We went for a mulled wine at the ice rink at George square last week with Big Jules. It was distinctly tepid, unlike the gluwein at the argyle street markets. which takes at least 5 layers of dermis off your tongue. YUM. I like the brandy laced stuff.
Mulled Cider is nice too. Jamie Oliver has a good recipe:

is different citrus fruits (celmentines, lemons etc) - use the peel, juice and slices for garnish.

Good Lady Brusma was drinking Mulled Cherry Beer. apparently it was good
To be honest I'll mull anything during the festive period. Think I had to be talked out of mulling 3 cans of Grolsch on Friday night after the cider and wine had run out. Good times.
Best thing about mulled wine is that so long as you plough it full of a) spices b) orange juice and c) brandy (possibly some amaretto) you can get away with a ridiculously cheap bottle of plonk. Pretty sure we used ASDA own shit (£2.50 a bottle or something) and it was still fine.

My friend had bought basically these little teabag-looking things for mulled wine, one of those bags for 1 bottle of wine and half a bottle of cider was supposed to be all you needed. Ended up just tasting like hot wine and nothing more, so not really that great.
which can be consumed with or without alcohol and which you put chopped almonds and raisins in. Prefer that tbf
