I have this motherboard:
I wanna get this GPU:
Will it work?
Do I need a special PSU to power it?
you know, for a GPU. I'm not a weirdo.
From the Graphics card spec:
System Interface PCI Express 2.0 x16
From the motherboard Specifications.
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (blue)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x1
3 x PCI
So it sounds like a yes to me. But, you know, that's a LONG card. I'd also open your box and make sure you reckon there's space for it in the machine.
so you're probably okay. I guess you need the blue slot but possibly the black is worth using, so check the length in those two slots.
Your PSU is probably powerful enough. I'd guess power consumptions have been dropping over time a little, although this card is 'only' $199 so I'm presuming it's not exactly the cutting edge but, again, I'm only going off an assumption that the best cards still cost around the £300-£400 mark.
but it's a significant improvement on what i've got and has been designed with a program i use in mind
i've read things that say it's relatively low on PSU use so 'should' be ok but haven't found anything conclusive
guess i'll give it a whirl
