a society with minimal capitalism was not capitalist, and one with a lot of it is a capitalist one, the word can be both a noun and an adjective......when refering to it as an adjective then it is a question of degree.
I can imagine a society without capitalism, although it is probably not along the lines you would predict I would be thinking of....perhaps cast your imaginary net wider?
(you could say a similar thing about 'superstition' as an adjective, except that it tends not to be used (as capitalism is) as a noun
I can't imagine another system offering me the same individuality, personal freedoms and opportunity for me to make my own mark on the world. Some of humanity's greatest achievements I believe would not have been possible with collectivism and the lesser motivation to compete.
i need a piss so I might just piss in your mouth, cunt
and neither is the motivation to compete.
Do you think that the motivation to compete is one that is imparted by 'capitalism' (I presume that you are referring to an idealised and personally internalised version that you have of it in your head.
Capitalism is not an exact definition of a distinct thing.
when referring to the noun, and yet still use the same noun word (a bit like christianity in that respect, a broad enough umbrella to allow racist homophobic string-em-uppers to rub shoulders with nice loving non judgementalists)
Which is why we get all the arguments that go nowhere..... :D
Its kind of funny really, if it weren't tragic
and that feeds into individuality, personal freedom (and freedom of expression) and competition which drives us to compete and do things that transcend our lowly position on this rock spinning through space. IT is a great driver of technology and art. Not having money in a capitalist society is horrible. but when you do (and there's always that chance) you have access to things humanity's greatest minds have to offer operating under a system that allows them to operate to the full
did you study sociology at uni?
can exert an influence over the conditions that can affect its self well being, sometimes under particular conditions this trait is accompanied by, or can even be superceded by other traits.
I wont bother with commenting on the rest of the post because as you know, that will take up a lot of words, and everything is a finite resource nowadays.....certainly peoples capacity to take in a lot of mumbo jumbo from me......but I'm sure you get the general gist..............
actually I will.......because that last statement is very amusing especially given the existance of degree level toilet cleaners......
as for the rest of the post, it is just you assembling words into juxtaposition, there is no, or little sense or meaning behind what sentences you have assembled.
Art is spectacularly NOT dependant upon capitalism (unless you have some grand statement instalation 'art',
"transcend our lowly position on this rock spinning through space" - my word, you make it all sound so bleak and without meaning.....if it were not for the existance of money/(or you could substitute god) .....you really sound like you dont like the idea of human animals......but you wouldnt be alone in that, I suspect many people feel the same, perhaps because you have been raised by your society to feel afraid, when you actually shouldnt be........artificial things are as scary to me as natural things seem to be to you (do not take this too literally) and it is the case with many people it seems. Humans can do quite well without a large consumer capitalist society......although yo will point out that they will be subject to possible/probable conflict with neighbouring group.....i.e. competition......competition, tech, art are not facets that are synomanous with capitalism.........I feel the need to be a bit 'against' you, as I read your post as being a bit negative towards the earth 'this rock' ....its rather dismissive, for the Earth, when to me it is wonderful and beautiful, far far far more beautiful than anything that capitalism has been responsible for......so basically fuck off.......
you could perhaps argue that music is human created......but the effect of commercialism on music is a whole other large subject which should have its own thread
this is a joke, right??
completely on point and lucid too.
oh, and the irony of this 'bolshy' character's username.
but yeah, any system is going to be exploited by selfish people, which is the most dismaying thing. I think there is a point, however, at which it is necessary to force a move away from a system that has become as dysfunctional as capitalism has now.
that I might go out and buy an ivory backscratcher to make me feel better
