They're never going to better it.
About 80% of it is in the Where Are They Now category.

david bowie declined to re-record his introduction
C'mon, sheeldz, you know that.
Bono has changed his bit and by and enlarge renders the whole song ineffective. Not that it would be any good with it.
Thanks, Bono. The whole thing just seems detatched and a bit hollow.
Why can't we just pool these fools bank accounts and donate it all?
of announcing her participation before anything is confirmed as a way to blackmail people into it.
For those that'd rather donate directly they can do so here:

the original are unbeatable, shivers down the spine to this day. In fact, the original works right up until the singalong at the end.
As such, any cover version will be inferior. This one is particularly inferior.
my overriding reaction is a new found appreciation for Guy Garvey's warm & human vocal tones
I guess the contrast really puts them into perspective - never thought much of his singing before
Dizzee's rap was seen as 'controversial' because he added in new lyrics or something?
Donate to good causes by all means. Smacks of appealing to the rich running scared of ebola because they cannot die from starvation. Geldof was once innovative and he should not keep revisiting Band Aid. Like the very name suggests a band aid merely papers over a big problem. Also the selected artists have little merit or real talent and it's a careers rung for some. The innocence of the original is lost, why not do a new song or at least expose some underground talent if Geldof has to keep spinning this. If he really cared, at his age he'd have moved out of the music industry into politics.
I'd never really noticed the 'band aid' name pun, before. I guess also because I first heard it in 1985 when I was 10 and these things stick with you.
who will happily buy this tripe though. So fair enough really.
I haven't heard the single.
I'm sure that Coldplay used to donate a tenth of their earnings to charity. Fair play to them if they still do so.
Got a couple of laughs out of it, so not so bad really.
Ed Sheeran singing "banish it"
Everything Sam Smith sang.
it has a horrible tint to it
