Caught in the middle of a fight at the moment and super miserable.
You're all doing better, right? I believe in you.
My tights fell down on the way to the station today. I'm not having a great time with tights at the moment. I don't think I'm meant to wear dresses :(
Chin up h_y_g, all fights blow over.
I can't really picture you in a dress tbh.
Got to the end of the road, had to sit on a wall until the world stopped spinning.
Boss doesn't sound too impressed.
What do you need?
I can't spare anything else.
Then a load of roads got flooded and I ended up getting here on time like an absolute sucker. How is it only Wednesday by the way? This week feels like it started in 1953.
You Norfolk-hating bastard
Apologies to you and any other bogpeople who may have been offended.
(on behalf of thewarn, too)
The spark is that my dad has said something that has upset my gf. Just trying to defuse it without upsetting anyone. Failing.
my best friend from home's Dad told his fiancee that her Dad - her mainly-absentee-since-childhood, huge source of trauma, slowly-but-patchily-getting-back-into-her-life-despite-alcoholism Dad - could "just fuck off then, can't he?" in the context of whether or not he would attend their wedding.
This does since seem to have been smoothed over. Even if it seems bleak there may yet be hope.
promotion, pay rise, and more importantly chartership as an engineer if it is a success. a little nervous, i guess, but it's entirely based on my application so if i don't know it then i don't deserve it i guess haha.
actually, typing that out made me more nervous. oops.
Go get those additional letters after your name!
No matter how cool they seem.
You'll be chartered like a flight in no time.
Yr gonna ace it :)
suck my fat one.
Wish I could say it was starting to get tiring - sadly it isn't. Woke up at 4am and *bam* - brain kicks into gear. Feels like lunchtime now.
Big Wednesday Earworm: Ooh La La by Goldfrapp
Just about to eat a bag of chipsticks and start on my smoothie.
don't think my body's ever been this tired. 10 hour shifts stacking shelves. I'm broken and my hands are covered in plasters and bruises. don't think I'll ever look at a supermarket the same way.
after long periods of being on their feet and lifting things. It's my legs that really really hurt (which is good cause it means I want lifting with my back at all). Anyway yeah I think I preferred working in a call centre 🐍
I spent the first week or two convincing myself I'd done my back in, torn ligaments etc etc. After that I grew some vague amount of, like, muscle and it was fine. Hopefully you'll be reet in a bit.
I used to work in the stockroom of HMV, and we weren't allowed to sit down because we'd 'work slower'. Fucking spent after the first few shifts there.
you do get used to it after a week or two.
Guess its not ideal as a lady to end up having hands like a bricklayer..
in the warehouse some women wear cotton gloves which do help with cardboard etc as its handling this that dries your hands out.
Used to do mental 12 hour shifts now and then in a heavily understaffed split level pub so I'd be serving at the bar, clearing tables and running up and down the stairs constantly to grab meals from the kitchen to serve. It does wonders for your fitness though and for a short while I had legs like steel kebab meat.
Now I'm in an office and I'm a fat cunt.
I've done plenty of jobs where I have to stand up before (waiter, other retail jobs, bakery assistant. worked in a shoe shop which was tough going cause it was pretty much constant running up and down). But I've never felt this exhausted and sore after a shift. might be cause its nightshift and I'm so tired. just hoping its not cause of illness :(
but I've not been given any (or uniform or a locker or training). like do I have to join USDAW to get anything done around here??? (not joining them ahaha)
sort your shit out ccb.
juice (so fizzy pop to most of you), tea and coffee, health and beauty ( I keep getting sent there cause I'm one of 3 women. looks like an easy one but its so so fidgety and if cod liver oil has burst anywhere then it's gonna fucking stink), crisps, sweets, biscuits (really bad when it gets to that 7am lull and all you can think about is going home to some tea and a snack). Apparently I'm far too slow at getting boxes out. I find it really hard to keep up though ;(
that's the dream. Cereal's a piece of piss. Air fresheners are a nightmare. Health and beauty sounds hideous tbf - weird packaging and tiny units to line up is not good.
Soap powder and GP was my main one back in the day and it leaves this totally rack dust on your hands from the outers and leaked produce that it takes a day to get off. Bleurgh.
Don't worry about pace, it'll take a while to adjust to the physicality of it like the peeps above say, plus you'll come up with sweet ways to get stuff done quicker than just one at a time. 10hrs is a bloody long time for shelf stacking though. Make sure you reward yourself when the $ comes in.
sounds like they're giving the newb all the chumps work.
Get yourself on the crisp aisle and youre laughing
but i already bought this wee babe https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10482604_600803060046458_4395610655187711645_n.jpg?oh=6082b81305b42b305b39e9c13b51eb55&oe=54EB4400
came with some PG Tips teabags, was the first thing i stacked and i'd been looking for one for ages cause none of my local shops seemed to stock them. pretty obsessed with those things tbh. unfortunately a big chunk of my first wages are gonna have to go on dental treatment. literally just missed out on getting it free on the dole :(
BUUUUUT i did just find out i'm through to the final round for a job i really want which pays much more (now 1 in 6 compared to the 1 in 95 it was originally).
if anyone needs any more info about my life, you know where to get me.
met a friend from college who i've not seen in a few years. He's now the CEO of a tech start up he's founded, and has recently got through a successful funding round. He will one day rule the world I imagine.
Now I've got seventeen folders for Electrical Engineering to do.
Might ceremonially burn* all my knackered brushes and rollers. I am SO DONE with dulux trade satinwood.
*obvs will offset my carbon emissions from this
Have loads to do before heading to a meeting up north Tomorrow. Can't be bothered. :(
quite enjoying the new season of The Newsroom too even if it is just people speaking very fast and occasionally yelling at each other.
Off to the theatre (daaaaahhhhllinnnggg) tonight to watch a friends play. Apparently the script was only finalized on Monday, should be interesting.
But yes. Do.
Had some porridge.
what are you up to, you jammy git?
It's rather nice. Thanks for the recommendation, hivemind of DiS
can't decide if i'm having veg stew or soup for dinner
My beloved Brian.
“Never mind black holes,” quipped Cox to friends before sniffing a key of ketamine that witnesses described as chunky, “I’m studying k-holes.”
Arranged to move out of my current tiny flat and then my landlord said its a mistake and they only 'do' 12 month tenancies. Contract says 12 & 6 months on (mistake by letting agent) but landlord refuses to budge. Won't give reference without a £500 payment and payment of rent until the flat is occupied. Bunch of complete bastards. Fuuuuuuuuuuck.
also they could only pursue you for the outstanding rent if they knew where you were moving to as they'd need your current address to take legal action
but I'm concious of next of kin details being used to chase me, which has happened before. Don't really want it on any record either, as after discussion with an estate agent mate (not croatian FYI), he said sometimes checks are ran for this stuff and it'd be a BLACK MARK which would disqualify me from pretty much everywhere.
from 9:30pm to 7am, only waking once at 4 for a moment.
NOW I AM BROKEN BECAUSE I SLEPT TOO WELL. What the fuck. I feel so physically drained. THIS ISNT HOW IT WORKS.
Moved into my new bedroom and properly living the Stroud Green life tho - yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!
is such an amazing song.

and pointed out that i'd got one guy's name wrong, and had accidentally put a porn star's name instead. wouldn't be surprised if he knew who she was tbh, lucky escape.
