Alternatively you could use this thread to be supportive and kind to each other. Ultimately we get the social boards we deserve.

I bought this jacket at the weekend.

Looks alright on me. It's not me in the picture. http://www.hm.com/gb/product/13563?article=13563-B

  • Found out on Monday

that my new employer I start with next week are Business Casual dress. It's going to be quite a change from working in the city. Not sure I can go back to wearing chinos and a polo shirt to work. Might just carry on as I am

  • I need a new winter coat.

Probably won't settle for anything less than a red duffle, but can't find any which aren't either shit quality (Tesco, not even wool) or Gloverall (nearly £200, I'm not made of money).

    Hmmmmmmm.

    plasticniki | 14 Oct '14, 14:42 | X
    • get the Gloverall, serious

they make such nice coats, well worth the money

    • Got a burgandy gloverall duffle

It's really nice and will last you. Even high street brands will be around the £100 mark (probably not wool) so I'd go for it.

  • i've started wearing boot cut cords

although they're quite belled in their cut, so i do pretty much look like I'm wearing flares. AND WHAT?! i've got a brown pair and a black pair.

      • I love flared cords.

Just ruined my new pair climbing over a low fence at Alexandra Palace. Bastards just ripped in the groin.

Gf is attempting to fix them, gawd bless her. It's beyond my sewing skills. Have fixed other things before but this is front and centre and needs a little more talent.

cords ripping is the worst. once they start, it they're not properly mended and reinforced right away they're done for.

    http://www.whitestuff.com/womens/coats-jackets/blue-victoria-sponge-velvet-coat/

It's well cosy, and pleasingly like something I would have worn in the Nineties.

    http://www.tkmaxx.com/view-all-mens-new-in/blue-waterproof-quilted-coat/invt/24047127?VBMST=puffa

      • Loads and loads of it is shit

shit from last year that was shit and shops couldn't sell. Randomly though they get some good stuff in that is gold. I work near one so pop in once a week at least. Thinking about it, most of my clothes (all jumpers - it is good for jumpers) actually come from there. Christ, all pants, all socks, all jumpers, all jeans, a coat. Kin ell. I looked at the coats again when I went in last, all shite again and no puffa parkas left.

        steinbolt @Matt_was_taken | 14 Oct '14, 16:01 | X
        • pretty much this^

Generally it's more miss than hit, and you have to search quite hard to find anything decent. I trawl through my local one about once or twice a month, especially the gold label section, and sometimes there's loads of bargains and genuinely great stuff to be found.

Seem to survive on those thin £10 trainers that last a few months, but can probably stretch a bit further.

                  • Bought a waxy yellow jacket in Liverpool when I went to PSYCH fest.

                    Think it's this one:

                      • But yeah that it so good.

Though one problem with the yellow jacket I bought is that it gets really dirty. I fell over while extremely drunk on Saturday night and there's a few blood splatters on it now (fell on my hands and got GRAZES, the grazes of a true WetherCrawl) and other general dirt but what will I wear while it's drying?

                        • I'm such a dickhead,

that I took mine off when cycling through town on friday as it was raining and dirty water was splashing up the back of it :/

surely yours is a wipe-clean variety? Mine's teflon coated but not plastic-y so dirt attracts :(

                            • Not sure.

Will find out and confirm. Would guess at least a bit plastic-y.

                  • Currently on the lookout for an autumn jumper

                    criteria:
                    crew neck
No big heavy ones with daft nordic patterns on, got one of those already
100% wool of some kind (no shitty acrylic slyly mixed in there) BUT NOT MERINO, that's not warm enough.

Went round tkmaxx at the weekend and couldnt find anything. Don't think this sort of jumper exists.

really nice thick knits, 100% wool, loads of different colours and styles. Can be found for sub-£90 with discount codes in various places at the moment but this is their own site:

                  • There is an amazing crombie sale on just now

There's a coat I like down form £699 to £199, although the one I really love hasn't been reduced yet. i'll probably buy one a boring £100 one from M&S like I did 8 years ago instead though. I'm so bored, I really need to replace some of my work wardrobe. Couldn't really care less about the stuff i wear out of work (which is also falling apart but who cares, plus my cat leggings were too big and had to go back!!! And they've sold out of the size down, so that fucks that up nicely.) I'm really cross today.
