SUNDAY THREAD

whiterussian [Edit] [Delete] 65 replies 12:07, 21 September '14

Yep. I for once do not have a hangover. Still in bed anyway though, even though I actually have a lot of stuff to do. Boring boring boring so anyway, how are you guys doing today? I imagine there are some Fenino hangovers occurring? Anyone doing anything exciting? Oooh, just remembered Sunday is Postsecret day as well.

SUNDAY!

  • Hi Helene

I'm still in bed too. I went to a party in some woods last night. Lots of self conscious dancing and sitting around a fire. I feel like poo now. It's my mum's bday today so I'm going around to make her some tea in a bit. Week off work YAY.

    moousee | 21 Sep '14, 12:12 | X
  • not looking forward to work next week

answering phones ain't my forte. Hopefully I can just astral project and disconnect from my consciousness or something and let myself get through the working hours like some kinda more efficient golem.

I'm moderately grumpy right now; it's too sunny and I seem to have a bastard cold again. Loadsa stuff I vaguely feel like doing, but not sure what I actually want to do... Looking forward to October though; volunteering should be fun, and then I've booked a week off and am seeing St. Vincent. Yaaaay.

    mute-branches | 21 Sep '14, 12:25 | X
    • What's the job, reception or something?

I've done loads of reception work, and even though I don't normally like talking to strangers on the phone, that works well for some reason. Plus it's normally busy enough to make the time pass real quick.

What kind of volunteering are you gonna be doing?

      whiterussian @mute-branches | 21 Sep '14, 12:38 | X
      • it's sort of receptiony sorta stuff

it's a small business, and someone's taken the week off so I'm taking over her job for the time being. I've done it before and the time does pass mercifully quickly, but I'm still dreading it a bit (also the phone is definitely the wankest form of communication there is).

I'm doing stewarding for the Birmingham Literature Festival on a couple of weekends; I like that sort of environment (esp. around Autumn time, coming up to Winter for some reason), seems like a nice way to meet people and generally be less of a gloomy ole twart.

  • Hello!

I'm in bikini and applying factor 15 as it's a bit hot here. Trying to decide whether to call a pizza or save a tenner by walking round to tesco- the latter involves getting dressed but will also yield booze. I'm supposed to be going to a surprise party later but overall been doing since thinks about it any realised that you problem with these is that the birthday surprisee doesn't get to dictate guest list and I'm pretty sure I've been asked in error. So, No show. Going back focus on pizza problem or I might see if my pal's party is still getting from last night. I love hate Sunday

Because some guys in high vis jackets just appeared on a cherry picker behind my flat (construction work going on next door). My solitude is shattered so I'm going to head out to the west end for lunch. Horrid constructiony noises and whistling. It should be banned on a Sunday.

  • Just got out bed and had curry for the third day in a row

Woke up at half 7 a bit hungover so ended up playing Silent Hill 1, started it yesterday morning but ended up finishing it this morning. Fucking excellent game, the graphics are obviously an acquired taste these days but they kinda add to the uncomfortable nature of it. Wonderful level design and puzzles though. I love my PSone.

    • played Silent Hill 1 not long ago on the PSP

which I think emphasises that game's flaws a bit. I'm hoping those emulation rumours re: the PS4 turn out true, cause I'd love to play the later SHs again (esp. 2 and 4).

Watched a nice movie last night - blood ties.

good cast, looked beautiful, nice array of strong characters, brilliant soundtrack. went on a bit long. also noticed there was a nod to goodfellas...which was nice.

my immediate rating last night - 6.8. now a steady 6.5.

  • hi

i moved house today. Went out last night and got really high which I was trying not to do and smoked a bunch of cigarettes. Got a bit high today. No more getting high after this lot.

part of the reason why I moved is because I know too many people in my old town, and they all indulge me in my darker pursuits. But now I've moved I feel pretty distant from everyone I actually have any relationship with. The comfort of being able to walk into the local pub and being known is no longer available. Which I guess is the point.

Doesn't help that the place I've moved to (Ancoats in MCR) is just utterly desolate, a post industrial purgatorial deadzone with no culture or life. Nice flat though.

Thus begins mark II of ol douchie. The new testament. Where I start going to art classes and doing yoga and being going to gigs and volunteering and actually expanding myself rather than just getting liquored up and inventing new ways to be a smarmy asshat

if any of yous are ever around here give me a shout and we can go for a beer, because frankly I'm bored as fuck

    • I have friends in Ancoats. Andy and Laura.

they are great. I now what you mean about the place though. It is a bit... isolated, although the more built up it's getting the more it's becoming a bit like an extension of the NQ.

Can I recommend this for you, it's walking distance- http://bikramyogamanchester.co.uk/

As Choudaray said, every journey begins with a single step.

Can I also recommentd that you do not leave your 90 minute bikram class, turn right and then right again and end up in Keko Moku, rehydrating with a zombie.
You will easily make new friends in that part of manchester, I did, and I didn't know a single soul when I moved there. it's friendly if you are.

this place is good for gigs and exhibitions- http://kraak.org.uk/category/events/

      And this- http://soup-kitchen.co.uk/

And of course you can have The Castle as your new boozer (does Ancoats itself even have a pub?)

      • there is some manner of pub just down the road

have moved in with some friend of a friend of a friend who seems like a good guy, so it's not like I'm all alone. Plus my friends wont take much convincing to cone out to NQ.

really just need to develop some hobbies that don't completely revolve around drinking. Then I should be reet
