Fucking hell. Best thing on British telly these past 2 years or something. What a load of shite.
i've only seen series one, which was ok. i heard series two was a big pile of shit though?
but was off my face and the only thing I can remember was that I didn't understand anything that was going on
(I liked it)
The flashback episode was total shit mind
uk version is much more than ok. it has big flaws, but the production values and soundtrack are really so much better than anything else ive seen from britain ever
which will probably have a knock on popularity effect on the UK series?
makes NO sense
maybe it makes sense for the uk version to get killed due to the american version. would be hard for the american version to get really big if the uk version was constantly spoilering it 2 years in advance. obviously game of thrones has the books and other stuff has foreign language versions, but neither are as accessible as a well made english language series
YEAH, REALLY WELL THOUGHT OUT AND MAKES A LOT OF SENSE. THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW, YEAH
I've just realised this could be interpreted as sarcastic. I assure you it wasn't meant that way, you actually made a very good point and having thought about it, I think you may be right. My apologies if my previous post was misinterpreted.
Have the second series to watch.
What's the general consensus?
If you liked the first season you'd probably like the second. It was obvs a bit far fetched in some places but it was ace.
in twenty years when a bunch of bedwetters stumble upon it and proclaim it be the best thing committed to any medium ever and that they're the first to see you can be there going NOPE.
bit like twin peaks.
after that tbc cliff hanger. Like the makers assumed there would be another series.
And that statement can gtfo; 'It's such an amazing show that we love but we're cancelling it to make other stuff that probably won't be'.
second series wasn't anywhere near as good as the first (IMO) but still had some great moments
a real shame that a show that at the very least was aiming for something fantastic has been cancelled
maybe it'll get picked up by someone else
Utopia Series 3: A Cadburys Paypal Instaflix Exclusive sponsored by Fyffes.
it does seem like a weird thing for channel 4 to do what with the Fincher remake and all that
Jessica Hyde pouting
It's like bands getting videos banned in the 90s. A guaranteed story.
a damn shame for sure, easily one of the best UK series I've seen for a long time.
and it was good enough to justify one. I look forward to Channel 4's exciting 2015 schedule with new dramas such as My Grandmother Is A Testicle.
(not that I watched it)
The best episodes of series 1 and 2 were when you didn't know what the hell was going on.
Series 2 wasn't bad, and had some wonderful scenes, but couldn't help feeling the quality declined a bit as the plot had to be pushed towards some kind of conclusion. The conclusion to season 2 set up a season 3 that would have had little mystery to feast upon.
Utopia made me think a little of Luther, Idris Elba's dark detective vehicle. At moments they both ventured into a kind of surreal dark cartoonish-ness, and were if anything all the better for doing that.
Idris Elba was SO good in The Wire (only seen first series) that he just sounded like a piss take English accent coming into Luther (which I started watching after I'd seen The Wire) - I always struggled to take it seriously as a result.
it was getting too close to the truth
