Wigan v St Helens at Old Trafford, should be a guddun.
never been to a RL match before, even though I've been with my Missus (a Wiganer) for over 10 years!
I'm worried I'll be a bit like this:
Rugby fans are only interested in how good a hit it was, you can always tell the good hits cos they make you go "ooof".
taken me 10 years just to understand some basic wiganese.
Really looking forward to it tbh tbf. Should be an amazing atmosphere.
when they have rugby finals at Wembley. I have to be honest, I haven't looked forward to a sporting event this much since World Indoor Bowls Championship final in January.
should be a cracker.
will be having a beer in chorlton beforehand
is the lack of decent (any?) pubs nearby.
are only a tram stop (well.. two) away!
I'll be watching from one of the many wonderful public houses in Bolton town centre. Kill me now.
which one? I won't be there, I just want to know.
If not, it's probably gonna have to be the Elephant and Castle *shudder*
I've parked at Media City and walked across. It's an easy place to get way from as well.
There's a pub called The Dockyard which we went to last time and is pretty decent. Doubt it'll have any 'pre match atmosphere' though but decent if you want a nice beer.
but was that not criminal assault?
fail to see the 'great sportsmanship' in the game in that moment at least
that was a pretty bloody good final. Really, terrible from Flower.
Have to say though, Wigan were the better side for vast swathes of that game. Had they had 13 men on the pitch for more than 2 minutes, they almost certainly would've won it.
Great fun to watch and I thought the atmosphere was brilliant.
Just a couple of observations.
- I thought on the whole wigan played the better stuff but saints defended pretty well, with subtle offsides and slowing the game to help make the extra man count.
- saints turned it on when they needed to and wigan visibly tired.
- there was a bit where wigan had a penalty but went for the 2-point kick (which they missed). Seemed silly to turn down the try attempt when they had relatively fresh legs. The kick wasn't a gimme
