If I was that lady's partner or in her family and they had no intention of aborting the baby, then I can see why they'd try to save the child's life despite the tragic circumstance. Although obviously the root law behind it should be modernised.
Her family want the life support machine turned off, and there is no mention of a partner. A mother died in 2012 because of the law on abortion in Ireland.
If some of the closer members are in two minds it gets blurred.
But yeah obviously terrible laws on abortion need changing to be much more flexible to avoid tragedy. I can see why you'd want to do this in some circumstances but for it to be the norm enforced by law is pretty terrible.
