On here, typing rather than speaking: always correct
Close pal: nah
Everyone else: no
I purposely mispronounce words and see if people correct me.
Expresso, Jal-lep-peno peppers and if they say it's espresso or jalapeño i say "that's what i said" back
is another good one.
Actually got thrown out of the living room in leeds after getting into an argument with the barman about it
my German mother had the gall to correct me to which I responded "you do not correct my English, I correct YOURS!".
have put commas before both "to which" and the quote. Also:
- I assume you meant six OR seven?;
- the "y" at the start of the quote should be capitalised; and
- I think the full stop at the end is extraneous.
i'm casting my pearls before swine up here.
Once had to arrange a work Christmas party with a colleague who insisted on pronouncing the name of the “[Something] Brasserie” we were booking as “brassiere” instead.
She kept saying it in front of other people and I didn’t want to embarrass her by pointing it out, but then I kept forgetting to correct her afterwards. In the end someone else corrected her in a big team meeting and she got really embarrassed and I had to pretend I’d never noticed her saying it wrong. Maximum cringe.
If not then why not?
