Pretty amazing story, really.
that is pretty amazing
going running tomorrow
i'll be careful
When I was about 13, I got lost in Hainault Forest during an orienteering competition (#SSP).
Stumbled upon a clearing in the forest and there were two men in full martials arts gear whacking seven shades of shit out of eachother with the long sticks that Donatello from the Turtles used. Scared the hell out of me. Backed away slowly without them noticing me and lived to run another day though.
despite putting his family through all that, he went back to the desert. Once I can understand - to complete it. But then he keeps going back and doing more ridiculous ones, is never home, and him and his wife have split up. There comes a point where these explorer type people become very selfish. IMO.
must be pretty selfish
lots of training
and he just wants to get away from them
reminds me of this article from the other day.
they pay shitloads, risk death, and basically get carried up by Sherpas. It has been done thousands of times, just stay at home with your families ffs.
A guy survives an epic journey for over a week in extreme conditions that most of us could barely survive a few hours, and y'all manage to narrow in on his selfishness, rather that his amazing acheivement of survival and the story therein.
its probably found it easier to train to run in the desert than to be a good husband and father.
he ran about for a bit. fuck him.
