So tomorrow I will have been with Mr S for 17 years. That's half my life.
So what were you doing half your life ago...?
I was talking with my friends about 9/11.
No idea what I was doing.
Probably pretty fun.
it was cold
And only just realising Anton LaVey was a fucking fool.
probably traipsing around Brockenhurst College listening to The Boo Radleys on my walkman
So probably just looking forward to being legal smoking age and not having to walk to the garage where I knew I wouldn't get ID'd to buy fags
practicing Soo Bahk Do
playing in an orchestra
doing well in my KS3s
actually I think years 8-9 were probably amongst my favorite school years tbh.
I was on holiday in Normandy with my family. Staying in this 500 year old house. No tv so we just had BBC world service and books and an Eric Satie CD (he had lived in a house on that street). For some reason I remember being really into skippin so I spent a lot of time in the basement with a skipping rope (got really good at it and could do two turns in one jump and different tricks and stuff. Probably did a lot of damage to my lungs). Played tennis on clay. Lived across from the boulangerie and ate the best bread ever... Really enjoyed that holiday. Honfleur is a nice place.
so she had a black eye for the whole holiday. That wasn't nice :(
I have so much respect for my parents now that I realise how dreadful driving for 12 hours at a time with three bickering little girls in a tiny car must have been.
In a nissan micra, mun dad me and two sisters. Read a lot of books and sat very high on 5 sleeping bags :)
that was fun
"we didn't have a tv in our holiday home so i just spent the whole time in the basement".
good chance i was either playing championship manager 99/00 or whatever console i would have had in 1999 (ps1/saturn?)
naot a fucking clue. Possibly looking at my cat??
16.25 nothing's changed
it was a Saturday. I was probably shooting hoops round my mate's house, or Jamming out some tunes round a mate's house, or washing my parents' cars.
or 13? probably stomping on thing
Living a pitiful existence in another country with almost no mates. Great times.
i would've been around 10 which i guess is primary school, year 4
remember when i was in that year me and my friend spent most of our time working on a fictional zine about an alien invasion, which was told through newspaper articles
i guess that's around when yu-gi-oh!, beyblades, digimon world on the ps1 took up a lot of my time
Which means I'd almost started my first band. We were so shit but it sounded like it was on purpose, like a shouty Devo with a liberal attitude towards time signatures. Named Typical Analysis after our singer read it on the back of a water bottle. We had songs with lyrics about cakes and moose and stuff.
I bet it wasnt
Just started 6th form. Some of the most fun I have had is those carefree days. A part time supermarket job, could get served for booze in most places. Lower 6th was a piece of piss as no proper exams. Free lessons meant pissing about in the common room and smoking in the fields next to school.
Studying French, Spanish & Archaeology. Sharing a room in a Uni flat with a Harvard exchange student who was a committed Jehovah's Witness. She also like Barry Manilow and Reba McEntire. I played her lots of Orange Juice in return. I was getting into Stereolab. I bought most of my records from Stephen Pastel in John Smith's on Byres Road.
Good times (apart from the odd room-mate).
At pretty much the same point in my life I had a home-made Pastels tshirt, because I couldn't get hold of a real one anywhere and I thought they'd probably approve.
I've only ever heard nice things about Stephen Pastel.
I'm actually quite young
you're a fresher right? so like 18/19 ?
Started uni l8
Probably having a migraine or being sick somewhere
Think i was on an imposed break from school, most of which was spent playing Championship Manager, eating crackerbreads with philadelphia on, and watching Mel and Sue or Win, Lose and Draw.
At school, probably looking forward to exam leave and college. Cheating on my girlfriend at the time with a girl I used to go to gigs with. Only when we were pissed though so it didn't really count.
being bullied and asthmatic.
oh, and mastering Crash Team Racing to the strains of Limp Bizkit.
going to gigs every other night living the life. Like the OP, hanging out with the lady I'm still with now. Drinking every day like it's a novelty, reading books and thinking Britpop is all a bit shit really.
I was 10, we'd just got freeview for the first time, and I spent most of the time I wasn't at school watching the music channels, because they were a huge novelty.
