I just printed out a calendar of November and December to work out exactly when I'm in work and when I'm not, and if I go on a training course in December as planned I have 25 days left. I also have 20 days holiday left, so in theory I could work next week and then not come in til January 5th. would never get signed off but still, should be able to get a lot of time off.
keep getting told I can take as much time as I want off when the project I'm on is finished. helpfully the finishing date gets pushed back a week every week :/
i really should be doing something useful, but i'm plotting a really heavy next week (girlfriend is away, most of my classes have been cancelled/shortened, i'm not working) to get ahead of myself on everything.
i might do a bit of work this morning, and go see a scary film this afternoon. are there any good ones out?
Tonight: Horse Meat Disco / Lindstrom / Todd Terje / Prins Thomas. Hopefully I can stay awake until 6am with the help of a lot of coffee and not be too drunk.
Tomorrow: depending on what time we wake up: Peckham Market mayyyybe, Dulwich Hamlet cup match probbbbably, Blackheath Fireworks certainly.
Shouldn't be expected to work much today right? Seems only fair. Literally dread going into work at the moment.
Vegging out with a curry and movies tonight. Halloween stuff tomorrow.
Didn't eat breakfast because Friday's the day bacon rolls get ordered, but a load of people have brought in Halloween stuff as well. Wondering if there's some way I can just eat all morning and sleep all afternoon.
Doing absolutely nothing this weekend but will probably have to do some work. Seems to be a serious chance I'll go to bed tonight and wake up on Monday, not really had a proper night's sleep for about 2 weeks now.
driving down to Bristol tonight. Any good record shops in Bristol that are not in the city centre? Would like to steer any daytime expeditions in that direction.
Day off on Monday, so this is my Friday if it were my Thursday.
Drinking some weird herbal tea now, will be taking on coffee and cake soon.
by the Arches on Gloucester Road. Mainly second hand and has loads. Further up there is one called Repsycho which is also a clothing shop, I haven't been there for ages though (the record shop part may actually be called Prime Cuts? It is downstairs). It depends what you class as the "centre" but Rise is on the Triangle which is right on the edge. Fopp is down the road on Park Street. The only record shop actually left in the centre is Head, or a place in St Nicks market which mainly does reggae.
I'm dog sitting my folks dog and a friends dog tonight.
Tomorrow it's a friends b'day so no doubt some kinda pub crawl, probably end up in sleazys or stereo.
Sun - hee haw.
Coming off my meds, yay (I think). Plus new car arrives today. Also, it's Friday and paydirt to boot! On the downside, 'Mac dacs'...jeez. I'm blatantly going to start using it too.
Gonna make too much tapas tonight after a super worthy week, might get pissed cause we can, then watch something terrifying. Heading to a combined 3rd & 30th b'day celebration tomorrow. No, I don't know how it works either.
Happy Friday DiS lovelies, it's going to be a good 'un.
Came in at 8.30 and the guy was like 'this is the easiest job you'll ever have in your life'. There's three of us here (2 next week) and do far we've done about 10 minutes of work between us (I've done none).
i guess i don't mind it but i wish id brought a book, don't have a pc to internet on.
I nearly fell asleep typing it. it was at the thistle, where the food was surpriisngly good (nice pink fillet steak, brilliant cheeseboard with lots of port, brandy and whisky)! usual story though, turn up at 7 and the awards don't even get motoring until ten by which point my short atttention span has well left the room. It was nice of them to give me an hour's notice that I was required on stage to speak, allegedly they emailed my assistant but she says no. Anyway it was fine.
But in a lovely chirpy mood as msmonipenni got my an areopress and its AMAZING
We went to Shoryu last night for dinner and they had a halloween special which was the most garlicky amazing ramen soup i've ever had. Oh my, can i have it again for breakfast please?!
so a 70 minute commute became a 15 minute drive in. Getting a falafel wrap for lunch and a halloumi and mushroom burger after work. Going down to Brighton to see a Weezer covers band. Well made up today, probably the best mood I've woken up in in about a month or so.
Hope the rest of the day isn't a shitter.
everything you are doing sounds like my personal idea of heaven apart from the commute
got a crazy cheap train down (£8 return with young persons) and i'll definitely have train beers. it's payday so i might get some wanky pale ale instead of tins.
Hopefully I should hear back about a job today. It's a job Id really like to get.
Then tomorrow I'm playing hockey somewhere in west London, and on Sunday we're putting on a gig. It's Harald Grosskopf, Pye Corner Audio and Glottalstop at Cafe Oto, and it will be great. There are only about 30 tickets left if anyone wants one: http://www.cafeoto.co.uk/harald-grosskopf-pye-corner-audio-glottalstop.shtm
was a resounding success. 2 marriage proposals: one from Marilena (v attractive young Greek lady), one from Nate (attractive young queen, camp as a Girl Guides' Jamboree)
how did you do it? My godmama makes a great tiramisu, but the one she brought over to my parents house a couple of weekends ago was beyond sublime. I asked her what she had done differently this time and she said 'well, i drank too much veccjhia last night so i just swung by makro on the way here and got theirs.'. I am never slaving over sponge fingers ever again, it's so good.
5 or 6 tbsp of brown caster sugar
A healthy glug (or 2) of amaretto

Repeat two or three more times.
Dust the top with cocoa powder.

two bleeding hours of sitting around trying not to fall asleep before a three minute chat and then a 'yeah you're approved, your stuff will be posted next week'.
still a bit miffed that I had to miss two of my friends birthdays to come down for an interview... The train had no wifi as well so I couldn't do any prep. Spoke to this lovely guy from Preston for most of the journey. Was a really nice interaction and got a little tap on the arm and all the best when we went our separate ways. Forgot to bring a smart top for my interview so had to spend £30 in monsoon to get the only thing that would be suitable and was in my size. I look like a pumpkin...
Interview went alright actually. I think if I don't get it it will defo be cause they don't think I'm the right fit for the role and its a bit too numbers oriented for me. Either way it's been a bit of a confidence boost to go there and leave feeling like I gave a good performance and seem like a plausible and hireable kinda candidate. Also chatted with other people who work there and they were all lovely.
+ got a distinction in my masters and they're gonna put my dissertation in the library
- I need two fillings and have worn my teeth down and now have to wear my gum guard every night till forever :(
+ I don't need to pay for my dental treatment, your tax dollars have it covered
+ being taken out for drinks then curry tonight
+ got another job interview on Monday
+ seeing one of my favourite pals on Sunday
going to jiujitsu tonight followed by some Halloween party antics in the evening and then headed back up to the home counties over the weekend to see my folks.
Going to see Lena Dunham and #1 DiSer Caitlin Moran later but going to spend money I don't have on new clothes first. I sort of want a new jacket but the weather is too good today
feel like I should've tried to exploit the season to get a full refund by saying that I was momentarily possessed by critically acclaimed otherworldly demonic force Azazel.
Kicking myself that I didn't.
The new Grouper album came through the post though, which is cheering me up as much as Liz Harris' unique brand of introspective melancholy can possibly be said cheer one up.
Hope no-one knocks so I can just eat them. Mmm delicious flowers.
In other news as of tomorrow I will be an official LMEer, so tonight will be spent packing not partying. Ah well.
Theres a Goth music night on BBC 4 tonight so theres always that.
lol just got an email saying I've won a prize for being the best student across my discipline at university. never heard of the award tbh. kinda think they just made it up for me cause they feel bad about my not get phd funding. £100 🍻
I think it might be a 'cant decide between two candidates' meeting. Either way they're happy to spend another £100 on gettin me to London so something must be promising :)
Today I will mostly be doing as little as possible
It's my birthday, and I'm at work... but only until 2pm :)

keep getting told I can take as much time as I want off when the project I'm on is finished. helpfully the finishing date gets pushed back a week every week :/
thinking about having a day to myself
i really should be doing something useful, but i'm plotting a really heavy next week (girlfriend is away, most of my classes have been cancelled/shortened, i'm not working) to get ahead of myself on everything.
i might do a bit of work this morning, and go see a scary film this afternoon. are there any good ones out?

Hi M_w_t.

We have to dress up in fancy dress at work today
I dont like halloween so i just threw my purple rain costume on. Think about 2 people know who prince is.
can you give us a rundown
on what everyone else is dressed as?
3 boys as cheerleaders, one guy has a witches hat on, one girl is a sexy cat and there's a ninja. Not much else, all a bit 'wotev'.
oh wait some spooky facepaint etc. sigh
With this and the toilet thing your work sounds like a dreadful place.
i love the work, i just sit here all day writing fun copy for clients and listening to music but yeah, i know what you mean
ok they've decided im austin powers because prince just draws a blank, even the boss.
you *had* to dress up?
what kind of awful place do you work?
its more of a day crèche for college kids than anything but its a decent job
Alright
I'm putting on a gig tomorrow and there's so much to sort out. It's sold out though which is pretty rad.
Also
I went to see Tony Law last night. He was really funny, but now I'm hungover.
hello, I'm hungover from work party
Shouldn't be expected to work much today right? Seems only fair. Literally dread going into work at the moment.
Vegging out with a curry and movies tonight. Halloween stuff tomorrow.
So much stuff to eat in the office

I've got no work to do
I'm worried that you read that as "I've got very little work to do". No. I have *no* work to do.
One boss not in, the other looked panicked when I asked for more work. Suppose I'll just be sitting with my thumb up my arse all day, then.
Weekend: studying. Probably play some board games. Dunno, really.
My god I'm bored.
today and this weekend
I will continue to live my life
hmmm
fuck Halloween

down in the dumps
My homemade tiramisu
was a resounding success. 2 marriage proposals: one from Marilena (v attractive young Greek lady), one from Nate (attractive young queen, camp as a Girl Guides' Jamboree)
I would eat even average tiramisu until I vomited
(marry me?)
This is far from average...
oh
how did you do it? My godmama makes a great tiramisu, but the one she brought over to my parents house a couple of weekends ago was beyond sublime. I asked her what she had done differently this time and she said 'well, i drank too much veccjhia last night so i just swung by makro on the way here and got theirs.'. I am never slaving over sponge fingers ever again, it's so good.
Pint of double cream, similar of mascarpone
5 or 6 tbsp of brown caster sugar
A healthy glug (or 2) of amaretto
Whip ^this lot together
Layer of Boudoir biscuits soaked in strong coffee (with another cheeky glug of amaretto in it), layer of the creamy mixture, layer of grated dark chocolate.
Repeat two or three more times.
Dust the top with cocoa powder.
In the fridge overnight.
Bingo-bango
Had to google boudoir biscuits
Where did you get that name from?
All available at your local Tesco
They're just glorified trifle sponges
soz, what I meant was
it seems boudoir biscuits are another name for lady fingers, I'd never heard that name before and it's listed as being the South African name for them on the wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladyfinger_(biscuit)
Was just wondering how it entered your vernacular :)
Unless I'm completely misunderstanding.
lady
fingers
"boudoir biscuits" sounds like a euphemism for diaphragms anyway
it usually has
the name kind of baked in to them
ah ok, not experience that.
I'll shut up now.

friends have come up from London to stay the weekend. Hurry up!
Another curry and beer friday no doubt.
i'm working/filming tonight - 8pm-8am....
However, I love working nights and seeing something grow *MATRON*.
I've bought two flasks and I'm not afraid to use them. I've also bought some goodies and will make thick cheese sandwiches for the crew.
