follow me yeah yeah http://thecafedisaffecto.tumblr.com
will post actual new material on here every day lol
Having to read those uber-long vertical columns is horrible
so that they're squares too but apparently not? will change theme later
i'm going to start a blog where i write a bunch of posts criticising modern scientific institution's hand in the upkeep of neoliberal capitalism. you will not BELIEVE some of the shit that i read which gets ignored. kinda like a physics version of that Unlearning Economics? probably also link a ton of songs, book chat, porn etc on it as well
gonna wait until i'm at a PhD though so people don't see me calling me cunts when they google my name though, lol
(and how fitting that the need to mange your online brand in line with things like 'reputational risk' is itself so symptomatic of the neoliberalisation of higher education)
yeah it's totally shit innit.
you seen this thing:
tl;dr - the university of illinois sacked some guy for posting anti-israel tweets
think it's a lot worse in america, where things like that seem to be more regular (see also: that gender studies professor from a couple of years ago that got banned from teaching about sex work because some students thought it was 'offensive'). but of course american universities have a much longer tradition of neoliberalism than this country and i'm sure it's only a matter of time
(typo in the original post btw - should say "me calling them" instead of "me calling me")
Dystopian magical realism shiz.
Will do more if I get more ideas. Probably about supermarkets. I'm awful at using tumble mind.
I don't agree with all of her stuff but she has some solid arguments.
But I recently started a travel blog. Gonna post about places in the UK when I get back and more general stuff about the Balkans (got some photo blog posts planned about graffiti and ruined buildings and stuff like that) and some football ground reviews or suchlike but at the moment it's just travel diary posts. Few cities behind at the moment. http://steadmanasshegoes.wordpress.com
I'd like to write more but I have trouble engaging with anything beyond comics/Tapped Out/my new housing module.
My radio shows are still here http://mmitb.tumblr.com, although I've not added any for well over a year and I've quit doing them now anyway
i selected that but it isnt working :(
Micturition sites with Royter Hatfood
I have one but I mostly ignore it. Look at this though http://dead-pheasant.blogspot.com
I've got one. In fact I'm updating it right now:
It's mostly photography, art, wandering around, museums, charity shops and playlists.
I've got a tumblr too, same username (because it's my name, and I'm unimaginative, and I have to use my middle name because there's always some Scottish person got in there first), but it's just my instagram photos, links to my blog posts and the odd thing I reblog, mostly art or politics.
I ended up in charge of updating this recently too.
The website was looking a bit sad and neglected, and I wasn't feeling like a very useful co-op member/volunteer lately because I know very little about commercial property, contracts or bar licencing.
(i keep scrapbooks too. gonna copy your gif)
I've got one that has stuff from 2003 to 2010 in it. It's a beast.
Yeah, they're great. Last time I saw them though, the drummer had been surprise deported back to Argentina and they had to rope in an english friend to drum at the last minute.
No wonder you bump in DiS types!
Yeah, and before that I was one of the people who ran the Brighton Zinefest, so you do get to know a lot of people from running this stuff.
Also probably explains why I'm often less than impressed with some of the attitudes on here. Everyone's busy patting each other on the back that they're better than the hypothetical oikish Nuts reader, but from my perspective they're failing to meet the basic standards of consideration and behaviour that I'm used to being expected.
i have a standard one (mainly images and reblogs), i have a few more themed ones that i don't use and then i have a self care/progress one.
not really comfortable with posting links publicly, though.
i draw maps. they'll be going up on there in the next few months.
I also had one for short fiction but I deleted it and vowed to rewrite everything in a fit of pique. Again.
i don't update it anymore - not for ages
just drawings and stuff
First post since February.
who had been to every wetherspoons in scotland and could tell you all about them. imagine doing that and not even writing a blog about it.
To be fair, it is a bit of a chore.
Finish that comic.
I like the Double Dot posters- small world, I went to Reading Uni, and I'm friends with Yen!
is anyone on Medium (set-up by Twitter) which I've found loadsa good stuff to read on https://medium.com/@seaninsound - got a few posts queued up to run in next few days.
the only blog worth reading. (no offence to everyone else and their boring blogs.)
I do miss him
He did shove some pheasant scent under my nose the other day. I don't miss that kind of behavior.
This is outstanding
i'm not saying where they are bc they're embarrassing to me but once my gif of something from the craft (1996) got more than 100 reblogs haha
why have owls only become fashionable in the past 2 years?
I reckon the recent wave of popularity started in 2008 with this
but it's only in the past few years that owls on are on loads of designs and everyone is talking about how much they love owls. maybe it's just the people i hang about with idk.
I used to have this 70s book of soft toy patterns with these owls, but it disappeared a while back after a few house moves. I should get another copy. https://www.flickr.com/photos/trevira/4063869578/in/set-72157622707480742
My mum has a cat who looks exactly like a brown version of that cat. He is a big softy, but also has a big ego, so I could totally imagine him cautiously patting an owl like that and then being all "I conquered the fearsome owl". He likes to bring in feathers from the garden and wash them extravagantly as if he's saying "yeah, I totally caught a huge bird, but you know, it was so big I had to just leave it in the garden".
Here he is- Oscar
