Leek and potato obvs
Cauliflower cheese is a recent favourite
Not especially autumnal though.
quite like spicy squash/parsnip soups.
spicy lentil/chickpea/bean based ones
cream of celery
courgette and peanut
parsnip and apple
I'm into that. That's going right on the list.
there's a few that use cashews but i think it works better with peanuts that have been chopped and roasted for a few minutes + and a dollop of peanut butter. grate the courgette and sweat with some garlic and a bit of lemon juice.
but now I've seen that dollop of peanut butter I'm interested again.
Carrot and Corriander
Leek and Potato
Broccoli and Stilton
tend to just lob in whatever I've got in the fridge at the end of a week.
Courgette, spinach and lemon was a favourite from last winter.
(yes a soup maker) out for the first time this autumn/winter on Saturday. Had an absolutely ginormous bit of butternut squash to use up so made that.
(I didn't buy this. Was a gift)
If I had a tiny kitchen it might be a different story, but last winter we used it LOADS and it's always produced great results. Dead easy to clean, the soup it makes is lovely (I haven't reviewed it).
But I don't approve.
I mean I like it and that but it's not a hearty autumn soup. Sorry Man.
Instead I'll tell you that I have wild mushroom today.
lentil and cauliflower
pea and ham
lots of stuff tastes better with the addition of marmite too.
I want to try celeriac, I have heard it is really smooth.
Gonna see what's on offer in Sainsburys though. Tomato is just so boring though.
the tomato soups you get with loads of middle eastern spices, aubergine, things like that, are great
pea and ham (or pea and mint!)
soup with loads of butternut squash in is generally ace
is celeriac and orange. it's bloody lovely
Squirt of Encona chili sauce to spice it up, bit of toast/garlic bread, stunning.
Otherwise, quite like carrot and coriander despite it looking pretty questionable. Soup.
and this sweet potato and carrot levi roots number: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/italcarrotandsweetpo_91711
it was in the top 3 things I have ever made.
haven't made a batch for time though, cause last time the blender exploded and covered me and the kitchen in almost boiling soup. One day the wounds to my pride will heal and I'll fix up some more.
If I'm just buying it, carrot and coriander for the win.
with no intention to eat it
Heinz Cream of Tomato
- carrot and coriander
- leek and potato
- brocoli and stilton
you're out of your mind. maybe not such a taker on the leek and potato but a proper stilton oriented soup should be anything but bland...
